About
Located a short distance from Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix and Arizona State University, Kokopelli Golf Course is a championship length course that offers many interesting challenges. The rolling terrain creates sloping greens and undulating fairways. A majority of the teeboxes and greens are elevated as well. The course also has large multiple island tees and water hazards in the form of meandering lakes that come into play on several holes. The signature hole of Kokopelli Golf Course is the par-5 18th hole. The dramatic finishing hole calls for a shot off an elevated too followed by an approach shot past water to an elevated green.

Mediocre
No beverage cart service on a busy day with triple digit temperatures. Rate of play was rough. 18 took 5 hours, constantly waiting on groups ahead.
Save your money
This facility gets 1 star based on the staff who are friendly and helpful as far as the course itself I would have to say that it is the worst conditioned course I have ever played. The fact that they charge $60+ on a Sunday that is in the middle of the summer is laughable. The staff are embarrassed and state that they get that alot. If I could have quit after the 2nd hole and asked for a refund I would have but we were there with a group of 24 playing for $$$. Needless to say we ALL agreed we are never going back and to remind each other why, horrendous conditions...no grass in the fairways or rough bunkers are almost unplayable and the greens were just plain bad. It is an embarrassment for this facility to represent the Town of Gilbert. They should just give up trying to be a golf course and let some goats roam the grounds at least it would have a purpose then.

Fun in the sun
Summer golf in Mesa is hot. But, this course is still fun. Fairways still have grass, the greens rolled well. And there is plenty of fun for the money. And, I was the only person out I. The afternoon. I played as fast as I wanted. Great bang for your buck here.

This course did not seem kept up very well.
Grass throughout the course was very patchy and there were a lot of bare or dirt spots. Also the water hazards were dirty and not well maintained. Did not feel that course was in a condition that matched the cost of the round.

Not Worth the Price
The course was in terrible condition, tee boxes were missing markers, fairways were incredibly dry and mainly dirt, and the greens were in poor condition as well. On top of that, the price point was high for the condition of the course. Much nicer courses in the area for the same or cheaper price.

Bare Dirt
Hit majority of shots off bare dirt. Such a beautiful course but really in rough shape.

I was warned....
First Off, restaurant staff was friendly and polite, food was good. Course layout was odd, greens okay, fairways terrible. Overall, poorly maintained....will not return.

They are improving
Been a few months since I last played and noticed the Sand Traps are being filled and have sand! I can see the crew trying to improve the course and it shows. There are a few more improvements needed like the rough around fairways, water holes needing water and trimmed water bushes to showcase the design better. Overall if you hit in the fairways your good to go. Tee boxes, greens are in great condition.

The fairways were well maintained for the beginning of the summer season. The Tee’s were confusing at times as they were not marked properly to identify skill level. Even though the summer staff reduction had begun, the remaining staff was friendly and most helpful. Enjoyed the day and the round with my daughter.
