Western Skies Golf Club
About
Western Skies Golf Club is an 18-hole championship golf course open to the public, based in Gilbert, Arizona. Since its inception in 1992, it has gained recognition as one of the most economical golf spots in the East Valley, providing an enjoyable and friendly atmosphere for players of varying abilities. The course, crafted by famous golf course designer Brian Whitcomb, features broad, playable fairways along with thoughtfully positioned bunkers and water hazards, creating a design that appeals to novices while keeping seasoned golfers engaged.
This par-72 course extends roughly 6,744 yards from the championship tees and offers picturesque views of the Superstition Mountains. Its layout focuses on enhancing playability while still emphasizing precision and careful course navigation. Notable holes, which include various high-risk, high-reward par 4s and demanding par 3s over water, ensure memorable experiences throughout the game. Open throughout the year, the course benefits from Arizona's favorable weather patterns and well-maintained playing surfaces.
In addition to the golf course itself, Western Skies provides a well-rounded golf experience, including a cutting-edge practice facility featuring a driving range enhanced by Inrange technology, putting greens, areas for short-game practice, and learning programs. Golf enthusiasts can also shop at a fully stocked pro shop and dine at Mulligans Grill, the club's restaurant and sports bar, making it a favorite spot to visit both before and after a round.
Positioned conveniently just minutes away from Loop 202 and US-60, and around 20 minutes from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Western Skies appeals to both local players and tourists. The club fosters a friendly environment underscored by its tagline, "Where Locals Bring Their Friends," highlighting its commitment to customer satisfaction, affordability, and community involvement. It also provides membership options, hosts tournaments, organizes leagues, and holds special events throughout the year.
Ultimately, Western Skies Golf Club stands out for offering a pleasing and accessible golfing experience that merges quality course conditions, modern practice facilities, and outstanding value. The blend of a challenging yet accommodating design, a convenient location, and a welcoming ambiance has established it as a preferred choice for golfers across the Phoenix metropolitan region.

Golfer Reviews
Great shape
The course was in great shape n pace of play was excellent. The only complaint I have is that there are few if any ball washers n not much drinking water on the course. Otherwise it was a great experience. Even the grill was top notch. Home made potato chips were a pleasant surprise.
Great Course, Great People!
Any skill level will enjoy Western Skies. The course is always in almost perfect shape, and the design is very forgiving. The staff are the best thing about Western Skies, including Maddie, Pays, Kyle, Jim, Ed, Mike, Isaac, Matt, Ryan, and all the rest! Five Stars! R. R.
Great Course (except for the wet bunkers!)
Great, forgiving course. Fun for all skill levels. They've always had nice dry, fluffy sand. This year, they've started watering all the bunkers every day! WHY? Peace.
I’ll be back soon
I was actually satisfied with the conditions. I’ll be back to play again soon. The value for the money was good. I teed off at 10:30 and was done and in my car leaving at 1:15. The staff was friendly and got me going. I was able to sneak out ahead of a foursome. The golf shop staff was nice to let me just go ahead of time so I didn’t get stuck behind groups. I saw the cart girl 2x per 9 which was perfect.
Great Course, Great People!
Great course! (Except for the soggy sand traps) They used to have nice, fluffy dry sand in the bunkers. Now every single one of them is wet! I don't know what happened this year. Enjoy this fun course, but don't get in those muddy bunkers! Vote Blue!
Great Course. You'll Love it!
I don't know how they keep this great course in such fantastic shape year round! It's a fun and forgiving course, great for all skill levels, and the people there are fantastic! R. R.
Excellent Course for Everyone!
Western Skies is an excellent course for any skill level. The fairways and greens are large and forgiving, and always in perfect shape. You'll enjoy playing there. Five Stars! Rich R.
Friendly Course, Friendly Staff!
You'll enjoy Western Skies Golf Club. Wide flat fairways, big flat greens, and short, straight par fours make this a forgiving course that's great for all levels. And the staff always treat me like family! Enjoy. R. R.
Great Course, Fantastic Staff!
I play Western Skies Golf Club approx 75 times per year. It's always in great shape, (somehow), and It's easy to score there. The people there are especially nice! (Even to me!) You'll like it there. Five stars!
Amazing shape amidst summer heat!
I have played numerous courses in the east valley of Phoenix and Western Skies has been in the best shape of them all. Playing on a weekday is substantially more relaxing and enjoyable due to less people, pace of play was great. I was a single and had virtually nobody behind nor in front.
Greens were optimal during season, good speed and soft enough to spin the ball backwards. Fairways were hit and miss as some holes had bald spots, but again summer months can be difficult upkeep, but overall in good shape.
Fast Play, Forgiving Course, Great People!
I played on Wednesday in 2 hours and 35 minutes. This is a great course, always in great shape, and the people that work there are super nice! Five Stars!
