Wigwam Resort - Red Course
About
The Red Course (formerly known as Heritage Course) at the Wigwam Resort, which has received acclaim from Golf Magazine, is one of three 18-hole courses at the resort. Built on rolling terrain, the course features elevation changes that can affect shots. Mature trees are also scattered throughout to add beauty and another challenging element. Winding creeks form water hazards that come into play on a few holes. The Red Course is popular among locals familiar with the Wigwam Resort because it is considered to have the three best finishing holes in the area. Although walking is allowed on the other two courses, carts are required on the Red Course.

Great time with friendly people
I'm 18, and I've been Golfing since I was 3, but for the past 3-4 years I haven't played a full 18 round game. Today I finally broke that streak and I'm glad I played here. The grass to me was pretty good and we had to play with another 2 people to make it 4 people total for play. The people my brother and I played with were definitely friendly and we had a great time. This course is a very good place to play on if you got a buddy, or better a 4 friend group.
Amazing Course
The course was in amazing shape, very wide open and forgiving, but also had its difficulties as well which made it very fun. Most if not all the greens were in great shape. All of the staff was friendly and helpful, especially the starter for the red course. I’d highly recommend this course to people with an intermediate and above skill level because it is a longer course and slightly more difficult than some.
Will never play Wigwam again
I forgot we decided last summer we would never play this course again because of the poor conditions. You just can’t find any grass on the fairways. Wigwam charges high prices for these courses that are nothing more than low level Municipal courses. They think they are a big deal but they are not. Also need to put buckets of water on the range for towels. Our GPS was not set up to work on our cart. The cart attendants didn’t seem to know they had towels for hot golfers. Never going back.
Potential but disappointing
Course has felt the effects of the summer heat. Lots of spotty fairways, anything around the fringe basically had no grass, weeds growing in the tee boxes. I have played all the Wigwam courses in the past and they have always been in top notch shape. Greens were fine and the staff is always very accommodating but the conditions were not impressive. I know it’s the summer months in AZ but I expected more from a resort facility.
Great Day at Wigwam Red
Weather was stunningly perfect for May 28. Course was in great shape. Overall A+ experience.
Course had excellent 3 finishing holes
Course not as good as other 2 WigWam courses - excellent fairway conditions. I was not in any traps but they appeared quite poor for lack of sand. Enjoyed the round - 3 of us played in 3.5 hours!
heritage
Second time out this year. Course was in great shape for the most part. Some bare spots here and there. I still can't believe they're stuck in the 70's with the water fountains. They don't work or are pumping out warm , horrible tasting water. Get rid of them and put in water jugs !!
Wigwam Red end of Feb/2019
Weather was great for our afternoon round.pace of play was very good..fairways vg .many sand traps visited could have used some additional sand.green were firm not holding some approach shots hence fast greens .overall nice casual round will return given the opportunity
Tricky Greens
Nice course in good condition, not too tough but lots of slope on the greens means that you must try to position your ball below the hole to score well!
DIsappointing
Our expectations were crushed when the food shack on the Red course had no sandwiches, no buns for the hot dogs and virtually no food. Obviously the greens keeper must have been in a terrible mood as we had about 6 greens with impossible pin placements. The only thing missing was the clown face and wind mill. The weather was great as was the company which made the day more bearable.
muni at resort prices
This was my first and last time playing Wigwam Red.
No sand in the bunkers no grass on the greens pin placements where ridiculous every hole was cut on a side slope.
Good facilities
This resort has very nice facilities and 3 golf courses to choose from. The staff is friendly and helpful. The courses offer a challenging experience for all. The greens are usually fast and true. The course condition this time was not as good as we have experienced in the past, but still very playable.
