Golfer Reviews
Apprehension to Delight
Arrived and greeted by friendly Staff. As a single the Pro Shop staff even got me out 35 minutes earlier. Was paired up withe a 2some which helped tremendously as they had played the course before and I had not. The course was in excellent condition but will say the greens were fast as lightning and alot of undulation. I experienced a relaxed and very enjoyable round with no sense of a country club attitude from anyone as other review posted. Even seen a rattlesnake pointed out by one of the golfers. Definately recomend this course but fairways are a primium and somewhat narrow. Only con was didn't see a beverage cart on the course and this was a Sunday 12:10 tee-time???
Luxury at a good price
Very fortunate to play a round at only $35. The Highlands is a first class experience from start to finish. Staff very friendly and helpful. Driving range included with pyramid of balls. Course conditions were excellent with full grass on fairways and around greens. Greens were in very good shape but putted far slower than they looked but rolled true. Some great mountain views and overall a very aesthetic high end course.
Not A Member
We all know when the golf high season is on, it becomes almost imposable to get a decent tee time at most good golf courses. I believe this is the reason Golfnow started, unfortunately what GN did not anticipate was the Private club members mentality by both staff and members. If your not a member be prepared to be treated not as a "member" if you get my drift. Great track great clubhouse! The club does not show the icon for shotgun starts, so be prepared ,it rely does not present a problem.
Hit the ball straight
Overall, an enjoyable round. Played with a very nice couple from Phoenix and had fun and laughs on the course. The four hr round was a good pace of play, except for the dismissive (almost rude) nature of the club membership - it was a great day.
Nice Course
The course was just out of overseed and it was in great condition given that fact. Pace of play was slowed down due to being cart path only. Rough was spongy and difficult in places to play from but overall the course condition was great.
Nice course but not much fun
Course meanders through the tract homes many blind shots. They don't tell you until you get there that it is cart path only. On a Saturday? Could not understand why this was had I know I would have brought my push cart. Extremely slow play and the Marshalls were all over making sure u were on the cart path.
Course condition was very good, pace of play very very slow. Views not as nice as described in other reviews. We played AZ National the day before much much better experience.
always a pleasure
a fun course to play...don't let the wide fairways deceive you, there are plenty of hidden challenges that make for an interesting day! Pro shop very nice.
just hit it straight and you will not be in trouble.
The course is in great condition and is fun to play plus challenging. I would definiiately come back. Wish I lived there. Did not have time to have a late lunch. Hopefully we will next time.
Highlands
The driving range was closed for reseeding and the course will close shortly too. Other practice facilities were open and in good shape. The course was very nice...fairways were lush and tight and the rough was dense for a southern Arizona course. The greens were also lush and very receptive. This is a difficult course to get on it the winter, but accessible during the summer and a good challenge.
Friedly and Fun
Wonderful condition and views. Played in 4 hours. Some of the holes on front 9 are very similar. Wide open fairways. Driver can be used on most par 4's and 5's. However, back 9 has lots of elevation changes and is very fun to play. Book early, they get lots of play.
Great course
Course in excellent shape, played in 3 plus hours.
Great time playing this course
First class facility. Enjoyed our round very much. Course was in good shape and fun to play.
A beautiful setting in very good condition
First time playing this course. It was in great condition. As it was another summer afternoon in Tucson the course was all but deserted. Don't let a little summer heat scare you off! It was great and my wife and I are teeing off again this afternoon!
It has many challenges for sure. Very scenic.
Very Challenging
Course was in great shape. Several holes had very unique design. Scenery was beautiful. Recommend this course to all levels of skill.
Great features
The grass was green!! The tee boxes are in great condition ! The course has the right amount of water.
aerated greens
It would have been nice if Golf Now site had noted that the greens had been recently aerated. I would have chosen a different course.
Great play! Will be back again
This is my second time playing the Highlands. Course was in good shape considering it was very hot. Greens were great to play on and rolled true to what you saw when reading the putt. Fairways were also in good shape and were green. Only complaint, if there was one, was that the one bunker I hit into was more dirt than sand. Overall, it was a good deal on Golfnow and I will definitely be back to play this course again. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Played 18 holes in about 4.5 hours.
The highlands at dove mountain
The course was in excellent shape. I really enjoyed playing golf at this track. The staff were among one if the friendliest. I would love to play this track again.
