Mountain Shadows Golf Course
About
The executive golf course at Mountain Shadows Golf Club in addition to being an excellent course has the added benefit of having a picturesque location nestled in the foothills of Camelback Mountain, and it also offers views of the equally majestic Mummy Mountains. The oleanders and palm trees sprinkled throughout the course enhance the pleasant atmosphere. The golf course's 18th hole boasts beautiful views of the sunset during the twilight hours but the signature hole is the par-3 12th hole. It plays uphill toward Camelback Mountain and over a pond and brook to a double-tiered green that is well protected by bunkers.

Great course, beautiful setting
I love this executive course. It sits at the bottom of Camelback Mountain, so it has incredible views. It's really well maintained (and I really hope they're successful in renovating the hotel to make this a hip mid-century modern golf resort), and the staff are friendly. The course is easy, but narrow, so it's quite challenging if you have a tendency to hook or slice the ball. You can easily play 18 holes in 3-3.5 hours. Highly recommend for a quick and enjoyable game.
Love the length of the course.
After having a horrible accident on the course last November,
my friend and I loved being able to play the entire course.
We feel that it is the perfect length for our game at this time and
the course, staff, views have been such a joy to experience.
Nice Fairways, Quick Greens, Awesome Views
This course is in great shape and the greens ran pretty true and quick. Fairways are nice but the rough is deadly......This course is not limited on the views!
Well maintained, fun little Exec course
Staff was very friendly when arrived; helpful and accommodating. Course is in very good shape, beautiful views of Camelback Mtn, and well maintained. Course is in the foothills behind the former Host Marriott hotel just off of Lincoln Drive in Paradise Valley, which creates many uphill and downhill shots. There were two par 4's among a long string of par 3's, some as short as 70 yards. Some of the T-box par 3 yardages, especially the short ones, seem to be shorter than listed, so be careful. Have fun and relax.
Great golf day
My wife and I played 18 holes, a unique experience for my wife who is a very casual golfer. Play was a little slow at times but we thoroughly enjoyed the golf experience.
Terrific scenery
Two ladies on cart 102. Metal rack for cooler was broken
I bumped into it several times because it stuck out. I have a bruise on my hand about 3 inches in diameter. I iced it from hole 9
I also have one on my side thigh that is large, after 24 hours swelling still there and very tender.
Not acceptable!
One of the best executive courses.
Great course for limbering up after a golf hiatus.
Nice 3 par challenge
My wife and I enjoyed this beautiful course at the base of Camelback Mountain in Scottsdale, AZ. I didn't need a driver due to the mainly par 3 course, but I certainly enjoyed the views and the challenges of the course. If I am in the area again I will definitely plan on this course again. A good warm up for longer course.
Course in very good condition.
The course is in excellent condition.
The course is consists on mainly par 3 holes and very similar in between them. You can play this course with only 4 clubs!
That being said it's a very good course if your looking to practice your short game.
Very nice pace of play...without shadows..Great vistas!
Would do this again soon in a heartbeat..Love 3 pars...!
Some houses are close, not much room for error!
Nice scenery. First course played in Az. Good experience. Did not have a logo ball
Slow play tee times overbooked
Course was just reseeded and is in great shape, no carts allowed on fairway (understandable) took 4hrs to play a executive course is to long
course just reopened after overseeding
course is in pristine condition but cart path only since overseeding was just completed. lots of walk-ons so course was more crowded than online booking sight indicated. staff was super friendly. will definitely return.
great fill in for an open spot during our vacation
The staff was extremely friendly and curtious. My wife played the forward tees and I played from the rear tees. This gave both of us a chance to work on long approach shots with long irons. We played as a two some and had to wait but the saving grace was that they have some shade on the course, which made it tolerable. We would play the course again when we return to the area.
Ready for overseed
Course was not very accommodating as the fairways had been scalped down. Greens were not consistent.
The best executive course in Phoenix
Great course for a quick round to challenge all aspects of your iron game and putting. Don't let the par 56 fool you. With mostly par 3's ranging from 90 to 200 yards with small well maintained greens guarded by strategically placed bunkers and/or water, this course will give you all you can handle. Sometimes a layup on a par 3 is the better part of valor.
Amazing course!!
I played 18 holes for $15. That should be enough said. I had low expectations when I set my tee-time and was happily wrong. This was one of the nicest, well maintained courses that I have ever played. It is a great little executive course. Not hard, but don't expect it to be a walk in the park. The staff was great, very friendly and helpful. It has easily become my new favorite course. Great place to relax, have a few beers and enjoy a great round of golf!
A fun course and a good challenge - forces one to be accurate!
I can no longer play 18 hole regulation courses due to sun restrictions. This course satisfies my desire to play 18 holes while also presenting a good challenge. It is narrow and one needs to be quite accurate. It is an excellent test of one's short game. With an early tee time, my husband and I are usually done in 2 1/2 hours.
Greens have come in great!
Just golfed this course again today, and the greens roll very very well now. And they are fast, and very curvy. Excellent challenge on the greens! Make sure you hit the practice green first....
This is a fun course, and from the tips, is a wicked challenge. The main problem I have with the layout is the hole length variation. If you play from the regular tees, its a LOT of 150 yd holes. If you play from the tips, its a LOT of 180 yd holes. I actually pre-plan play from different tees throughout a round to not get sick of a club all day....
The bunkers are clean, but packed. The fairways are mostly pure. The rough is THICK. Watch your balls closely, or you'll lose some. And like I said the greens are a treat. The par 3 17-hole is 240 yds, and just unforgettable.
I have rated this course difficult due to the extreme challenging greens. The tee locations make this course playable for all skill levels.
This is a great value.
The course is in great shape and the staff is as awesome as advertised. The course is nestled in the mountains so have a camera ready. Unfortunately, pace of play may have you enjoying the views a bit too much. This is a gem.
