Wigwam Resort - Red Course
About
The Red Course (formerly known as Heritage Course) at the Wigwam Resort, which has received acclaim from Golf Magazine, is one of three 18-hole courses at the resort. Built on rolling terrain, the course features elevation changes that can affect shots. Mature trees are also scattered throughout to add beauty and another challenging element. Winding creeks form water hazards that come into play on a few holes. The Red Course is popular among locals familiar with the Wigwam Resort because it is considered to have the three best finishing holes in the area. Although walking is allowed on the other two courses, carts are required on the Red Course.

Little things not good
Course condition was good. Lots of green grass. Pace was bit slow. Group in front was quite slow. Never saw a marshal to talk to. Practice range had very dirty golf balls and we had to ask to have water put into club washing containers. Bristles also very worn. Staff said the ballwasher has been down for months. Really? Peak season this is not good. No distances to the pins on the range I saw.
Been here several times over the years. This was most disappointing.
Great golf experience
Wigwam is a gem! Loved this place from the first second. Very cool facility and immaculate golf conditions. Course was pretty easy but I hear the Gold course is much tougher than the red I played.
Very good golf course
Greens were less than perfect condition,
Greens were disappointing as they seemed sparce on the overseed grass and were very sandy. It would be nice for your starter to hand out a scorecards instead of the nonstop rant of information he gave us on the course, etc.
Great day
Course was in great condition and pace of play was fabulous less than 4 hours. Enjoy the wigwam
Gold in the West
Go west young man ... was heard because it was believed that there was gold in California.
But actually, just stop in Phoenix area of Arizona and go to the west valley and you will find the gold, red & blue .
Wigwam golf resort has a gold, red & blue course that are always challenging and fun to experience.
The practice area & staff are always ready for your energy.
Bring it, shape it and play them all.
Wigwam is always good
The Red (Heritage) is my favorite of the 3 courses. It has challenges for anyone, but isn't punishing. I enjoyed it at a 4 and now enjoy it at 16 handicap .
Great value
I plated the Red course. A bit of a cart ride. Played with 3 guys from Denver, had a great time. Sneaky long, great greens. Pave of place ok. No ranger. Cart gal didn’t take credit cards? No water on course. Other than that I’d recommend.
Horrible Rough
The grass in the rough was 6-8" long with big clumps of mulch. If you were not in the fairway, it was impossible to get a good shot. Not even a first cut - fairway or nothing! Seemed a bit ridiculous to not have better conditions for an $80 round.
Need to repaint your red line to get to and from the course.
Beverage cart was not available on front nine.
Driving range balls were quite muddy and hitting of mats.
Fairway length of grass was a bit long. (Probably due to recent over seeding).
The pace of play and quality of the greens offset the few negatives mentioned above.
Great course
I always love playing Wigwam. I specifically picked Red course today because it was supposed to be off cart path restriction (per GolfNow and phone call to course). Unfortunately when we checked in this morning the cart path restriction was still in place. Ended up getting my husband a handicap exemption half way through and it all worked out but more pleasant to play when you can drive out to your ball.
Fairways and greens are in great shape. The rough is way too long and grabby! Will play again in a couple of weeks.
I Tried
I’ve played the Wigwam courses before and never felt satisfied. It has potential, but fairways and greens are in tough shape too often. I decided I would try it again after overseeing (who’s not in good shape right after overseed, right?). I tried, but still disappointed. The fairways and rough were close to the same length grass. We were having trouble finding balls in the fairways. Greens were hard and not holding. You would think with it being a resort course they would want it pristine, but no such luck. Like I said, I tried, but I don’t think I’ll try again…too many other better options.
