Good course, but overpriced
The courses conditions were ok but you would like to think that for $50 it would be better. The tee boxes were uneven and there were a lot of divots not repaired. Overall the course was in pretty good shape but there could be more attention to detail or lower the price so that the expectation is not there.
Jose vazquez
It is a very good golf cource but needs a little better imprubement on fairways
Coarse layout
Length of coarse from the blue was challenging and overall layout was fun to play
7 HOUR ROUND?
Had a 11:40am tee time and they didn't get us started until 12:10pm. They were low on carts because they play 5 people in a group instead of 4, so you have groups playing with 3 carts. We finished the first 9 holes in 3 hours and 15 minutes!!!
Then we quit! The course manager needs to change some things. Allow only foursomes and make sure your staff gets people to tee off on-time!!! When you play 5 people in a group, you are doing a disservice to the game and it is no longer GOLF. It's a stand around social event!
Challenging and great value for money
Challenging course with narrow fairways, lots of elevation changes, tons of bunkers around the greens, and fast sloping greens. Great value, weekend rates at $25 w/cart after 3. Pace of play allowed us to play 18 holes in 4.25 hrs. Foreman is very nice guy. Other staff are hit or miss with the starter we encountered being exceptionally unprofessional. Courses of similar price in valley are not nearly as nice as knollwood (woodley lakes, encino, etc). Will definitely be back.
Course was in great shape challenging place to play but beatable!
The course and facility was in great shape and the staff that I talked to seemed helpful in every way. Overall I thought the course was in great shape and well taken care of. Play was alittle slow cause of some 5 somes but it's weekend golf! Overall I would suggest to play there anytime!!!
Nice Track, but slow
This is a really nice SF valley course, and near my house so I play it occasionally. I have always liked the layout, and its usually in decent condition. Like most Munis in LA, good greens till late in the summer, moderate to below average fairway conditions. The one big drawback of this track is the slow pace of play. Lots of groups of retirees from the Far East play there often and are lovely people, but very slow players. Groups of five are allowed to go out as well. This adds up to a moderate golfing experience, just be prepared for an all day event. That is the big drawback at Knollwood.
Beautiful Greens
This was my first time at Knollwod and I will play it again....but only on a weekday. The staff was courteous and efficient informing my group of the delays while on the course. But, the pace of play was a little longer than I care for on a weekend. Allowing groups of 5s definitely held everyone up.
The green were as nice as I've ever seen. Quick and very true. I'd try Knollwood again.....but only on a week day!
Not so quick 9
Favoritism rules this course, letting people walk on before you despite having the earlier tee time. Played early morning, 7am, and sat in anticipation as two groups of three were let in before our group. A couple of them walked right from the parking lot that separates the front and back nines, made pleasantries with the starter and THEN went to the pro shop to check in, etc.
Simple enough course, over watered greens and under tended fairways, sand traps, etc.
We are extremely sorry to hear about your experience. You can be assured we communicate to each marshall and starter that favortism is not allowed, and we always honor people with tee times. We do have a waiting list sign up sheet, and put those people out whenever we see an opportunity, while trying to make sure it does not affect those with tee times. We will continue to make sure that experiences like yours are not a part of Knollwood, and would ask that if this ever happens to you again, that you ask to speak with management while you are at the course, and we will be able to reconcile the issue for you. Please stop by the pro shop next time you get a chance, or send us your home adress so we can set you up for a round "on us". We are sorry once again, and hope to see you for a round again soon.
Knollwood Golf Club
Very challenging and small greens; not a long course but still one of the harder courses I play. Pace of play was extremely slow because they put a fivesome in front of us, but other than that it's a great place for a round.
Exceptional
I love this course, yes its gets busy but when you have people like the course pro Jimmy around it makes your day.
Good challenge
Good track. Consistent greens. Pace gets slow when crowded 5 hour round normal
Good deal at a good price
This was the 2nd time I played at Knollwood. (The first time was in Oct 2013 when a bear decided to go for a walk on the course). My brother & I are novice golfesr and we were paired up with a group of older, more experienced guys. Around the 5th-6th hole we were asked to speed things up. We did and didn't see the group behind us until the 10th hole. There was a traffic jam at the 10th hole with 3 groups in front of us. After waiting patiently for 10-15 minutes we tee'd off. By this time the group behind us caught up, along with 2-3 other groups. Overall the day was fun and we had great weather - the only downside being the traffic.
Great Monday Golf
Scored a $40 dollar Rate including cart on Golfnow. Got their early and were able to tee off whenever we were ready. They were preparing a small 14 women tournament. So we tee'd off at around 8:20am. The course was wide open, we played at our own pace with no pressure. Course was in pretty good condition. They also had a Special for $10 bucks at the course where you could choose any 2 out of 3. (Bucket of range balls, Hotdog/chip/coke, Sleeve of Nike P/D balls). So that was a no brainer that my whole group bought. Hit the turn and got our Hotdogs and chips. Finished up at around 12:45. Had a cold beer and called it a Day. Great Round, Great Bargain.
Snail's PAce
Played Knollwood with a buddy on Friday booked through golfnow. 10:37 tee time was pushed back and didn't get to tee off until 10:55 due to starter putting a 5- some group of friends ahead of the lady 5- some in front of us. That group didn't have a tee time, and so we waited and waited and waited. after 3 hours and 15 minutes we completed 9 holes and quit after complaining to their GM.
We are sorry to hear about this poor experience. You can be assured that we have spoken to all our starters and marshalls about these types of reviews, and to make sure they do not happen again. We are currently making a lot of changes at Knollwood to improve our pace of play, we hope to see you again with a different result.
finally got to play
I've tried 4 times total to get on this course with success on the 4th. Management has obviously been doing some house cleaning. It was very nice to finally be able to play without having to pay "extra" to have your name called. Kudos for cleaning up. We were a four-ball and all agreed we would come back again.
Slow-wood
If it wasn't for the pace of play, I would play this course a lot more. The groupings are done in 5's and there always seems to be a lot of walkers. The average rounds here is 6 hours. We weren't even able to finish our round, the wait always seems to get unplayable on the back nine. This course will continue to be last on the list of courses around our area for a pleasant round. Play Robinson ranch!
We are sorry to hear that you have had poor experiences at Knollwood. We are aware of the slow play on the course and it is our top priority to fix. 5'somes are a county policy and all county courses allow them, however we plan to make all necessary changes to improve pace. We hope to see you out here again soon.
Not Worth It
Stuck behind a two groups of 5, a group of 6 (yes, 6) it took 2.5hrs to get to the 5th box. Called the club house with no resolve and no marshal. Stopped in after the 9th and was offered a voucher for another day but just left. Will not be returning to this course again.
Fairways were patchy and hard. Greens were good.
The only positive was the bar/restaurant staff.
We are sorry to hear about this experience. A group of 6 is unacceptable and we have had meetings with all our marshalls to make sure their prescence is felt more often, and to ensure these things do not happen. 5'somes are a county policy and we are required to allow them but we are doing everything necessary to improve our pace of play. It is our top priority. Things are already starting to improve, but the process is ongoing and changes are being made. We hope to see you again soon.
Nice course if you have Forever
Knollwood is kind of like being in bumper to bumper traffic. Your always waiting for the traffic to open up. The course is nice, but when I played at every tee box there was 3 carts waiting. The management sends out the groups too close together so it's just a few holes before the traffic jam starts. I started at 12 noon and barely finished. In fact it was too dark to see on the 18th hole. Want a tip? Get there before 11am if you want to finish! Just too many people there.

Sir,
We are sorry to hear about your experience. I would ask you to send me your home address to agm@knollwoodgc.com so I can send you a certificate for a free round at Knollwood.
A few notes about your comments. Regarding 5-somes, we are a county facility, and each county golf course is required to permit 5-somes, so we cannot control that aspect. As for the shortage of carts, we had a cart-barn fire a month ago, and lost most of our fleet and are currently working with a smaller fleet. Clearly, you caught us on one of our busiest days of the year, and we ran into a shortage, for which we apologize. We look forward to sending you a certificate and providing a better experience next time you visit us. Sorry again, I will keep an eye out for your email with your home address.
Sincerely,
Knollwood Management Team
