Wigwam Resort - Gold Course
About
The Gold Course is one of three 18-hole courses offered at the Wigwam Resort, which was named one of Golf Magazine's "Silver Medal Resorts." Golf Digest cited the Gold Course as one of the best public courses in the state. Mature trees are present on all of the courses, as well as winding creeks that create water hazards, which come into play on several holes. There are also strategically placed sand bunkers present on the course. The rolling landscape of the course causes elevation changes that can affect shots. The Wigwam Resort facility also has a putting green and chipping area.

Good course for the money
This course was in excellent condition, very playable, but with considerable length and well
bunkered greens to make it a challenge for anyone.
Unfortunately on this particular day they had groups of young children ahead of us practicing for a junior tournament. This slowed the pace of play considerably.
Great Condition- True Greens
I am a low handicap golfer and know golf and what average playing conditions are...This course was in great overall condition. My buddy and I played Trilogy, Los Caballeros, Quintero and here this week alone and there was no comparison when it came to "overall" condition. The greens were quick (rolling 11) and provide only a small landing area but were better BY FAR than every course we played over the last two weeks. The course has been managed well obviously. The staff were great too. The only down side I wasn't a fan of the range but like I say, that was the only down side.
Challenging layout from the Jones tees.
The gold course is a very good test of golf from the Jones tees. The greens were running slow and they were firm which made it even tougher but it was a good layout and good conditions.
Very nice course
Well maintained course and trained staffs, very nice and fast green, Thank you
slow play...
Front nine was great on pace of play, then we got to the back nine. We had a 5 some starting on hole 10 right in front of us. We had no one in front of us until this point. 1hour 25 minutes on the front and 2 hours and 45 minutes on the back. Dark spots on the greens but they still rolled rather smooth. For the money I wouldn't pay over $45 to play this course again. By the way this was the gold course that was suppose to be the best.
Long and challenging.
Played the combo tees on the scorecard, with these tees the course played to 7,000 yards. Very challenging at this length. Course was in great shape with fast true greens. Round was completed in just under 4 hours. Will definitely play the Gold course again.
Nore traditional than most desert courses
The course was in great shape and I enjoyed it very much
Beautiful weather and course conditions
Great pace of play. Only thing was I had a group of older folks in front of me on back 9 that I caught up to and they played slow, several rehearsal swings, site it up, waggle..... chunk. Process repeated..... and repeated ;-) On one hole I sliced to other fairway and they picked up my ball after looking around! I didn't say anything, just laughed. Still got the round in at 4 hours as I had a quick pace in my twosome with nobody in front til we caught the snowbirds. I will go back to play it again, stay for lunch, etc.
PUt Wigwam o your list
Played Gold course. Fairways, rough, greens all great shape. My pace was almost too quick to enjoy the course! I was matched with one other for a twesome. He was 5 handicap. I'm 13. W were done in less than3 hours.
Ask about cart path only.
Course was in excellent shape. While we still finished in a little over four hours, we felt pushed by walkers! No one had mentioned that it was still cart path only until we showed up to play. In spite of this, Wigwam is still one of the best golf courses in the valley and we had a great time.
Great old style course
Keep your drive in fairway as rough is a half stroke penalty
Beautiful Course
Enjoyed the play and well maintained course. Championship challenge !
Too shaggy to recommend.
hate to mark negatively but a personal pet peeve is shaggy tees and fairways. Would play again only if I could guarantee good conditions. Greens were good though. Cart path only a pain due to overseedding also, cannot tell difference between fairway and rough really. If full price of I would be livid. I will try and support them again but will be a while. Nice facility otherwise, road out front is awesome! Until further notice only play if you get a smokin deal.
weather was good
weather was great, a little disappointing to play up at the white tees due to not playing very well that day and finding all the par 3s playing over or close to 200 yds. There's a reason when you move up to mens regular tees, you dont want to play par 3s that are close to 200 yds! Other than that course was a little wet and muddy but overall was good. If your not playing well course conditions not very forgiving.
Nice course
I really like this facility, great atmosphere on patio, courses are fun and cheap, conditions were good coming out of overseeding. Had a fun day out there.
Poor Condition
First time at the Wigwam and was really disappointed. Driving range in poor shape with dead grass all over the place, cleaning bucket didn't have a brush, dirty water in it and one towel floating in the bottom. Went to hit a few putts and found both putting greens were closed. Headed to the tee box but no starter. Guy drove up and told me there was a twosome joining me. He came back stating he couldn't find them. Tee areas were in poor shape and not mowed. Fairway grass was long, no one was fixing divits. I went through 7 btls of sand in my round. Greens where SLOW, grass was the height of fairways. Some bunkers had grass growing in them. Don't waste your money play someplace else.
Nice tract
My son and I played a cool overcast day so the cart path only wasn't quite the pain it usually might be.
Being recently over seeded was a challenge with rough 4-6 inches and fairways uncut. Mature trees and plentiful bunkers dotted with water hazards was both beautiful and challenging. Par five small greens were appropriately guarded with numerous bunkers. I would recommend this course. Very playable but offered enough doglegs and tree issues to keep you focused on where to place the ball in play to set up your next shot. As it should be in good course design, it had a finishing hole into the wind that produced my only double bogey. Fun day.
Poor Conditions 11-1-14
Just came out of over seeding. That said, Fairways were not cut until hole 12, could not see ball on fairways up until hole 12. Roughs were very wet and very thick and long throughout course. Sand traps were all very poor, wet, hard with little to no loose sand.
NICE COURSE
Overseeding so condition was okay but no one behind or in front...good value for the money. Championship course so longer than our foursome could handle...all felt it a challenge.
Horrible conditions
Course was just off over seed. Greens were uncut, very difficult to putt on, fairways were uncut, we lost balls in the centre of faiways. In general the course was in unplayable condition. At no time were we told of the course condition. There was no access to drinking water on the course. Staff in pro shop and on course staff never mentioned course poor condition. We will not play Wigwam courses in the future. For the extra couple of hundred dollars that Wigwam golf courses received for that day of golf they did so much damage to the course reputation.
