Wigwam Resort - Red Course
About
The Red Course (formerly known as Heritage Course) at the Wigwam Resort, which has received acclaim from Golf Magazine, is one of three 18-hole courses at the resort. Built on rolling terrain, the course features elevation changes that can affect shots. Mature trees are also scattered throughout to add beauty and another challenging element. Winding creeks form water hazards that come into play on a few holes. The Red Course is popular among locals familiar with the Wigwam Resort because it is considered to have the three best finishing holes in the area. Although walking is allowed on the other two courses, carts are required on the Red Course.

Good round
Played the Red course and it was nice. Can use some sand in the bunkers but very playable and a fair course for all levels.
Good Value.....but
Great layout and decent price but tee boxes are dreadful and sand traps awful. Is there a sand shortage in the desert?? Also no drinking water in the course. It's 95 degrees out there!!
Great day if golf.
Course was in great shape. Not super challenging. Staff was great and pace of play was very good. Finished in less than 4 hours.
Player friendly track
We enjoyed our mid-week round on the Red course. It took us 3:45 to complete the round but we moved steadily and had a terrific foursome. The one annoying factor is that the course is located near an Air Force base so you heard the sounds of heavy duty fighter jets taking off regularly. On balance, however, a very enjoyable golf experience.
Really nice course
First time playing, great course will play again. Don’t miss out go play.
Nice amenities
Course in pretty good shape, forward tees need water as couldn’t get Tee in ground especially 18 hole, one starter great the other not so friendly, club house staff great, practice facilities great, as with all courses in AZ this year rates are too high.
Couple we played with played too fast , hardly putted and we are fast golfers. But they were nice enough.
Basic golf at a premium price
Not a horrible course but it is far from a premium tract the price might lead you to believe it is. You can find many, many other choices for the nearly $100 fee.
Pace of play was awful. Literally waited on every shot. Ranger was visible but never seemed to move the slow pokes along.
Slow play is the number one complaint that most golfers will have. Club owners / operators know this. I never understand why clubs tolerate slow play and why they don't rigorously enforce pace of play. For my money it is the one thing that will keep me from ever playing a course again.
Wigwam Red Course
Wigwam Red Course is a good value. It’s not near as manicured as other courses in the Phoenix area, but those courses are also twice the cost. The fairways are green and give a good lie most of the time, and the greens are in very nice shape. They are really firm and fast though, so I wasn’t accustomed to that being from Arkansas.
All in all, I recommend Wigwam Red Course for the value.
My favorite of the 3
I’ve always enjoyed playing the Red course because I like the layout. Bunkers could use some fluffy sand…or, just sand. Everything else was good and the cart girl (Tiffany) did a GREAT job. She stopped by 3 times during our round. I’ll be back.
