Palm at McCormick Ranch Golf Club
About
McCormick Ranch Golf Club features two lush manicured year-round courses amid the lovely views of Scottsdale. Both the Palm and Pine golf courses' championship tees lay to over 7,000 yards, and there are also the options of men's, seniors' and ladies' tee sets to allow everyone a crack at the tests offered by these golf courses.
Golf Illustrated selected the ninth hole of the Palm Course at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club to be "One of the USA's Top 18 Water Holes." It's just one of 10 water holes on the golf course, which, as you might imagine, also features lots of big palms. In all, the golf course plays to over yards from the blue tees, including four par-5 holes that measure over 500 yards.
A round of golf on the Palm Course at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club kicks off on the par-4 first hole, which plays close to 400 yards from the blue tee and requires a drive right-center to ensure a short-iron second shot.

Palm Course - McCormick Ranch Photo submitted by tainge on 03/29/2013
Palm
Nice layout. 4:40 minute round…too long.
Many bunkers on back nine did not have rakes.
Golf in Arizona
Waited on every shot on the front nine. Back was a little better but not great
Very crowded but in pretty good condition
There are 36 holes here and the courses are similar. The Palms Course is a bit more difficult, due to very steep and fast greens. The layout has a mixture of blah holes and interesting ones, due to water hazards. From the blue tees the length is challenging. It was a 4.5 hour round on a weekend, waiting for every shot. GPS on the carts helps. This is really not a $120 course but that's the rate for average public courses in the winter season in Scottsdale.
Ratso
They let 6 people play off the first tee.
Greens were full of unrepaired ball marks. Fairways were littered with goose droppings.
I would not play this again and advise other not to play.
Still needs work
McCormick is close to my home, but I don’t play it often due to the course condition. Last Saturday was no exception. The mats at the practice range are not my favorite method of warm up, I understand the cost of keeping grass in good shape can be costly, but the artificial turf needs replacing. The Starter should give a suggestion of how to fix ball marks on greens and how to rake a green to make the course less annoying.
The current fairway conditions were better than the last time I said “ never again” regarding play at McCormick, but the rough ( or lack of rough) needs help. McCormick has all the potential with it’s great location and nice layouts on both courses, but still lacks the attention to detail to make it worth playing.
Quick greens good condition
absence of marshall was a drag we ended up skipping the ninth hole
Someone Buy This Dump & Fix It
Range was a joke. Counted 11 bunkers without rakes and the ones that had them had the cheap, 1970’s models. Greens and fairways were in good shape but with all the rain, every place iis in good shape. Place has a feel of a municipal course and that’s not being fair to the municipal course. $170 to play here is a joke.
First and Last time for me!
Course -> A+++
Front Desk -> A+++
Cart Guy with Bad Birdie pullover (younger guy) ->A+++
Cart Girls -> A+++
Everything was great until coming off of the 18th on my second round of the day. My friend and I took our bags to the car via a trail that looks like it’s supposed to head into the parking lot from the course when we were accosted and called “cheap” by some old fat, bald man with sticks for legs and glasses that is part of the cart crew. We got told that “just because we are cheap and don’t want our clubs cleaned doesn’t mean we can drive the carts wherever we want. Also that the carts aren’t old town carts and need to be driven properly when in fact it’s actually the exact same cart. Brand and everything. I have family that have sold these things for almost 20 years now in the valley for both “old town carts” and course carts LMFAO!! We both tried to explain that it looks like a path into the parking lot and that it was an honest mistake but got treated in a condescending fashion. I hope if I get this old and frustrated with life that my family puts me down so I don’t ruin great experiences for people. First time playing BOTH courses and will never in my life be back. If you want to go to a nice course and be insulted by some old jerk this is the place!
