Desert Canyon Golf Club
About
Nestled within Fountain Hills, the course at the Desert Canyon Golf Club offers a championship course with a variety of elevation changes with views canyon and mountain views. It is a desert-style course with some elevated tees and open fairways that play tight with a few doglegs. Water bunkers come into play on a few holes as well as numerous well-positioned sand bunkers. From nearly every hole on the golf course, views of the signature fountain in Fountain Hills, which is the world's tallest fountain at 550 feet, can be seen.

View from first hole Photo submitted by Mike8484427 on 03/04/2013
Great views and very playable for all handicaps.
Course was in excellent condition albeit the greens were a little slow after over seeding. Great track would definitely recommend.
Scenic and friendly
Played just after overseeding and the greens furry as expected. Overall nice track if you keep it in the fairway. Lots of short but tricky par4's.
Excellent Course
First time in Arizona. Coming off of overseeding the course looked excellent. Cart path only which was the only downfall but the views were great. Very scorable due to the slow greens right now. I'd definitely play there again if I came back
Awesome experience
Our tee time was for 9, got started sooner. Even though, it was cart paths only we finished in 3:45.
The greens were somewhat furry because the course had just been overseeded for the coming winter. Otherwise everything was great. Also, we are visiting from Canada, and noticed our flag flying beside the state flag under the flag of the USA, nice touch.
Bait and switch
Booked this tee time on GolfNow. There was nothing in the listing about cart path only or overseeding. I am physically disabled due to military combat, with a parking permit. On arrival I noted there was a Canadian flag and an Arizona flag, but no American flag. Strange. On checkin, was informed of cart path only rule, and denied a red flag due to overfeeding. I had booked play for two, but arrived alone, because my wife declined to play in 100 degree heat. Cooler temps has been forecast.
This would have been a great opportunity for management to.offer a couple rain checks, affording a discount on another day. But no. I got a stiff rejection with a scolding manner about requesting a red flag. When I went to get my cart, I was confronted about my tee time. And, because I did not yet have my clubs, I was again spoken to in a scolding manner that carts are not allowed in the parking area. As if this wasn't enough stilts authoritarianism, I was again confronted at the first tee to again confirm my tee time, and then shadowed around the course by an unsmiling, unfriendly course official.
Struggling to play with my disability in the heat and cart path only, behind a couple obviously taking their time; I finally gave up on the 13th hole, and went in. Whereupon a guy darted out of the garage as I was unloading my clubs, and tried to do a ceremonial club head wash...which they did not need, as I keep my clubs clean on the course. Of course he was trying to get a Tim while my thoughts were on assembling a group of veterans to picket the place for displaying a foreign flag instead of the one for which we fought.
Those guys are obviously impressed with themselves and the course, while I am not.
Greens were too fuzzy
Could not putt properly. Good score. No three putts ! Played as two putts after on green. Beautiful scenery
I'm very sorry that the newly seeded greens couldn't be cut low enough on our first day open. We have to do this process every year so that we can prepare for winter. Our golf course is the best its ever been this time of the year so we hope you return in a couple weeks when its not cart path only and we have our greens rolling.
give it another week
the greens are not cut yet from overseading, cart path only also
We are very sorry that your experience wasn't up to your standards and we hope the next time we can accomplish that. This is a hard time of the year to have perfect conditions after overseed.
Best course in AZ!!
Beautiful views on every hole. Enjoy playing here!
Excellent course, wretched restaurant.
Nice elevation and slope changes. Fairways good for the end of summer heat. Greens a little inconsistent. Tee boxes have been recently redone with excellent results. A lot of nice elevation and slope changes. A real hidden (or maybe not so hidden) gem. Definite must play course, but eat somewhere else. The food and service is wretched.
Great Course
This was my first time playing at Desert Canyon and it was a great experience. I played from the Blue Tees and course was in good condition, greens were a little slow, and, nice pace of play.
Definitely a course that I would play again when visiting Phoenix.
Nice Course, Nice Day, Nice People
This is a beautiful course, the pace of play was great, the weather was nice, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. It was a great day of golf!
Great course
It was hot and humid we were the only ones on the course which was in great shape. Played in 2.5 hrs had a good time. The rate of play was at our own pace no one to hold us up.
Great views, friendly staff, good conditions
This course was in very good shape. Staff was awesome though there was no cart girl which I was expecting. Seriously though, if that's your biggest complaint then you know you had a great round. I would recommend and I will be back.
It keeps getting better
I live on the course and have enjoyed many good years playing here. The owner and his staff continue to upgrade the facility to improve the overall experience. I play all over the valley and truly believe this is one of best courses for the money. The views are incredible, the bunkers are as soft as a Caribbean beech, the greens are now machine rolled and are true and relatively fast.
Lots of elevation change
I enjoyed this course. the greens and fairways were in good shape. Many of the tee boxes had been re sodded recently so many of the tees were set all the way forward which significantly shortened the course. All in all, for under $30 for an 8am tee time on Sunday I was satisfied and would play it again.
Desert Canyon Challenge
I have played this course for years. I enjoy the challenge of the elevation changes that making a club selection a little more difficult. It is a course that gives you options, and that is another fun part of playing this course. If you play this course, bring enough balls. I lost 2, and I seem lucky to get away with that. An enjoyable day with beautiful conditions. Reseeding the tee boxes, but everything is laid out a little different.
A little shorter, but still a real nice challenge.
AJ
fun in Fountain city
If the course wasn't undergoing tee box reconstruction I would have given this course 5 stars. A beautiful layout with challenging holes. Looking forward to playing again after the tee boxes are finished.
This course is fun to play.
Needs a year to finish the redoing the tee boxes. The course is fun to play. Many dog leg holes to challenge your shot selection. Fun round friendly staff.
Great course
First time playing here but definitely not the last. The course was in great shape, other than the tee boxes being redone(they did tell me about this beforehand though, so I knew going in). The staff was very friendly and the facilities neat and clean. If you eat at the bar get the BLT, it was awesome.

I would like to apologize that we couldn't allow carts onto the grass this early for anyone. We do have an american flag that is on top of our buliding above all other flags. 99% of my employees here are all veterans. You also booked through golfnow on a hot deal and we don't give refunds to those groups the call needs to be directed to them. Please make sure when you give us a 1 star it is warranted. You said nothing about how good the golf course was or that we let you out earlier.
