Rainy day outing
The course is in good condition. It was a rainy day so we never saw anyone else the whole round. Greens are nicely manicured, but as I said it was a rainy day so they did play a little slow. It’s not hard to reach most greens in regulation.
Simple layout in good condition
For a city owned course and $24, this course is in great condition. It’s a fun course to play. The layout is pretty simple. Although it’s short, you can hit driver on most 4s and 5s.
Fairways and Greens in good shape
Tee Boxes and fairways are nice and green. The Greens are in good shape. All was Fine.
Slow
Tee offed behind men's league. Terrible slow. Waited each hole. Finally left at 15th drove past. the. Last 3 holes wide open. No one out there to move them on pace.
Course amenities
Had a fun day. Friendly greeting from staff. Didn’t like that the ladies washroom on the course was locked and we had not received the code. Also no washrooms available when we finished the game. Not fun!
Otherwise a great day, enjoyable day.
Excellent
Over all condition of course was excellent. Greens were running true and consistent. Greens were a little slow for my liking and took me about three holes to get the speed down. Pace was slow first three holes it seemed like until everybody got warm up. Fairways were not as narrow as previous reviews indicated. My only complaint is the leaves. There was so many leaves in the fairways and rough it made it hard to find your ball.
“The Babe”
Course was in good shape. No starter and no ranger does not suit any golf course well. Back nine start makes for a different day at The Babe. Starter forgot to tell group that he let out that it was a back nine start so that caused a back up behind us. Instead of him correcting his error he just shrugged his shoulders. Redo the signs in the office to specifically say BACK NINE STSRT not the nicknames for the front and the back because most people coming to the Babe do not know the nickname of the back and front.
Starter is a problem
I had a 12 noon prepaid reservation to join up with 3 other players. I arrived at 11:20 and was told the threesome had already gone out. And I would have to play alone now or join up with two ladies who we’re going to be behind a foursome. I Chose to play alone. I played the front in an hour and 40 minutes. When I turned the corner I found that the starter had put a foursome in a threesome in front of me the back took 2 hours and 30 minutes. In the worst part was that no one was behind me all the way around. Otherwise everything else was fine
Much improved in 2022
Played here last Jan and the course was not in good shape. Much better conditions this Jan. Recommend for players that appreciate old Florida layouts and natural features.
Good value!
Tee boxes and greens were great. Fairways hard and fast.
