Raven Golf Club - Phoenix

Greens were punched a few weeks ago but rolled pretty true, fairways and tee boxes were in great shape, staff was fantastic, food was great afterwards!

Looks like a typical municipal course when driving in but once you get into the course, it’s very nice. Pine tree lined fairways made a nice set up. Fairways were like carpet and we were getting 20+ yard run outs of drives. Only negative I had about the course was the punched green. It was like putting over rocks but the fairways made up for it.

Course was in excellent condition except for the greens. They had just been aerated the previous week and they were very bumpy and slow. Even the course ranger quipped "get used to 3 putting". We played in a light rain for the first 9 holes which is an extreme rarity in Phoenix, but the cloud cover helped to keep the heat down

First time playing this course. All greens were top dressed with sand and they are watering pretty heavily. So the good is, the ball sticks the greens. The bad is, drive roll out is compromised…...that is, what it is, this time of year. Course has plenty of pine trees, a few water holes and very few desert areas. That’s unusual for this part of the country and kind of refreshing. Overall nice layout with very little elevation change and really no surprises….what you see is what you get. There’s plenty of water coolers on the course and I saw the cart girl 4 times.

They just sanded the greens other than that standing on the Teebox is very visual beautiful forgiving fairways impeccable condition great driving range and practice facility most definitely going to make this my regular spot.

For 3 years I've been wanting to play The Raven and somehow never did. I regret that I missed out on 3 years of this place because it's amazing. Of the 100 or so golf courses I've played inside Phoenix this is my #1 now, conditions were phenomenal and they hadn't even punched yet. I will definitely be coming back consistently.

Unfortunately due to green aeration we had to play twice on the back nine. We still enjoyed the round immensely and will be back to play the full course.

Was excited to play here again but the bag drop person ended all positives early. Only employee that had any understanding of service was inside the pro shop. Bag drop person just pointed and grunted. Our group had to walk back to bag drop area to get, find and load our own bags. Our cart had a broken ice chest and they refused to replace it so we had to use a warmup band to hold it in place. We asked for fill bottles to replace divots, once again, points and grunts as they returned to the cool of the clubhouse so we had to find sand and fill them ourselves. Starter assembled our group then drove to first tee alone, only to yell “I’m over here” We get to the first tee and starter is flipping through pages. We tee off after waiting for suggested tees which never came. As we drove off he only grunts and tells us to avoid any bumps so our cooler doesn’t finish breaking off. Saw a beverage cart on number 2 and number 17. If the course was not in such nice AZ summer shape, there would be nothing to report positive. Probably won’t be back since we were obviously an inconvenience. Even the bar couldn’t tell us what beer they were serving since they “change out so many varieties and it’s hard to know since they don’t tell them either”

The course was in great condition and I love playing here. I’d play here everyday if I could. But if you are think of playing this course, DONT. I don’t want to share with you.

What an awesome day of golf! The weirdest part about this round of golf was that it actually rained pretty much the whole time I was there. A very rare event this time of year indeed. The course played really well in spite of the wet conditions. The greens were receptive and smooth and the Tee‘s and fairways were awesome as well. Even if I was off-line there was plenty of grass on the left and right to give me a shot to the green.I will be back again soon!
