Golf Club of Estrella is the very first golf course on a daily-fee basis to be designed by Jack Nicklaus II in Phoenix, where it makes its home in the master-planned community Estrella, and offers 18 holes of par-72 championship golf over 7,102 unique yards. The many tests of the golf course will impress every level of golfer - though a choice of tee sets ensures no one will get in over his or her head. Desert and wash spaces require golfers to vary their shots while they take in vistas from the fairways shaped to the contour of the land and framed in the Sierra Estrella Mountains.

A round of golf at the Golf Club Estrella kicks off on Morning Star, a par 4 that measures 359 yards from the black tees. If you stick to the black tees, you'll need to conserve your energy for The Arroyo, the 16th hole, a par 5 that measures 605 yards. After that, Evening Star, the 18th hole, will be a relative breeze, at par 4 and just 437 yards from the black teees.

Once the round of golf at the Golf Club of Estrella is over, head back to the Player's Grill Restaurant for American pub fare and Southwestern snacks.

What’s with the bunkers?

Good course but what’s with the bunkers? Hard pan and lots of pebbles. Became problematic on some of the greens as it was strewn about. Likely some of the worst in Scottsdale.

Pace of Play

The pace of play was brutal!!! It took us close to five hours to complete our round. There was a corporate event that took place earlier that morning and they were very slow. The golf club should have had,(maybe they did,)personal out on the course hurrying the participants along. The average wait time on each hole was close to twenty minutes. We met the ranger twice on the course and he did explain there was delays on each hole but never experienced anything like this. Only saw the beverage cart person once while on the course.

Estrella Golf Course

The staff from the men at the bag drop location to the pro shop and the rangers are the gold standard for a golf course! Everyone was unbelievably pleasant and efficient! I normally do not take the time to write a review however, they definitely deserve a great one!

Good shape

Estrella was in good shape. Greens fast and firm. Grainy in front of punching season but that’s Bermuda for ya. Everything else was fine fairways good. The bunkers are full of rocks so that could be improved.

Expected a bit more from a troon course

Played lots of troon courses - this ones average - lots of beat up areas entering fairways etc that make me wonder about the price charged but it is what it is. Staff was extremely friendly so kudos to everyone there! Too many rocks in the bunkers too. So I would say they take the 50 bucks over what the price should be and first get the bunkers with no rocks then work on the little things around tee off boxes and fairway entry spots and bobs your uncle
