Desert Canyon Golf Club
About
Nestled within Fountain Hills, the course at the Desert Canyon Golf Club offers a championship course with a variety of elevation changes with views canyon and mountain views. It is a desert-style course with some elevated tees and open fairways that play tight with a few doglegs. Water bunkers come into play on a few holes as well as numerous well-positioned sand bunkers. From nearly every hole on the golf course, views of the signature fountain in Fountain Hills, which is the world's tallest fountain at 550 feet, can be seen.

Desert canyon golf
Shorter course but with some very challenging greens. Pace of play was about 4 hours and we started right on time.Driving range was restricted to irons only, not sure why . Green were in great shape and quite fast. Fairways were well manicured. Course was 90 degree rule but was not an inconvenience. Nice course. Well kept! Will play there again next Wednesday.
Nice course but plan it taking 4:45 to play.
Nice course...but it was slow from the get go. We were 10 minutes slow to tee off—and it took almost 5 hours to play. No course Marshal ever came out to hurry the groups in front of us. The cart person says it’s not usually this slow. We Would play it again...
Have played many times
Great value. Practice facility lacking, smallest bucket of free range balls ever seen. No cart person. The course has beautiful views throughout. It is in the best shape that I have ever seen. Homes on both sides of fairway most holes. Although lots of room in fairways. Greens in decent condition. Very true to eye. Open noe for carts using 90 degree rule.
One of my new favorites.
I guess when you finish with the same ball you start with it's at least one indication of an ok round. But far more than that, this track was absolutely beautiful and well laid out. My self and both buddies I played with plan to come back soon. There are lots of tee positions for every skill level. In cart GPS was a help for the variety of interesting pin positions, but I'm also glad to have had my rangefinder with "slope" turned on. Overall one of the nicest courses I've played lately. Most fairways let you "spray" it a little off the tee. (I did say "a little") greens are firm, track true and are maybe a little slow for my taste. (Maybe an 8 on the stimpmeter) If I had a small complaint it would be that the warmup range with free balls is limited to irons only, but I know I'm being overly picky. Looking forward to playing there again soon.
Fun track to play
Course was in excellent condition compared to its’ peers during the overseeing season. Greens not holding but generally rolling smoothly. This time of year greens are slow but will be considerably faster in the months ahead. Course offers a variety of holes with beautiful vistas of the valley....definitely will return
Beautiful views and great course layout
This course is in beautiful condition. Nice layout and not overly tough for all to play
Would definitely recommend this course for everyone
Greens are a little slow right now due to the overseeding but are in great shape
Good conditions overall
Desert Canyon has good conditions overall. 90 degree rule in effect, so can drive cart to your ball. Greens and fairways very slow right after the overselling. Will likely be excellent in another couple of weeks and I would add another star to my review then!
Great condition
Very well cared for and although a real challenge it is playable for every level . Has some incredible views but there are some holes where houses come into play for long hitters if not on target.
Could be much much better
First impression was the holes on the greens haven’t been moved in a very long time. Just after over seeding so the grass on the fairways and greens is long/shaggy- to be expected for the time if year. Course is 6400 yrds from the tips so its not tough by any means and if you are advanced player you may want to find sonething with a bit more teeth. Once the tee boxes, fairways, greens, and hopefully new holes are cut, they will probably have a decent course. My Son and I paid $160 for both of us on Golfnow.
The course was a blast to play!!!!!
It was very well maintained, plush grass, I truly enjoyed just being on it. It's challenging, but I think in the best way. It's really a very pretty course!
Hot with elevation
Nice course, friendly staff, range balls include...nice touch, nice large screen range monitors. Course in good shape for summer. Greens were good and consistent. Lots of hills hitting up and down...made it fun.
OK, the carts are wired so if you get off the path on par 3's they beep and shut down so you have to back up to get our of the "bad area" and continue on. Basically a good idea but it is a little irritating on very elevated holes with open smooth rough and the ball is in this area and the cart stops! Penalize everyone for the actions of a few idiots...its the American way I guess.
Not a good time to play this course
It’s pretty sad when you pay a higher the current summer rate average and have nothing bu hard-pan lies. I know it’s hot but it’s hot everywhere and other courses are not this bad.
Nice layout, but not my favorite
Really interesting layout. Greens were almost unplayable, a lot of sand.
Also a bit too narrow on some openings for my liking.
