Wigwam Resort - Red Course
About
The Red Course (formerly known as Heritage Course) at the Wigwam Resort, which has received acclaim from Golf Magazine, is one of three 18-hole courses at the resort. Built on rolling terrain, the course features elevation changes that can affect shots. Mature trees are also scattered throughout to add beauty and another challenging element. Winding creeks form water hazards that come into play on a few holes. The Red Course is popular among locals familiar with the Wigwam Resort because it is considered to have the three best finishing holes in the area. Although walking is allowed on the other two courses, carts are required on the Red Course.

Great Phoenix Course
First time playing this course ( Red) and it was in excellent shape. So far one of the best condition courses in Phoenix and I have played all over the past 2 weeks. . Greens excellent condition and very nice layout of the holes, with fairways that have thick grass instead of bare spots. Will play again here and I had to drive 45min but it was worth it.
Great course
The course was in beautiful condition and the speed of play was very good. Second time to Wigwam and both times were very enjoyable.
Nice course
First time playing. Fairways, greens were in great shape. At the club house they gave me my own cart as I was a single. Got to the first tee and they made me jump into another cart with another single. Wouldn't let me take a cart as I argued about covid rules, the starter was rude about it. As for game play, it wasn't super busy so it was as fast as we wanted to go. I would go back for sure.
Always a pleasure
This is one of the best golf courses we choose to play at. We played the Red course this time. The staff is very welcoming, friendly and willing to help. The practice area is one of the best! Balls are provided with the green fee giving you the opportunity to warm up before your round. The course is in great condition. Greens are large but fast. You can land short and still roll a long way. Pace of play was very good. All in all a great experience. Will be back there tomottow to play the Blue course.
Player-friendly; a warm hug of a golf course
There are different schools of thought about what "resort golf" should be. Some resort courses are built with the intent to wow and stimulate golfers with big challenges, tons of hazards and the potential for disaster lurking around most every corner. Other resort courses are more of an extension of the feeling of relaxation the resort itself tries to deliver.
Wigwam Red is of the latter sort. It's not going to beat you up, but it will hold your attention just long enough to get you through your 18 holes in a relaxed manner. Located down the street from the other two courses, it sits in a neighborhood with some nice, mild elevation changes and winds through pleasant homes set back far enough to keep you from feeling too much pressure. The bunkers are shallow, the greens are gentle and there's water on just a few holes. It's not the most memorable course ever built, but as a spot for a relaxing vacation round, it does its job well.
Little things not good
Course condition was good. Lots of green grass. Pace was bit slow. Group in front was quite slow. Never saw a marshal to talk to. Practice range had very dirty golf balls and we had to ask to have water put into club washing containers. Bristles also very worn. Staff said the ballwasher has been down for months. Really? Peak season this is not good. No distances to the pins on the range I saw.
Been here several times over the years. This was most disappointing.
Great golf experience
Wigwam is a gem! Loved this place from the first second. Very cool facility and immaculate golf conditions. Course was pretty easy but I hear the Gold course is much tougher than the red I played.
Very good golf course
Greens were less than perfect condition,
Greens were disappointing as they seemed sparce on the overseed grass and were very sandy. It would be nice for your starter to hand out a scorecards instead of the nonstop rant of information he gave us on the course, etc.
