Par 60
Came into town to visit. Needed to find 18 last minute and we found this course. Didn't know it was a short course, but had a good round nonetheless. Really helps you focus on the short game, I only used my driver two or three times I think. If they had a clubhouse and some food/drinks, this place would be 5 stars.
It was okay
No clubhouse but that’s not a big deal. Easy drive and not far off the freeway although apparently driving the speed limit in a neighborhood was against the religion of the Range Rover behind me.
Checked in and it was weird that the app only charged a fee with greens due at checking in but again, not a big deal. The young lady checking is in was nice. Older gentleman in the trailer with her not so much. We picked up our cart and drove to our vehicle. He then made a point to let us know that cats aren’t allowed in the parking lot. No visible signs but he said there was. I said okay, we won’t do it again and when done but felt it necessary to keep saying it. So I went to look for said signs and low and behold, there’s a sign…that faces the parking lot and is BEHIND all the carts.
Meaning:
- as you walk up the cats, your back is to the sign.
- as you drive away along the path, your back is to the sign
- to enter the lot, from the cart storage, you have to go around their trailer, and where you come out, you can’t see the sign.
To be fair, the one time you can see the sign is when you are coming off 18 and returning the cart.
Well…other than an embarrassing tee shot on 1, with another person waiting, it was a fun round. It was off that they didn’t tell us we had another person joining with us, which is always fun. As we were leaving the first tee the gentleman that drove up didn’t say anything about jumping in with us, so we figured he didn’t want to roll with us so we left the first tee and headed on. Never saw him for the rest of the round as pace was solid on the course.
Super humid day and there were some bare spots on the greens but overall a well cared for course. We’ll come back but maybe in the afternoon/evening when the older guy may be gone.
Mediocre
Mediocre is an overstatement to be quite honest. My experience with this course was the worst I’ve had of Arizona however, I am from Michigan and that’s saying something, but this course was by far the worst I’ve ever played. I would definitely try it once, but I guarantee you’ll never play there again unless it’s for a financial reason. To be fair, the layout of this course was the best feature. Very friendly competitors and if it’s your first time golfing or you’re a beginner, this is definitely a good place for you to start. But for me, the biggest downfall is the course conditions.
The Lakes
This is a golf course in my neighborhood that has had a very difficult past. I play there because of how hard the neighborhood residents worked to get this closed golf course reopened under new management. They are still early in the restoration process and the ponds are dry but the tee boxes and greens are in good shape as well as the fairway. If you hit the ball straight, it will land on the grass and you can hit from the grass but the rough is dirt in many places. That said they are trying hard and it should be restored to its original condition within the next two years.
Nope
Had 5:27 am tee time. Gate closed until the guy showed up at 5:30am.
Course is a s———hole
Cheap price for a cheap course
Fairways and greens are in rough shape. No restrooms except a few portopoties. Water/ponds on the course need to be cleaned they are very green and don’t look as if they are circulating at all. It was my understand this used to be a highly rated golf course but playing it I don’t see that at all
Fun, but could be better
The layout of the course is fun, but the amenities are lacking and the range balls are terrible.
Every time I play there, I really do want to support the course as it's local and I can play the round pretty quickly. It helps with short game and great for family golf.
But you can't get past how dried out the course is, the lakes are all dried out or some have a ton of green stuff growing. The grounds crew is always weed whacking something, but really what? There really isn't any grass. They need to really till the turf and lay down more seed or sod in so many places, as it's just dirt.
The lay out is fun, as you can hit so many different irons and wedges and some par-4s where you can hit driver or fairway wood if you wanted.
Please get a team that can really fix this up better.
Good course fora comeback round
I have not golfed for 18 months due to some health issues. This course helped me ease back into the 'swing' of things. Pretty much a straightforward course.
