The Clubs at Arrowhead - Legend Course
About
Located in the west valley, The Clubs at Arrowhead - Legend Course (formerly known as the Legend at Arrowhead Golf Club) is an Arnold Palmer/Ed Seay-designed golf course with a traditional layout. The challenging course has six lakes creating water hazards on many of the holes and several doglegs. The difficult to read greens are undulating and in excellent condition. Each hole, except for one, has bunkering on the fairways or protecting the greens. The Clubs at Arrowhead - Legend Course's signature hole is the par-4, 426-yard fifth hole. It calls for a shot off an elevated tee with water running along the right side of the fairway as well as next to the green.

Ok for the money
Arrowhead is one of those courses that is like an ex girlfriend you can’t get over - overall fairways were in good condition and greens were fast and well manicured - why you should break up with her - pace was molasses - no time management from office, every group was sent out early back to back and where right on top of each other - had three groups waiting on a twosome that were trying to fish their balls out of the lake. We were in a threesome and round was just under 5 hours - we ended up quitting on 16 because it was impossible to get into a groove and we would just sit on the tee box and have to watch two different groups tee off. All groups were twosomes and threesome - no effort to combine to quicken play - Sand traps were horrific, no sand or what sand was there was hard as a rock and there were multiple pebbles in the trap, almost like hitting out of the Arizona desert and impossible to lob any shots - last but not least no cart girl - make sure to bring drinks. For $50 it’s an ok course but might find a more enjoyable round somewhere else
First round in AZ wasn’t the best
We had trouble with our tee time, but we were told that they would accommodate us. After about 30 minutes of waiting we finally had a tee time. Check in was very slow, and there was a line of people that they checked in before us. Finally the pro (I think) checked us in very efficiently. We paid $39 for a 12:37 tee time. $5 for a bag of balls. The starter was excellent! He shared info about the course and even gave a couple of tips for playing some of the holes. We watched as he dealt with a disgruntled golfer teeing off before us. He handled the situation with grace. As far as the course, greens were fine, fairways okay, but the rough was rough! I’m not sure if the sand traps really contained sand. More dirt than sand and difficult to hit out of. Layout was fine, but nothing very memorable.
less than stellar
Very disappointing
Pro shop staffer chided me for using Golf Now, saying I could have obtained better rate from the course.
Course conditions were poor. Lots of traps, but all were filled with rocks and rock hard sand, showed little maintenance. The rough was bare ground. Goose crap covered multiple greens. Never again-
Superintendent must have Been angry
This course is a 72 on the score card but it played like a par 74 or 75 today. All the hole locations were tucked behind the (no sand) bunkers, and or were on volcanos making it hard to stop the ball near the hole. There were other elements making it more difficult today but those are the ones relevant for this review.
I love the layout of this course. It has difficulty in each and every hole. None are the same. I would recommend this course if the superintendent doesn’t go mad.
Good Design
Good course design but a couple of the holes needed maintenance in the sand traps,,,,,too hard and require sand in them.
Not worth
I actually grew up playing here and remembered it being decent but man oh man has that changed for the worse. It’s never in good condition and one member from the staff didn’t let me go to the range one time because I didn’t have a collard shirt on lol! I don’t know when they got so fancy but it’s not worth the $25 to play there. Plenty of other options.
Greens and fairways in very good condition
Challenging greens and a lot of fun! Only issue was three times we had single players coming through playing through our threesome. All else was grand!
Just awesome
Just a nice afternoon of golf, with who ever they put me with.
Slow
We waited on every tee box and every shot. I don't know why this course plays so slow. It really is not that difficult.
Greens are still recovering from over-seed. Course was still wet from rains from previous few days.
The cart guys need to change out the sand in the bottles. Both of mine had the seeds sprout in them as a solid block so you couldn't use them.
Nice Course
Very nice course nice fairways nice greens horrible bunkers. No sand other than that fun course.
Looking good after over seed...
Course was in nice condition. Greens were decent pace. Was a nice day out on course.
Nice turned Frigid conditions.
Really nice day turned real Wintery and Blustery in short order, got paired W/a couple of Nice Guys too. The grass has come out nice after overseeding and the greens rolled out well, surprising as they looked a little fuzzy.
Bunkers are ALWAY iffy There but the couple I was in played OK I guess, will definitely return soon Folks -B Well.
Nice course, too crowded
The course is very nice and in great shape but we waited on every single hole and no Marshall to check the pace. On one hole 3 different groups were on the hole.
Not Well Maintained
I have not played there in a while so I thought I would give it a try. Fairways are heavily overwatered in several areas. You take chunks of mud when you hit. The bunkered are hard as a rock or the have standing water in them. I like the layout and the course has potential if they would put some money into and hire someone who knows how to properly maintain a course. Oh and the pace of play was very slow. The twosome who was with us had their cart quit and they had to tow out another one. We saw this happen 3 more times with other foursomes. I don’t think I will return anytime soon
Grass is GREEN!
They just over seeded! Course is good shape! NOW if they can keep it that way!
Love playing here - it’s a challenge for sure! It would be good to see the beer cart more than once in 18 holes!!!!!
no sand in sand traps
the golf trap have know sand just take them out of the sand traps only play if it is a good deal other wise find another course
A course NOT for beginners
This course is not a course for beginners or first time learners, it is very tight in between the Arrowhead neighborhoods and houses are easy to hit, the condition of the course is never really good but playable. It is a challenging course and fun to play, during this summer rough is too thick And fluffy and easy to lose your ball, most of the tees are in pretty good shape but the greens are terrible with plenty of diverts that people with no integrity think they don’t have to fix them. I live very close to the course and the fees are very cheap compared to other near by course’s like the 500 club.
