Palm at McCormick Ranch Golf Club
About
McCormick Ranch Golf Club features two lush manicured year-round courses amid the lovely views of Scottsdale. Both the Palm and Pine golf courses' championship tees lay to over 7,000 yards, and there are also the options of men's, seniors' and ladies' tee sets to allow everyone a crack at the tests offered by these golf courses.
Golf Illustrated selected the ninth hole of the Palm Course at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club to be "One of the USA's Top 18 Water Holes." It's just one of 10 water holes on the golf course, which, as you might imagine, also features lots of big palms. In all, the golf course plays to over yards from the blue tees, including four par-5 holes that measure over 500 yards.
A round of golf on the Palm Course at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club kicks off on the par-4 first hole, which plays close to 400 yards from the blue tee and requires a drive right-center to ensure a short-iron second shot.

Palm Course - McCormick Ranch Photo submitted by tainge on 03/29/2013
Poor Conditions
Sand Traps are in horrible shape, most have no sand and the rest is dried dirt. Overall the fairways are in poor condition.
Fairways were not in good shape
The Fairways were not in good shape. It seemed there were a lot of areas which had been over watered, and there were puddles and muddy areas on most of the fairways. I understand that the first nine holes of the line and palm courses had been renovated. The back nine of both the courses, which we played, need work also.
Worth the price
Played back 9 of each course Hole 15 on the back pines is amazing Course had some ground under repair but for 80.00 good Scottsdale course
Not in prime condition
For the last few months play has been broken up between the two course. This time it was listed as 18 for each course, so we thought we could finally play 18 on the Palm course. Arrived and was told we would be playing the two back nines. Pine has not been in good shape over the past few months, so was a bit upset having to play this again. Bunkers are the worst, so don’t hit in them. Several had standing water, hard and inconsistent. Lots of patches with sod and tire tracks from equipment. We may try to play this again in 6 months to see if they have addressed the issues, but for now there are better courses for the money.
badshape
this course was in really bad shape for the price and the location i had expected more for McCormick ranch
Issues
Fairways in nice shape. Greens OK. Scattered bate spots. Bunkers—- inconsistent. Some a real need of sand. Cart paths look like they have been carpet bombed. I’d say worth about 50 bucks considering time of year. Could be much better.
Perfect except for too much watering day of play which resulted in mud on many shots.
so brown
not worth the money right now. looks like someone drove their truck through the course. only got to play the back 9 of both courses so missed out on the nice side of the property. very dry, paid too much
Course in Terrible Shape
It was my first time playing this course - I could see how, in the right shape this would be a really fun track. The open landscape and palms are beautiful, and the course layout is great. Because of the recent wet weather, or course renovations (or both), the course was a sloppy mess. Soggy everywhere, flooded and unplayable bunkers, cart paths riddled with potholes. I played on Thanksgiving, so will give the benefit of the doubt for slow pace, but will not be playing this course again over the winter due to the conditions - maybe would for $50-$60, but not for $100+. I've seen others suggest waiting until renovations are finished and I would have to agree with that.
Great course
Really good course but was told it was cart path only when we got there. Was a little disappointed but we still played at a good pace. I will absolutely go back.
Bad conditions run down
Terrible shape and on course amenities are really run down. Price of golf is 3x higher than it should be for course conditions
Wait until they finish course renovations
Palm course front nine was in decent shape , back nine pine course was in terrible shape
Robbery
Guys in the clubhouse always seem miserable, so nothing new there. Bag guys are always on their game. The course was sopping wet, but that’s not really a big deal. Gotta question playing the backside of the Pine course for our back 9. It was wet and the oversees grass was LONG, even in the fairways. The rough was 8” tall in spots. I understand that courses need revenue, but at some point we have to be transparent with the public. I’ve played here a lot, but won’t be going back. Ever.
Enjoyed what I could
Had to play two different courses since they had the front 9 of Pine and back 9 of Palm closed. Good time though. Pace was awesome until they threw a group of 10 yr old kids ahead of us on the front 9 of Palm. We just passed them and skipped hole 1. Our cart also died but the staff was quick to bring a backup. The two 9s were in great shape and it's been a while since I played Palm. The snack bar amenities were closed and no cart person on the course. Bummer and the reason for the low review.
Not what I expected
It’s summer in az and we can expect some rough conditions. There is a lot of work going in at the course, so it should be better in the fall. My complaint is that the tee time was sold as the palm course but it was back 9 of palm and back 9 of pine. I should have been alerted before I booked. There is a lot of water in the sand traps. It’s sort of ok for the price but I probably wouldn’t have booked if i knew the front 9 was closed.
Course design
I liked the course design. Rather challenging holes with water on the side.
