Slow Play at Knollwood
While I love the course itself, the time it takes to play at Knollwood you could play two rounds at two different courses. It is unfortunate they allow 5 people to tee off at a time, and do not take that into account with tee times when booking.
We played 2 holes in one hour. TWO holes. Golf should not be played that slow. No matter what.
Soft conditions
Raining but soft conditions, pace of play was good until ran into a group of 7,, on the plus side I did get my 1st hole in one on the 8th hole
Nice surprise
Knollwood is a little gem tucked in Granada Hills. Tight fairwaiways with good elevation makes it a challenging track. The main issue is the layout was originally intended for private use so back ups occur when you reach the par 3’s now that it has a good amount of traffic being public. What should take 3 1/2 hours can last well over 5 on bad days. Nonetheless some of the best public golf the San Fernando Valley has to offer.
Awful pace
The course is designed very nicely, green is small and tough, however, weekend walkers and five some is killing the fun for the rest of us, it took me 5 & half hour to finish the round, hence it's my first and the last round here
Dissappointed again
Every once in a while I forget how I end up regretting playing at Knollwood and make another tee time there. It's either the lack of carts when you're ready to tee off, the glacial pace of service in the snack bar, some less-than-nice people on the course, etc. This time the starter moved our tee time and didn't properly cancel the original tee time I made on GolfNow.com. As a result Golf Now charged my credit for the full cost of all the green fees -- even though we paid and played there! Now I have to go through the trouble of finding a way to get my money refunded. I called the course and Kyle told me I have to wait for the General Manager (Wade) who it seems may or may not be able to work it out. And good luck getting a hold of GolfNow.com. I don't even see how to email them.
This place just ain't worth the aggravation.
It’s okay
Location of course is good. Condition is okay, fairways and tee boxes need a lot of work. $25 at 3pm not a bad price. Only serious issue is pace of play. Round took almost 5 hours.
Agonizingly slow pace of play
I like everything about Knollwood but the pace of play, which was unbearable this time. Multiple fivesomes were allowed out, including (very slow) walkers. Every single hole was backed up, with usually two groups waiting to tee off.
NO CARTS !
Didn’t have ANY carts, had to wait over a hour to get one. Decided to leave after 1hr and half after my scheduled tee time
Fivesomes Ruin This Course
6-hour round due to fivesomes in nearly every group. Don't waste your time.
Knollwood Riunds
I play here about 3 times a year. The greens were punched the week before we played and we were able to book a great deal at Knollwood. My buddy and I played for $25 each and we didn’t wait to hit one shot. Usually the pace of play at Knollwood deters me from coming back soon, but I will probably try to play Knollwood a few more times this year if it’s a quiet as it was earlier this week.
Course is in pretty good condition, I would assume the greens have returned to their normal selves by now. If you are looking for a good place to play, try out Knollwood.
Greens just started being aerated
I actually golf here pretty often, on a normal day, it is normal for this course to have a 5 hour+ round. I usually just play 9holes here at twilight or super twilight. I played 3/28/19 and played the whole 18 for the first time in under 5 hours in forever, and it might be because they’re currently aerating all the greens! Some greens they hadn’t even started yet, while others were like a bunker. Besides the pace of play on most days, it’s a difficult course and if you can muster up being ok for a round under 6 hours, it’s a good place to play.
