Wigwam Resort - Gold Course
About
The Gold Course is one of three 18-hole courses offered at the Wigwam Resort, which was named one of Golf Magazine's "Silver Medal Resorts." Golf Digest cited the Gold Course as one of the best public courses in the state. Mature trees are present on all of the courses, as well as winding creeks that create water hazards, which come into play on several holes. There are also strategically placed sand bunkers present on the course. The rolling landscape of the course causes elevation changes that can affect shots. The Wigwam Resort facility also has a putting green and chipping area.

Outstanding condition
If you can find a better value-let me know. Great con

Good Track
Had fun at Wigwam Gold. Generous fairways and great bunkers. My only concern was the greens were a bit in the hard side.
I would play again.
Wigwam Gold very enjoyable
We enjoyed our round at Wigwam Gold.... Nobody in front of us, so we moved at a good pace. Fairways and roughs in excellent shape. The sand traps could use more sand as they were a bit hard... The greens rolled nice, but were a bit hard so backspin was non existent. We all really enjoyed the round
Great course
Great course and very tough from the tips. A lot of tricky tee shots with unknown distances for landing area. I wish they would have a map of the course on the scorecard so you knew where you were going. I should have asked for a yardage book in the clubhouse...that would have helped.
Poor Service
I had a tee time (Gold Course) at 1:15pm today (April 12, 2015). I arrived about 12:15pm and was not greeted by anyone. One of the staff passed me carrying my bag and did not even speak to me - let alone ask if he could help with my bag. I checked in, loaded myself in a cart and went to the practice area. At check-in I was told that I would be joining a 2 some. Since they do not call players to the tee - I had to watch the clock. I was told to arrive at the tee about 5 minutes prior to my tee time. I watched the clock and arrived at the tee at 1:07pm. Then I was told that my playing partners had just teed off. A new starter had just arrived at the tee - then said you can play alone. I said I did not want to play alone. Another group (3 some) was at the tee and said I could join them. I said okay - thinking they were next up. Nope - they put another 4 some in front of my new group. Play was slow - with no marshal in sight. After 10 holes, I skipped 2 holes and played the last 6 holes as a single. When I came in - no one helped me with my bag. I took the bag off my cart and headed out. About halfway to the exit corridor I get "Can I help you sir". Wow - what customer service. I will not be back.
Patriot Course
We asked to be moved to the Patriot course because we had played the Gold course and it was ridiculously long. We did not get a reduction in price despite the Patriot being no where near as nice and its tee boxes and greens were in terrible condition. Pace of play was very, very slow.
Very disappointing, very poor value for the money.
Great conditions tough approaches.
Course was in great shape. Fairways are perfect. Played Saturday morning on the gold and a lot of the pins were tucked and very difficult spots. Doesn't make for very fast play. That should be addressed. Otherwise I enjoy playing the course.
Wigwam Patriot course (Blue)
Course seems to get less play than the other two at this facility so times are pretty open. It is short at just 6,000 yards. It is a real challenge for any golfer! Greens were hard as you would expect this time of year in AZ. Not unfair and rolled very nice. I would play here again for sure.
Nice course
Enjoyed the Patriot course, pace of play was excellent, Course is well used. Many of the bunkers are terrible, just dirt/mud. Greens are moderate, tee boxes are a little worn. Open (but screwy) layout so recovery from an errant shot is possible. Beverage cart was well stocked and had a friendly young lady who made certain she made her rounds to golfers often.
The pro shop was well stocked and staff was friendly The restaurant after the round was excellent
Great Course
The Gold Course is very nice. Well bunkered greens make the course tough but fair.
Great Course, but long
This is a great course, but it is pretty long. Can change your game if you are use to playing shorter course., The course was in great shape, pace was excellent, played in 3 hr. and 45 minutes. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. Will play again when I am back in AZ.
wayne
The best course I haver ever played. An absolutely beautiful course. Will play again!
In defense of the greens
Some of the more difficult greens you will play. The course is not long. The fairways are wide there are a few hazards. But the greens require some planning. Like don't get short sided. the pins were, frankly a little unfair, given the slope of some greens. A couple were only about 4 feet from the fringe. Still, it was fun to navigate them, and I would play it again.
WigWam Golf
Great course. Unfortunately we experienced slow pace of play with a very slow foursome in front if us and no marshalls managing the play. The sand bunkers were awful, more like dirt and made for difficult and inconsistent to play out of.
Nice course, but the bunkers need a lot of work!!
Fairways nice, greens subtle and tough to read, both the fairway and green side bunkers suck! No sand, and hard as cement.
Good and a challenge
Wigwam has a course that fits everyone. We [played the Gold course which is challenging for the bogie to 2x bogie golfer. The holes are long and target golf is the point. The second cut adds a difficulty which means clubbing up one club. New name might be confusing - gold is still gold; red is now heritage (for the average player); and blue is now patriot (for the double digit handicap) . Enjoy your round
gps
gps worked for one hole......battery dead. nice course
Great Day on the Links
Heritage Course (Red). Staff was excellent, one member was late worked and got us out in 15 minutes. Great to have a starter to spread out the groups, did not have to wait at all. Cart girl was great must have seen her at least four times. Course in in great shape from tee to green. Will play again.
