The Red Course (formerly known as Heritage Course) at the Wigwam Resort, which has received acclaim from Golf Magazine, is one of three 18-hole courses at the resort. Built on rolling terrain, the course features elevation changes that can affect shots. Mature trees are also scattered throughout to add beauty and another challenging element. Winding creeks form water hazards that come into play on a few holes. The Red Course is popular among locals familiar with the Wigwam Resort because it is considered to have the three best finishing holes in the area. Although walking is allowed on the other two courses, carts are required on the Red Course.

Very Slow Greens
Playing Wigwam for the first time (the Red Course). Very traditional layout, with treelined fairways. Tee boxes were fairly level and maintained; fairways were in good condition; many sand traps were rocky, while others were wet; greens were very slow and appeared to have been sanded recently. Pace of play was good. Course was acceptable for a discounted rate from GolfNow. The real challenge was getting through Phoenix from the East Valley.

I was golfing with 7 other guys on a golf trip. This was one of the nicer courses we played. All enjoyed the course. I am moving to Az and will put this on my list of courses to come back to.
