Course in great shape!
The greens were aeriated within the last week or two but were healing well. But even so they rolled well and will be in super shape in another week or so. The tee boxes are the best I have seen in Tucson.
Really like the course
Very nice. Usually can get on for under $25, but paid more on Fathers Day morning.
great course
very nice course fairways were nice greens were bumpy recently aeroated but beautiful views and fun course to play
Love this course
This is one of my favorite courses in Tucson. Excellent value and fun to play. Greens were just punched, so still a little bumpy.
good for average player
no ranger on duty, played behind a male threesome who were very
slow..
Decent Course
Layout is interesting but the condition of the fairways is awful. Very wet dormant grass....much like playing off of firm mud. The greens were nice but being aerofied the next day. Not worth more than $25.
Must be a putter!!
First time at the Highlands in Marana. Friday of Memorial Day weekend. Perfect day weather wise and only other group a three some in front of us on course!!! Course was drying out. If you can't hit the fairways here you need to choose another sport. Greens are huge! Near Mountains so had to watch break when putting, just remember were Tucson is. The par 5's fun to play. Boom straight away. Played back first, easier then front. Some distances between the holes. Holes either down or up hill, flat lies. Traps are tuff and full of coarse white sand. I'am senior golfer so played off Roadrunner tees. They have lot of members, snow birds. Be nice to play in fall and spring but, forgetaboutit. Staff were great!! Playing with a member would have been enjoyable. I had a 78, that's great for me. Overall a B+...............
Great Value!
Excellent practice facility and very nicely conditioned course. Greens really challenging. Fun round!
Nice Find
Playable desert course for an average golfer. Great tees and fairways. Challenging greens, rolling. Nice to not get beat up for once!
Great condition and great value
As always the greens are hard to read--but putt very true. The rest of the course was in great condition and we played at a nice pace
The course itself was in great shape.
The course was in great shape and for the most part, the staff was very cordial. However, we were approached by the course ranger who indicated that we were playing too slow. Said he received calls from some of the players. Not true. In fact, we were right on time with the management schedule when he approached us. In fact, we finished 10 minutes early. There is a lot more to the story than I can explain here. Long story short, there was a terrible injustice that happened to us.
Will play it again
The only issue was the pace of play. We were a foursome and the marshal wanted us to keep pace with the three some in front. We played the course in 4 hours and they recommended a pace of play at 4 1/4 hours. It is almost impossible for a foursome to keep pace with a threesome and still enjoy the round
A New Find
The Highlands is in excellent shape with greens that run quick in one direction and slow when putting toward Dove Mountain. We will be back soon.
Good shape
The course was in very good condition. Fairways were green, no brown patches. Greens were fast and true. Love the course.
Will Be Back!
Course in great shape, plays very well. Stay friendly. Only recommendation would be to get the golf cart girl around more than once per round.
The course is located in the Tortalita mts foothills nestled between a housing development but still offers some great views of the city and mountains
This is a desert course which can be challenging and frustrating when not in the fairway off your tee shot. The course was in transition from winter rye and the summer bermuda coming up but it was still in very good shape. The greens were excellent but are difficult to read, into the grain, down grain, breaks you cant see all play a part , previous play would definitely help. Would I play this course again, Yes I would.
Great Value
I haven't seen any tee times available for " The Highlands " on Golf Now for months, then finally see some available for $36. Was really worried something was wrong with the course at that price point, but rest assure the course is in great shape for this time of year.
Must Play Value
Not just for the value this time of year, but the amazing layout and excellent all around shape make this course a must play experience in the Tucson area.
The layout is a basic townhome lined course. A couple of awkward holes on the back, but not worth the effort compared to other courses in Tucson
Beware, outsiders need to know that there are 2 shot gun starts per day in the winter months--and there won't be advanced notice. Plus, in January there will be frost delays on most days, so both morning and afternoon times will be delayed.
There are no town houses in the development and the rest of the comments are far from accurate.
