SunRidge Canyon Golf Club
About
SunRidge Canyon Golf Club provides adventure amid natural terrain over 7,002 yards of par-71 golf. The golf course was laid out by the golf course architect Keith Foster, who hid the golf course in the ridges and canyons of the foothills of the McDowell Mountains, one of the last untouched bastions of the Southwestern United States.
The SunRidge Canyon Golf Club's signature hole is the 17th, and it is unique, giving golfers the option of shooting a 209-yard, par 3 over a box canyon today and then going for a 152-yard par 3 from an elevated tee tomorrow. Foster discovered the elevated-tee opportunity during a tour of the golf course while it was being constructed and added the Canyon set of tees right then. The vistas he knew golfers would get were enough to convince Foster to set up the second set of tees.
After a round of golf at the SunRidge Canyon Golf Club, head back to the Ridge Room, which attracts visitors and locals for the great view and Southwestern cuisine.

Amazing
I specifically travel to the Phoenix area to play desert style target courses. Sunridge Canyon did not disappoint!
The course has an interesting layout of going out and down into the canyon and then coming back and up in. The scenery and views are spectacular!
As far as playability, the course is challenging. Generally speaking, there aren't many flat lies. If you spray your shots into the desert, your ball is pretty much gone. If I were to play this course again (and I hope I do) I would layup a few shots and shoot for boogie rather than try to use 3W and long irons to try and reach the green. The Wicked 6 is no joke. It's tough!
If you can get a deal on Sunridge Canyon, I'd highly recommend it. I paid $29 on a hot deal and felt like I was robbing them. However, it's easily worth whatever you'd pay for some of the other top courses in the Phoenix metro.
It doesn't show up on all the lists when Google searching "top phoenix golf courses". But, it should. It's an amazing experience!
Because I got a hot deal, I teed off around 1:55. I would recommend starting earlier as the course being in a canyon the sun sets earlier on the course than if you were standing in a flat area of the desert. In other words, it gets dark just a little quicker than maybe a course not inside a canyon. You're going to want to see everything you can on this course.
No brainer
Excellent course...fairways are perfect. Greens are firm but roll very true. Layout is excellent...just a excellent course and great rate here. Must play in my opinion.
The course was in great shape.
Very fun round. The wicked six played tougher because of wind and due to morning rain.Very enjoyable though.
very nice golf course
Pace of play was somewhat slow, but we had a foursome who played second round on the same day and were very slow walking (too much golf, perhaps?)
Other way I had a great time!
Great views great course
One of prettiest courses I have played. Select the right tees and have fun. Great for couples .
Wicked Six Indeed
This is a target course for hearty players. Overseeding made conditions inconsistent on greens, but they were in as good a shape as conditions allow.
A Very Nice Course in Scottsdale
This is a desert course that is for the golfer with excellent control and accuracy. If you are the 90% that has some weaknesses in your game, maybe play it without keeping score but enjoy it given the beauty and condition of the course. I ate lunch at the restaurant before playing and found the food and service good, but a bit pricey. Come on, $8.00 for 2 20 Oz power aids? This in itself will have me looking elsewhere on my next visit to the area. But the coarse and staff did a good job making my wife and I feel very welcome.
Really pretty desert style golf course
Everything was great. The only items of note being (I) it was cart path only; and (ii) it took nearly 4.5 hours to get round 18 because of some four balls in front of us.
Course was beautifully green and very nicely landscaped. Nice variety of holes. The back nine was more difficult but more scenic including the look back down the 18th.
Nice to have the Garmin screen on the cart with advice and distances.
Tough course that is fun to play!
For this time of year the course was in great shape. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Will go again
Friendly staff. Course in great shape. Good value and will for sure go again. Nice views and great for skilled and beginners. Did not eat at lounge so cannot rate food.
Beautiful challenging course
The opening holes let you warm up. The challenge is the closing 6. Great views. Changes in elevation. You can't spray off the tee but it's fair. Very fun round.
Nice course
Good course for the money. Great views. Greens a little too hard. Ball wouldn't stick after shots. Cart girl had big cans so that was a bonus.
Sup
Great greens. Came up on a twosome of blue hairs that would not let us play through. So many people think once you pay your green fee you don't need to show any courtesy to other golfers. Took them 10 shots to reach the green on par 5 and they decided to okay the black tees. What a joke.
Wicked Six Rules
Awesome layout. Forgiving open fairways and challenging greens. Wicked Six is one of the most difficult finishing holes. Great experience.
breath taking
awesome day staff was extremely friendly , course and scenic views were unreal , when you play listen to the GPS review before each hole it will help lower your score, good tips to use certain clubs was a big help.
Will be back
Great golf day!
Sun Ridge is a great course which challenge any golfer strategy. It is not for all type of golfers, in my opinion you must need to know how to manage the course and your shots. The course is fun to play during the front nine where you go down the canyon. But in the back nine turn out to become a challenger since you play up the hill. This is where you will need your good game to sustain your good score from first nine. Excellent course, my wife and I been playing it for the last 10 years.
beautiful course,nice staff
The most difficult course I have ever played. Greens were in bad shape. I am not able to figure out why because the rest of the course was great.
Super interesting layout
May rates coming down, opportunity to play this great layout
Ok course to play
There are much better courses in the area especially based on the cost of Sun Ridge. Seemed like a course for the retirement groups.
Not all about the revenue, Its about service too.
Played Sunridge Canyon from a GolfNow Tee-Time. Pace of play was unacceptable considering the limited groups on the course. Took 8 holes to see the cart girl, only to be told she was done for the day.
Requested ranger to come out to speed up play, never even saw a ranger or member of staff, after leaving first hole. On the 17th tee, there were 5 groups waiting to tee off, which pretty much sums up the round.
Golf courses in AZ need to understand they have lots of competition and only a few summer dollars to go around. Will not be back to Sunridge Canyon.
