About
The Ocotillo Golf Resort sits on 185 acres and features lush contoured fairways that flow gently amid patches of mature trees, vibrant flower beds, pretty waterfalls and numerous lakes.
The Gold nine is a devilish test and not just because water comes into play on six of the holes. The greens have a lot of slope in them and are difficult to read. And some pin placements are brutal; hit a downhill putt two feet past the
hole, and it might roll down into a swale and 30 feet by. Uphill putts, on the other hand, are extremely difficult to get to the hole, if for no other reason than Ocotillo's greens aren't as fast as some of the Valley's marquee desert courses.
Two holes stand out on the Gold: No. 5 is a 212-yard par 3 with water running down the entire left side; and No. 9 is a 468-yard par 4 with a carry over water from the tee -- water that dissects the fairway about 50 yards short of the green and water left to the green. Par there is a great score.
Ocotillo's Blue Course is a watery grave; water comes into play on eight of the nine holes. It's not overly long but there's so much water the length becomes irrelevant. The best hole may be No. 1, a 590-yard par 5. Big hitters are faced with the classic risk-reward: Do they lay-up on their second shot or try to fly a tributary that splits the fairway about 50 yards short of the green?

Better than expected
Read of couple of recent reviews that said how bad the greens were, and almost cancelled my tee time because of them, but I’m glad I’d didn’t. Course conditions are just fine! Yeah the greens are transitioning but they roll just fine and they’re very receptive. Fairways are good, tees are good, and for about the $55 we paid I'm more than pleased. Course layout is just so different from all the others around. Actually forgot I was in Arizona for a little bit. All in all, fun day and good course.
Golf
I had the chance to play this course recently, and despite shooting one of my worst rounds in a while, I absolutely enjoyed the experience. The layout was both challenging and scenic, with well-maintained fairways and greens that rolled true. The overall condition of the course was excellent, and it’s clear the staff takes pride in keeping it in great shape.
Even though my scorecard might suggest otherwise, the course itself was a pleasure to play. Sometimes a tough round can still be a great day—and this was definitely one of those times. I’m already looking forward to coming back and giving it another shot. Highly recommend it to any golfer looking for a quality round in a beautiful setting.

Not the same Ocotillo
Was very disappointed. $114 then $10 to hit range balls that used to be Calloways but not anymore. It’s obvious they are focused on profits vs taking care of the course. This course used to be pristine. Range was muddy. Greens were spotty and some just trash. Sand traps were muddy and full of rocks. The tee boxes were uneven. I used to play there a lot and this place is now one I won’t be playing again. It was a $50 course at best. The only good aspect is they have good people working there, but as far as golf goes it has gone from one of my favorites to one of the worst courses especially for the ridiculous price. Sayonara Ocotillo- the new owners have ruined a great place.

Horrible conditions greens and bunkers
Greens on sky and valley had multiple holes with dead greens. Sky #2 huge dead area in the front of the green dead. Bunkers were so bad except the lady few holes on valley..sky bunkers were rock beds not bunkers.$127 at $100 plus to boot include range balls is wild. Arizona golf courses are overpriced and run poor conditions . I'll be avoiding playing here for a while.

Greens rock hard
Fairways and tee boxes were good, but greens were rock hard and some were sanded.
No starter so just joined another group.

A day with the geese
It had been a number of years since I had played Ocotillo and was very disappointed in the condition of the course. Lots of bird poop and next to no grass on the greens.

Way more challenging but way more entertaining
Ocotillo has become a very difficult course but that very entertaining at the same time, it has given me 3 beatings since everything got cut down and way faster, but every time I want to come back more

April greens
Enjoyed the pace of play, not many others on the course. Was able to stay a Twosome and enjoy the company of my friend.
However the greens were in terrible condition, very fast and looks like a fungus is on them. It appears they are treating it but the cut lines in the ground affect the ball.
Will always go back it is a very tough course and great place to challenge yourself.
