Wigwam Resort - Red Course
About
The Red Course (formerly known as Heritage Course) at the Wigwam Resort, which has received acclaim from Golf Magazine, is one of three 18-hole courses at the resort. Built on rolling terrain, the course features elevation changes that can affect shots. Mature trees are also scattered throughout to add beauty and another challenging element. Winding creeks form water hazards that come into play on a few holes. The Red Course is popular among locals familiar with the Wigwam Resort because it is considered to have the three best finishing holes in the area. Although walking is allowed on the other two courses, carts are required on the Red Course.

Tree removal
I felt the coarse had way to many large trees along the fairways. This made the coarse very challenging and slowed play. Now that they have removed several trees its great. If you don't hit the fairway at least you have some sort of a shot.
Great value
Nice, traditional layout. Course is in terrific shape. A great value. We live in Chandler and make the trip out there for this course.
Wigwam Red Course
Wigwam Red is my favorite of the three wigwam courses. I’ have seen it in better condition. There’s lots of grass to maintain, I realize. There are no brown areas with dead Bermuda, so I understand it’s not going to be perfect. Having said that it just seem like It was a little rough. The greens were not fast, at least it’s not as fast as Other courses I’ve played lately in the valley. Still an excellent course, and staff.
Worth the trip to Litchfield Park
Course is in great shape. Traditional layout with mature trees, not a desert course. Greens were really nice. Slow play, waited on every hole, but still played in 4 1/2 hours. Otherwise no complaints at all.
Nice course with good amenities
I have played the Heritage course many times and enjoy it each time. Takes some time to figure out how to play a few of the holes. Finally parred 18!
Frost delay = bad service and extremely slow play
They forced a 90 minute frost delay to start a Saturday in January. They could never catch up with that long of a delay, which was an unreasonable amount with almost no frost of the ground. The staff made no effort to warn anyone before arriving, so everything was crowded all day long. Checking in with the starter, to see where things were, was even worse as everyone was spoken down to, and told to hang out and be ready to “not miss your time”. Funny that it’s on us to be on time but we don’t really know what our tee time will be. Once we got on the course, everyone was pretty irritable, playing with little respect for each other. The conditions were also not great. Fairways were nice, but holes all over the course, divots all over the greens (no one repairing ball marks), and no way to repair divots in tee boxes or fairways. Marshals would check in and say/do nothing to continue pace of play. This was a huge waste of time (6+ hours) and money today. Don’t waste your time.
