Great value for money
The course was an excellent condition and is a very good layout. Relative to other courses in the area it was a good deal. Turkey wrap I had after 9 holes was terrible and service team were pretty friendly but not the best.
Beautiful course but awful bunkers.
Course was really beautiful, was cart path only which wasn’t necessary. We had the cart keys only when we begin the game like we were babies. The bunkers were really awful, surprising for such a beautiful course.
Challenging but fair.
Very well maintained course, challenging but fair. I would definitely play again. Employees are all nice and professional. Ranger Doug C. was especially helpful and interesting to talk to, we really appreciated his help.
Nice golf experience even with overseeding
There are of course hundreds of choices in the Phoenix area. The Raven is a long established course with a fair layout and relatively easy. If you want a course that is ultra challenging and has lots of intricate features this is not for you. However, if you want a nice conditions and playing from the fairway and giving you a chance at par, this is a good choice. Keep in mind every course in the area overseeds in late August and it is car path only until the new grass matures enough. That slows the pace of play considerably. Plus the greens will be a little slow and choppy until everything fills in late in November.
Overall The Raven is a good course, not in the upper tier but also not in the upper price range.
Great Staff!
The staff at The Raven was excellent. GolfNow failed to contact them or secure our tee time once it was booked so we arrived at the course and were told that we didn't have a tee time. The staff then called GolfNow and gave them our confirmation number and asked why they had failed to secure our tee time once it was confirmed. GolfNow said it was a failure on their part and asked if they had any other times for us. This was a very busy Sunday morning and the tee sheet was full. The staff went out of their way to fit us into their tee sheet and we actually got out a little earlier than our original time. They very easily could of sent us away with an apology much like GolfNow did but they didn't. Great staff and customer service. The course was in great shape and it was a great morning round of golf. Thanks guys.
Nice layout but rough conditions
Played two days after torrential rain from Rosa, but water damage aside, the course was not in great shape. Tee boxes almost completely browned. Greens were very slow. Layout is good, not great. It’s not really a “forest” track per se, sort of forced.
conditions
Sand traps were not very good. otherwise the course was great
Best Value in Phx
Called at 12 noon Sunday Sept 2 and said course was wide open. We got off at 3:07pm for $27. I have lived in the Scottsdale area for 20 years. I will say the condition of this course was beyond phenomenal and the greens rolled better than any course I have played at this time of year. If you live in Phoenix and haven't played Raven, you have missed a great value during the late summer months.
Course was in good shape for the Summer months in Phoenix.
This course is usually in great shape. The course was a little wet when we played it, taking some distance away from your drives. This is a fun and challenging course. I try to play here a few times each Summer.
It’s a super course with great value during the summer months. The course is in great shape for this time of year and the staff is always very friendly. The pace of play was a little bit slow on the backside but that also had to do with three twosomes playing behind two or three foursomes.
Way too slow
We totally understand when the weather is nice a 4.5-5 hour round on a Saturday can be expected. Today it was over 110 and the course moved so slow. No Marshall's were seen all day to keep the pace of play moving. The front nine took a little over 2 hours, but the back was super slow. Waits of 15-20 minutes on almost all shots. Sometimes more. We played 8 holes on the back in about 2hrs and 30 minutes. Gave up after 17. Terrible pace of play for this time of year. Not sure we will return. Course was in decent shape for this time of year and the staff was great. Cart girl even mentioned that someone should be moving the slow groups along.
Raven Soars Over Competition
My first visit to this course...certainly not my last. The layout is fun, fair and challenging. Do not pass on playing this course. The conditions were far superior to other courses is the valley. This has been a difficult year for summer transition and the Raven greenskeepers have figured out a solution.
Great course
Course had a much different feel to it then other valley courses. Conditions were good despite the aerated greens. Definitely recommend!
Greens had just been punched
I thought that may have been the case with the $25 Saturday morning starting time. Sure enough, punched on Wednesday. Still a great experience with my son though.
