Very Challenging
Course was in great shape. Several holes had very unique design. Scenery was beautiful. Recommend this course to all levels of skill.
Great features
The grass was green!! The tee boxes are in great condition ! The course has the right amount of water.
aerated greens
It would have been nice if Golf Now site had noted that the greens had been recently aerated. I would have chosen a different course.
Great play! Will be back again
This is my second time playing the Highlands. Course was in good shape considering it was very hot. Greens were great to play on and rolled true to what you saw when reading the putt. Fairways were also in good shape and were green. Only complaint, if there was one, was that the one bunker I hit into was more dirt than sand. Overall, it was a good deal on Golfnow and I will definitely be back to play this course again. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Played 18 holes in about 4.5 hours.
The highlands at dove mountain
The course was in excellent shape. I really enjoyed playing golf at this track. The staff were among one if the friendliest. I would love to play this track again.
challenging trac
Have always liked coarse, but when the wind is blowing 35 to 40 miles per hour it is tough to have a good time. We"ll go back though.
Views, drying out but worth the money
Played 18 holes and was windy later in the afternoon. This is a desert target course. Tight fairways and with wind, expect to lose some. Greens were ok and seems like there is a brown out now that the winter crowd has left town. Over all, worth the summer rates and experience. Difficult if not impossible to get on during the winter, so take advantage of summer rates. Plenty of course staff and all were helpful and friendly. Women golfers are given yardage and good opportunities for par. Bunkers were probably the best I've played all year.
beautiful golf course
The course and staff was absolutely great! Pace of play was great and the course was in top shape.
Not for the average golfer
The course and views were wonderful but the course was very challenging. So much so as a recreational golfer it took away from the experience. A good choice if you want a challenge, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who doesn't get to play on a weekly basis.
Windy
The day was windy, but the course was in good condition. Well worth the price paid. Many holes have nice views.
good course for all abilities
Course winds through housing development. Nice layout that has a combo of desert and parkland feel to it. Some forced carries off the tee, not so much from the forward tees however. Course was in good shape. Gets lots of play and greens have quite a few ball marks in them. Would go back for right price.
Interesting layouts on several holes
This was a decent value for a 12:30 tee time, however it didn't state that it was a shotgun start which it was. The starter sent me to hole 4, group A. Finally after waiting for the rest of the group until 10 minutes after the start time 4 players from the previous hole rolled up. It turns out I was a single and not part of a group. 3 holes later I caught up to a foursome and had to wait on every hole of the remaining 15 to finish the round.
Scenic, well maintained course.
Over seeding coming in nicely, good quality turf and greens. Beautiful views and interesting layout, especially the back nine. Course perhaps took a few too many groups for the shotgun start, had to wait on most every hole, but not for long.
match practice green with course greens
I see it all the time, you go to the practice green to get a feel for the course. OK its great nice and fast. Then you get to the first hole of the day and you leave 3 ft short .It takes a couple more holes to register then the next 3 you run 4 ft bye. I know it makes the area around the clubhouse look nice to have a nice practice area but come on man match practice!!! greens with the real greens.
In great shape following the over seed
Well maintained and a pleasure to play. Cart path only but still got around in a little over four hours. Lots of tee box choices so everyone in my foursome found the right distance for their game.
Course was in great shape and good value
The course was in great shape and we made the turn in less than 2 hours. The greens were in the best condition since I have been playing there however the plan is to reseed soon
Course was in great shape considering they are starting overseeding tomorrow
Course played very well. Greens were perfect. Fairways mostly green, tee boxes turning brown but still easily playable. Fairways were nicely distinguishable from the rough. Course is well maintained. Great design/layout makes you play your shots very accurately. I will definitely be back.
Always in good condition
In great shape for being this close to overseed. Staff was friendly. This course is always worth playing.
Nice Track
The Highlands is a beautiful well maintained course. Views of several near-by mountain ranges make it visually very attractive. The fairways and greens were in excellent condition. The course requires numerous forced carries from the tees to the fairways (we played the Javelina tees), but the fairways provide generous landing areas. So it is more visually intimidating than it actually plays. The ladies' tees avoid almost all of the forced carries. At 6550 yards, the course played nicely. A lot of the yardage is on the par 5s, with only one par 4 over 400 yards from this set of tees. you don't have to be a bomber to play there. There are numerous extremely long distances from one green to the subsequent tee, so walking this course is out of the question.
The only negative was pace of play. Our round was well over 4 1/2 hours. It is my understanding that the Highlands books over 50,000 rounds a year, so expect the course to be very crowded, and play to be very slow.
Course was in excellent condition. Great value.
Enjoyed a great golfing experience. The course was in excellent condition and well groomed and maintained.
