Interesting layouts on several holes
This was a decent value for a 12:30 tee time, however it didn't state that it was a shotgun start which it was. The starter sent me to hole 4, group A. Finally after waiting for the rest of the group until 10 minutes after the start time 4 players from the previous hole rolled up. It turns out I was a single and not part of a group. 3 holes later I caught up to a foursome and had to wait on every hole of the remaining 15 to finish the round.
Scenic, well maintained course.
Over seeding coming in nicely, good quality turf and greens. Beautiful views and interesting layout, especially the back nine. Course perhaps took a few too many groups for the shotgun start, had to wait on most every hole, but not for long.
match practice green with course greens
I see it all the time, you go to the practice green to get a feel for the course. OK its great nice and fast. Then you get to the first hole of the day and you leave 3 ft short .It takes a couple more holes to register then the next 3 you run 4 ft bye. I know it makes the area around the clubhouse look nice to have a nice practice area but come on man match practice!!! greens with the real greens.
In great shape following the over seed
Well maintained and a pleasure to play. Cart path only but still got around in a little over four hours. Lots of tee box choices so everyone in my foursome found the right distance for their game.
Course was in great shape and good value
The course was in great shape and we made the turn in less than 2 hours. The greens were in the best condition since I have been playing there however the plan is to reseed soon
Course was in great shape considering they are starting overseeding tomorrow
Course played very well. Greens were perfect. Fairways mostly green, tee boxes turning brown but still easily playable. Fairways were nicely distinguishable from the rough. Course is well maintained. Great design/layout makes you play your shots very accurately. I will definitely be back.
Always in good condition
In great shape for being this close to overseed. Staff was friendly. This course is always worth playing.
Nice Track
The Highlands is a beautiful well maintained course. Views of several near-by mountain ranges make it visually very attractive. The fairways and greens were in excellent condition. The course requires numerous forced carries from the tees to the fairways (we played the Javelina tees), but the fairways provide generous landing areas. So it is more visually intimidating than it actually plays. The ladies' tees avoid almost all of the forced carries. At 6550 yards, the course played nicely. A lot of the yardage is on the par 5s, with only one par 4 over 400 yards from this set of tees. you don't have to be a bomber to play there. There are numerous extremely long distances from one green to the subsequent tee, so walking this course is out of the question.
The only negative was pace of play. Our round was well over 4 1/2 hours. It is my understanding that the Highlands books over 50,000 rounds a year, so expect the course to be very crowded, and play to be very slow.
Course was in excellent condition. Great value.
Enjoyed a great golfing experience. The course was in excellent condition and well groomed and maintained.
Great course. Challenging, but not overly so.
Course in beautiful condition. Nice course, especially for a retirement community.
Fun to play
Very well maintained and has one hole that you need to know where to land to make it to the green. Always a friendly staff, just wish I could play here more often.
Gourse has a nice layout!
Course was in excellant condition!
Would play it again.
Widest fairways in the west!
This golf course is in very good shape for this time of year. The fairways are the most generous I have ever played which takes away from a will designed golf course with plenty of eye candy.
Interesting layout
Front nine + fairly easy. Back holes on mountain more interesting.
Loved the course keep the prise down so I can play there more often
It was in great shape loved it will tell my friends about this course
Course has some challenging holes
Course was in great shape. Will try to play there again soon.
Very nice course and pro shop personnel excellent.
Course was in excellent condition; pro shop personnel very friendly. Great value.
Overall, a pretty decent layout with good summer conditions.
With a 1:04 tee time and only two groups of 3 in front of us, it took over 41/2 hrs. to complete the round on a very warm June afternoon. Despite the nice views, it is difficult to enjoy a round of golf when you have to wait on every shot and of course there was no ranger on the course. As much as we liked the course, we will probably not return.6/22/2013
Always a good round @ the Highlands
Course remains well maintained, very few "burned" out spots as the summer months take their toll on all of our Tucson courses. I like the wider landing areas this course allows for off the tees. Pace of play tends to be pretty good, even on the weekends Summer discounts make it well worth the while.
