Nestled within Fountain Hills, the course at the Desert Canyon Golf Club offers a championship course with a variety of elevation changes with views canyon and mountain views. It is a desert-style course with some elevated tees and open fairways that play tight with a few doglegs. Water bunkers come into play on a few holes as well as numerous well-positioned sand bunkers. From nearly every hole on the golf course, views of the signature fountain in Fountain Hills, which is the world's tallest fountain at 550 feet, can be seen.

Booked on a $68 hot deal so it proved to be good value for this time of year. Course conditions were good, from tees to fairways to greens, only light rough. Green speed medium to fast withs lots of slope, surface was firm.. Kind of a quirky layout though, lots of elevation changes but plays short, only 6400 from the tips, so big hitters and good players may not be challenged enough. But for average golfers like us a fun experience except....pace of play gradually slowed during back nine and even though rangers were riding around they did not seem to be moving the slow foursome two groups in front of us (typical comment on here unfortunately). All in all I’d recommend this course unless you are a single digit long hitter it will be way too short for you.

A Step Up

Desert Canyon is definitely a step up from the budget courses around the valley. For the money it’s probably as nice as the high-end courses that I’ve played over the years

Pace of play was excellent and not quite four hour round. Course is in great shape! for us it’ll be the signature round of our stay down here and it’ll be exactly that a signature around.

Good track, no long but clever

Good layout, makes you think on the tee. Can't bomb every drive. Variety of doglegs right and left. .

Quick greens in good condition.

Pretty good course

A bit over priced. It would be a good addition to the Troon card.

Beautiful Course

We played this course today on a cool, breezy day with a very light sprinkle from time to time. Lots of elevation changes on this course and don't even think about walking it. We played the middle tees and even though the course is not long there are a lot of dog legs and elevated greens with false fronts that makes it play much longer. Really liked the course and if you nit it pretty straight you can score. The greens are fairly small and pretty quick with some slope so stay below the hole. Will play Desert Canyon again for sure.

Challenging Course.

This course was in really good condition. The fairways were green and lush, and the greens were super nice too. It is deceivingly wide open. But even though it looks easy, and you have several short Par 4's, it was not that easy. First, oftentimes the fairways sloped heavily to one side or the other. Secondly the greens were such that, if you didn't hit it perfectly to the pin, it would roll off the back or where ever it sloped to. Also, about half of the holes had an elevated green, and you were hitting blind shots up on to it. I can see 2, maybe 3 holes like that, but not as many as there were.

I'm not sure if I would play this course again. I guess if I were to know it a little better, and know what to expect, it might be more enjoyable

Great Day

Played Sunday morning in less than 4 hours! Course in good shape. Greens a little slow because of sand. But, they are in great shape.

Have to play a little bump and run because greens are hard. Lots of reads on the greens. Walk around on those birdie/par putts. They look straight but aren't.

Great afternoon

Really interesting course. Lot of elevation changes. Greens fast and lots of slopes. Difficult to read. Sand traps in good order.

No complaints.

Outstanding

Played another great round at Desert Canyon GC, conditions were great and pace of play was ideal. The staff at Desert Canyon GC are some of the friendliest and courteous in the Valley. We have played the course several times over the past three years and use the practice facility when not playing, we have never had a bad experience at the course. The practice facility was in good shape and usual complementary warm up bucket before each round is a nice feature. The course was in great shape and lush green, as usual, the pro shop and outside staff are some of the best. The carts are nice and are equipped with touch screen GPS which we found to be pretty accurate compared to our golf GPS watches. Note: if you have time, grab a bite to eat at the restaurant, service and menu selections are outstanding.
