Since its inception in 1992, it has gained recognition as one of the most economical golf spots in the East Valley, providing an enjoyable and friendly atmosphere for players of varying abilities. The course, crafted by famous golf course designer Brian Whitcomb, features broad, playable fairways along with thoughtfully positioned bunkers and water hazards, creating a design that appeals to novices while keeping seasoned golfers engaged.
This par-72 course extends roughly 6,744 yards from the championship tees and offers picturesque views of the Superstition Mountains. Open throughout the year, the course benefits from Arizona's favorable weather patterns and well-maintained playing surfaces.
In addition to the golf course itself, Western Skies provides a well-rounded golf experience, including a cutting-edge practice facility featuring a driving range enhanced by Inrange technology, putting greens, areas for short-game practice, and learning programs. Golf enthusiasts can also shop at a fully stocked pro shop and dine at Mulligans Grill, the club's restaurant and sports bar, making it a favorite spot to visit both before and after a round.
Positioned conveniently just minutes away from Loop 202 and US-60, and around 20 minutes from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Western Skies appeals to both local players and tourists. The club fosters a friendly environment underscored by its tagline, "Where Locals Bring Their Friends," highlighting its commitment to customer satisfaction, affordability, and community involvement. It also provides membership options, hosts tournaments, organizes leagues, and holds special events throughout the year.
Ultimately, Western Skies Golf Club stands out for offering a pleasing and accessible golfing experience that merges quality course conditions, modern practice facilities, and outstanding value. Golfer Reviews
Western Skies
Found the fairways to be cut too short and very dry and the greens were also cut so short that the ball would only go straight when there was slope on the greens. Disappointing.
Western Skies 2-12-25
Fairways and greens were a bit hard and dry. Still a decent place to play.
Tough conditions
First time I’ve seen this course have to spray dirt and Bermuda stubble. It’s never been this rough. However, stick to middle of fairways and hit the greens and it’s okay
Course needs work
They’ve let the course go. It was once nice but the conditions are rough. Greens are like glass the fairways are thin. Very disappointing considering the amount. Not worth the price.
A Little Rough
First time here. Price was right. Overall course was in fair condition. Greens were so so. Rough and areas around the greens were poor. Fairways were spotty. Pro Shop staff was very friendly. Beverage cart lady was also very nice.
THANKS TO THE STAFF!!!
My wife and friends have played here 2x's in the last month. We both appreciate the staff, pace of play and course layout. A lot of fun. We'll be back and bringing more freinds....
Great Course, Friendly Staff! Five Stars!
I love this course, and I love their people. The course is (somehow) always in perfect shape, and the people there treat everyone like royalty. It's a fun course with lots of scoring opportunities, and you'll have a great time. FIVE STARS! Richard R.
Western Skies
Fun course, moderately challenging with quick greens. We finished in 3 1/2 hours, even though the tee sheet was full in the morning!
Would highly recommend Western Skies as good value for the money. Playing there again later this week!
If You Can't Score Here, You Can't Score!
Western Skies is a super forgiving golf course, and it's in fantastic shape 12 months a year! Wide fairways, lots of bailout room, big, flat, soft greens and 9 of the 10 par 4's are under 340 yards to the front. (from the white tees) If you can't score here, it's your fault! Oh, and the staff are all super nice people! Five Stars for Western Skies. Richard R.
