Rocky Point Golf Course

About
Rocky Point Golf Course has one of the most interesting histories of any golf course in Florida. Originally opened in 1911 under the name f the Tampa Automobile Club, it was one of the first courses in the state. It closed in 1942 due to World War II. After being turned over to the city of Tampa for a mere $1, it reopened in 1954 as Rocky Point Golf Course. It is the closest golf course to Tampa International Airport, only a 15-minute drive away. The layout provides a fair challenge water hazards coming into play on 11 holes and sand bunkers strategically placed throughout. Rocky Point Golf Course's lakes are home to an abundance of wildlife and also serves as a bird sanctuary.

Peanut
Course recently went through several storms and overall was cleaned up pretty well. However the course looks ratty, greens were the best part of the curse, sand traps were the worst, basically soft dirt. I would never recommend the course to anyone willing to pay full price as there are much better courses in the area. However if you’re just trying to get a round in or hacker just trying to play if you can find some discounted rates then the course may work for you.
have played here many times. the course was in great shape. well worth the $$$$$$$$$$
Nice people and course
The pace was good and the course was in pretty good condition. The staff there were very friendly.

Over Booked
Way over booked!!
Waited 10 mins on every shot. Greens are slooooow
have pround the course in great shape. played here many times,
Bad greens
I played Rocky Point many times when I'm down for the winter. This is the worse I've seen the greens. They were terribly slow and also had many bad areas with some deep holes that were like small divots. Looks like they are doing some minor work to the greens. I know there went through a hurricane and hopefully they can get the greens back to playable. The rest of the course was in normal conditions for Rocky Point
Tough course
The course was in good condition after the storm. I would recommend playing here. The pace was great.
Stay Far Away
This is the worst course in all of Tampa. It does not matter what time, what day you play you are looking at a 5 hr round. The people that come here are even worse. It’s a frat party mixed in with entitled idiots who think its okay to talk on the phone while on the green. staff is friendly but god they are useless. -10/10. I live 4 minutes away and I still wont play this ridiculous course.
It’s a Warzone
The course interest I’ve seen it. I can understand that it’s been raining pretty frequently, but this was beyond that. Unmowed grass, mismanaged rough areas, and still asking 65$. This course shouldn’t be more than $40 in summer in this condition. I would not recommend this anything else is available for you. at least the bar has options because after a round your going to need a drink
