About
Located a short distance from Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix and Arizona State University, Kokopelli Golf Course is a championship length course that offers many interesting challenges. The rolling terrain creates sloping greens and undulating fairways. A majority of the teeboxes and greens are elevated as well. The course also has large multiple island tees and water hazards in the form of meandering lakes that come into play on several holes. The signature hole of Kokopelli Golf Course is the par-5 18th hole. The dramatic finishing hole calls for a shot off an elevated too followed by an approach shot past water to an elevated green.

Very poor condition
Used to be a nice course. I had not played it for a long time, and it is in terrible shape.

Mud mud mud
After 25 years playing here there is a reason why its so cheap. Mud everywhere. Cart got stuck 4 times. Every green had leftover mowed grass everywhere. Just lazy groundskeeper. Last time ever playing here. Get what you pay for

Terrible Greens
When we first started on hole 10 because that’s how they had us start, there wasn’t any signage at all. We also had the greens keeper mowing the greens and to wait for him on several holes he didn’t put the flags back in and left a ton of grass cuttings on the greens.

One of the worst courses in the valley.
I have paid for this course three times, and I will not ever do it again. The staff was fine; the clubhouse was fine, but the course was TERRIBLE! I was hoping the wait in between rounds here had resulted in better course conditions, but each time I have played here I have been greatly disappointed. Shame on me for thinking this course would improve. Each time the fairways have been in terrible shape; it’s been dirt with some grass patches here/there. The two best fairways were roped off as cart path only. I suspect that’s because they are near Mesa Dr/McQueen and those holes can be seen from the road so they don’t want people knowing the course is in bad shape. The course has been soaked/flooded every time I have played here regardless of the time of year. There is mud just about everywhere throughout the course. It never seems to change. It’s a shame this course charges what they do for such terrible conditions, but what’s worse is enough people pay it to keep pushing Kokopelli to charge what they do. I am guessing that is why they force you to pre-pay to make a tee time via Golf Now. This was the last time I’ll ever pick this course for a round.

Save your money
First time playing course today and will be last. The course is more dirt and mud than nice green grass. Most of fairways are dirt and mud, one hole sprinklers came on and we were soaked as well as cart and bag. Marshall came up and was not friendly and made us pick up our balls and join another group in front of us due to having several groups in a row of 2 players. We were the last group of 2 and he passed the other 2 groups and forced us to join be the ones to join one of the other twosomes in front. There are far too many other better options in the area!

Horrible condition
This courses condition just seems to get worse and worse.

Needs more grass
There were so many bare spots on the fairways it was almost unplayable. The course was also heavily watered so all the bare spots were muddy. This course is not worth playing at any price.

Poorly maintained course
This is not my first time at this course. I used to play it quite often but that was a couple of years ago. This time the course was in horrible shape. Mud and dirt everywhere. They started watering the 17th hole while I was on it, which makes it a bit difficult to play. I won't be back and thats unfortunate because it used to be my favorite place in Mesa.

Wet
We played the back 9 and we put our bags in the golf bag stand to check in and we when we came out the sprinklers were on the 18th hole and got our golf bags wet. We get to the 14th hole and we had to wait for the the ground crew to finish cutting the lawn on the green and around it, they have new golf carts but not for beer cart girl, so we had to wait until we got back the club house . The food is good there.

They should close down the course
I don’t mean to be hateful but they really should consider closing the course down until they can get it to at least a playable condition. 0/10 wouldn’t go golf there for $15. The audacity for them to charge $60. Ha.

Combat Golf
Okay so here are the pros and cons of Kokopelli Golf Course.
This course needs repairs on the fairways and the cart path. Our first impression of hole one was it looked like a battlefield; my golf partner said, "It looks like a bomb hit" I tend to agree with this quote. The cart path reminded me of when I was a kid, and we used to jump our bikes off of ramps; that is what the cart path is in this course. The condition of the fairways is hit and miss on good housekeeping, and there are broken sprinklers everywhere. Which leaves us with mud holes in areas there should not be. The greens are okay, as they have tried to refurbish them.
The pace was whatever the plays wanted it to be as there was no Marshal on the course leaving players to bog down on the back 9 of the course. Water was provided if you could find a jug with cold water and no food or drink on the course unless you order it which we did not.
