Raven Golf Club - Phoenix

Course was a bit wet and the greens were in rough shape.

Raven is always a solid choice in the Phoenix area where competition is fierce.

A special shout out to Ben. A staff member who joined me after his regular shift sporting a shovel in tow and digging out many drains overgrown with turf as we played. Raven is obviously making the effort necessary to compete in this market. ( side note) The kid is a heck of a putter!

Very unusual desert course. Lots of rolling terrain with many tress. Unfortunately the pine trees are diseased and dying. But a great layout. Only problem is that because of heavy play certain popular fairway locations are littered with unrepaired divots. And similarly some of the greens were moonscapes with unrepaired ball marks.

We come here every year 1-2 times and this is our no doubt stop. We don’t come to Phoenix if we can’t play the Raven. The course is ALWAYS in top condition. Here and Wekopa are the only places I’ve been that never have a blade of grass out of place. They also had a Marshall out keeping tabs on pace of play. Oh.. and I got my second Ace on #2 :)

Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. The course was immaculate and very well manicured. The greens were in great shape.

We were visiting for a golf trip and expected more of variety of hole layout. The course was in beautiful condition. And the pace of play was over 5 hours so we were not able to play all 18 and I was surprised there was no Marshall helping to speed up the pace.

Waited on every hole on the back nine. Tee time was 11:00 and was held at the start for 10 minutes. Then everything started backing up on the end of front nine. Ask ranger and staff after round if 5 hours was normal. Both said this close to holiday and with slow players before us yes does happen. Wish they cared about slow play.

I play very infrequently with my adult son and son-in-law and we had a highly enjoyable experience at Raven. We would all recommend the course with no hesitation and look forward to returning. The course is in phenomenal shape and the layout is very appealling. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
