Now you can play in Peoria. Book a round at Trilogy Golf Club at Vistancia, which Golf Digest magazine gave five stars out of five, an honor only a couple dozen North American golf courses share - no other in Arizona. Courses with the distinction include Bethpage Black, Pebble Beach, Bandon Dunes, TPC Sawgrass and Spyglass Hill. Five stars mean, according to the magazine, "Superb. Golf at its absolute best. Pay any price to play at least once in your life."

Gary Panks designed Trilogy Golf Club at Vistancia to enhance the existing environment, and to make the course dramatic and playable. It's a round that should be on the list for a golf trip to Arizona. The par-72 course measures 7,291 yards from the Tournament tees.

After a round at Trilogy Golf Club at Vistancia head to the Verde Grill for foods both familiar and inventive.

No Links

Played the course the first month it opened in 2004. It was a beautiful Links style course then but not anymore: they killed all the wild grass that gave the course so much character. The back nine had a much better eye layout and character making it fun to play.

Hey @mmathis5742

Like many courses in the Valley, we're working our way through the spring/summer transition period which is why you're seeing some browning areas on the course - we would be happy to chat with you some more about this if you'd like? But briefly, it's a tricky science and we're confident that our bermuda grass will soon create a nice green coverage. In the mean time, although we're admittedly not bright green, the roll of the greens is pretty solid - we're hoping you sunk a few long ones on your visit! Kate

Worst course in AZ

Preen waiting to play this course for awhile. I had a friend to come town and wanted to trip him, I have to say I was completely embarrassed . From

The start the staff at check showed hey could care less, no one to help with carts and once on the course their were 5 broken down golf carts on the course not to include the beverage cart that was abandoned in the middle of the fairway. It was May in AZ and although the weather was hot the course should have been in better condition. All the fairways were completely brown and dry and cracked. We ever saw a beverage cart attendant and it was easier to chip off the cart path than the fairway. In fact I was putting at 80 yards out because the fairway was so dry. Once finished I went to check in with what pro shop but was informed they closed at 5 pm.Once I was finished i spoke to the cart attendant and he just laughed because he said he knows the course is in horrible shape but won't water it. I have golfed at some suspect places but this was by far the worst place I have ever been.I wouldn't ever golf there again even if they payed me. On one final note I have never written a review but this was so bad I thought I would let people know not to waste their money.

Hi JeffLewis3 - we're sorry we didn't meet your expectations. We hope you'll consider us again some time in the future. Right now, like many courses in the Valley, we're working our way through the spring/summer transition period which is why you're seeing some browning areas on the course. It also seems as though you visited us on a day when our beverage car blew a tire! These things happen, not something we can predict, but we had it towed back to maintenance asap. Kate

Course in rough shape (right now)

I played this course last summer and it was in great shape so I expected more of the same. The fairways were in horrible shape. There were a ton of hot spots and dead patches. Hitting out of the first cut was almost better at times because there was actually some grass to hit off of. Bunkers and greens were in fair shape. Greens still rolled true although they didn't look great. Hoping this was just a transition period for them because I love this course. Cart girl and clubhouse staff were great. Pace of play was awesome.

Hi @macgolfer79413

Thanks so much for coming out to play. We appreciate you taking the time to write your review.

You mentioned that you came across a few "brown" areas - you're absolutely right - and here's why.

Spring transition is the period where an over seeded desert golf course transitions from winter grass (Ryegrass) to summer grass (Bermuda grass). Our property chooses to fully over seed nearly all turf areas to enjoy beautiful rewards during the cooler months while Ryegrass can thrive in the Arizona desert. With this decision comes other subsequent, related decisions and practices which must take place during the warmer months. This is a time of year where a desert golf course will not be colorful green at all times. It is our intent to continue to focus on excellent playing conditions while minimizing the aesthetic decline and the time frame of which it occurs.

We hope that helps to explain the coloration on course, and sincerely hope you'll be able to come out and play again soon! Kate

Wonderful Round

We almost had the course to play alone mid-day. Recent hot weather has browned off the rye grass in the fairways but tee boxes and greens are still in great shape.

Challenging Course

The front nine was difficult. It was our first time playing and had a hard time figuring out where the greens were. The course really needs to be watered, it was very dry and bare in spots. The greens were really fast. We enjoyed our round and the cost was well worth it.

Another GEM in the Valley !

Vehicular setback caused Me to not be punctual, Ty (GN)spoke to Micheal at course and assured US that I could get worked in.

WOW is how I have to begin this review, virtually "postcard-like."Outstanding(!) practice/warm up facility set-up greets players & the conditions are top shelf !

The Valley had some light rain overnight yet the course was VERY playable, even the firm bunkering sand "thumped" great. Greens are receptive to well struck shots and putt very-very well !

Super(!)GN rate allowed Me experience this course & I can't wait to return ! ! THANKS !

Poor Customer Service and Planning

First time on the course, they run sprinklers right on the the T's with no way to get around getting sprayed and soaking our gear. You'd think for the price of the course, they could plan that better. Last 2 holes, golf cart dies and we had to push it and when we informed Trilogy of it the guys just laughed and when we told them about he sprinklers they just shrugged. I will avoid going to this course even though I live right there.

Kate, that would be great to discuss with the GM. Can you provide the contact info?

Hi @stellalcolin - it sounds like our sprinklers mistimed. We don't typically run them during hours of play - so I would think this was an unfortunate system error. We'll ensure the course superintendent is aware of this mistake.

Our team will always prioritize reaching guests with a dead golf cart on course. Pushing the cart is certainly not part of the experience. Would you like to reach out to our General Manager? Your experience is atypical and we'd like the chance to learn more and make it right! - Kate

Excellent location for staying on the outskirts NW of Phoenix. Quite a few bunkers throughout the course. Bunkers in the fairways provided risk/reward challenges, and also well protected the elevated greens. Harder for ladies because of the challenging approach shots and thick rough on miss hits. Good experience, probably wouldn't play with my wife there again.

Good Experience

Played this course for the first time yesterday. Pace was sub 4 hours and enjoyable. Course was comparatively forgiving to the errant driver which helped my score. Tee boxes in excellent shape as were the fairways. Some of the greens a touch rough. Sand traps were hard and though they came into play were not punitive. All in all a fine round. No hesitation playing again.

I could live at Vistancia!

This is one of the most beautifully designed and well maintained golf courses that I've ever played and the setting was beautiful. Great neighborhood course that often doesn't fell like it. Fantastic layout and fantastic service. When in Phoenix, you need to play this course!

Terrific golf experience

Even with the long drive from the Scottsdale area the golf experience was well worth it. From the time you step out of your car to the drinks and dinner after the round the service you receive is first class. The course itself is in terrific shape and the greens while large are a reach challenge and demand you A game. Very good bang for the buck!
