Mountain Shadows Golf Course
About
The executive golf course at Mountain Shadows Golf Club in addition to being an excellent course has the added benefit of having a picturesque location nestled in the foothills of Camelback Mountain, and it also offers views of the equally majestic Mummy Mountains. The oleanders and palm trees sprinkled throughout the course enhance the pleasant atmosphere. The golf course's 18th hole boasts beautiful views of the sunset during the twilight hours but the signature hole is the par-3 12th hole. It plays uphill toward Camelback Mountain and over a pond and brook to a double-tiered green that is well protected by bunkers.

Good
Good course! Will play again! Hidden treasure! Check it out
Mountain Shadows course is great.
I recently played this Mountain Shadows with some friends. As a new golfer, I thought it was a wonderful course. It helps you learn to play at a faster pace while still enjoying the game and the beautiful surroundings. The staff is very helpful and friendly.
Best staff at any course
The staff went out of their way to make you feel welcome and appreciated. Best staff at any course I've every played. Good place to practice your short game. In general, the course is in very good condition. The greens are true, but a little slow. The fairways were green with almost no "burned out spots". There was lots of grass "clumping" on the fairways, so they need better lawn mowers or more frequent cutting. Very good value!
Excellent value for money!
Booked it for $12/person, friendly staff. Nice & laid back atmosphere. Love playing here, will be back soon.
Rude, put me in a foul mood the rest of the day.
The range staff was rude, my party of four was keeping pace with the party of four in front of us and a group of two behind us found them self's waiting. The range staff came to my group and became very rude. My group then picked up the pace and found our self's waiting for the group in front of us for the last nine holes.... I play every week and will most likely go and play at a course that may not be maintained as well; however that has a staff that is happy to have my business. We finished 18 in 3 hours and 10 minutes.
Executive Paradise
Great little executive course to sharpen your skills. Features all of the amenities of a full sized course (sand traps, approach shots, hazards) minus 1-2 wood/hybrid shots per hole. This shortens play time considerably but allows you to work on what really counts on the real course. I have learned that the driving range may be coming down and that the par 4's will be changed to par 3s in order to eliminate the first two holes should a sale go through to redevelop the property. This would be a loss for the course but unfortunately a necessity for the course's survival.
Great iron practice
I've played this course several times. I really enjoy the view. And for a beginning golfer this course has everything you need. It's great for iron play!
Great Greens, Well Maintained, Tee Boxes - Not so Much
We played on a Saturday morning and the course was in fine condition, greens well maintained, fairways were very nice, and the pace of play was pretty good, only had to wait a couple of times for the groupo ahead to clear the green. Our only complaint was the crowning on the tee boxes. Several of the tees were quite noticeably crowned, making it hard to find a spot to tee off where the ball was the same level as your feet. The tee boxes need to be leveled. Otherwise, it was an enjoyable round.
quick course well maintained
Great staff, friendly and informed
Quick 18 executive, beautiful setting, well maintained
Definitely recommended
If I could give it 6 stars, I would
Played a round with my 11 year old grandson for the first time. We had a wonderful experience. The layout, conditions, staff, play time, scenery, all combined for a wonderful day. Thank you!!
whatta deal !!
Got GolfNow deal..........played in 2 3/4 hours, greens all the same...SLOW !!!! Always fun here....and challenging..harder than it looks. Great short game workout
This course has great qualities.
Great course to gone accuracy, includes 16 par 3s. Very well maintained, and challenging. Great experience.
The course is nice, short and sweet!
It is an excellent course to practice one's short game or like myself to take my 7 year old grandson out for some great play at a great price! He loved it and we have been around the valley doing only 9 holes and he thought it was terrific to play a full 18! Great time to go as well as there were not a lot of people out and we could take our time learning course management and all about mulligans! Would definitely recommend it!
Beautiful Arizona Setting
Nestled near Camelback Mountain this course is in a beautiful setting. You will meet polite fellow golfers with pleats and ironed shirts. The staff is super accommodating and friendly so you feel welcome and at home. The variety of holes will hone your short game and also test the longer clubs in your bag. This course is one of the reasons they call it Paradise Valley. Golf well and often. Jimmy
Tough course with great features.
The course has narrow fairways and small greens with sandtraps and water on many holes around the greens. The course is always fun to play. The sandtraps were rather hard but everything else was fine.
Best Executive Course in Arizona!
This executive course lies in the Camelback Mountains and is by far the best (short course) I've played in the State (16 par 3's and 2 par 4's). Well maintained, lots of sand, some beautiful water holes and wonderful views.
Mountain Shadows
PV's little jewel of a GREAT GC! Always enjoy playing there. Thank God all parties have come around and resolved there issues. Would have lost another GREAT GC since it beginnings(1957).
Great short course
Mountain Shadows is a gem of a course. Some would say it is a good place to practice your short game, as if real golf is only played on a championship course. I would say that Mountain Shadows is a great place to soak in the pleasures of golf's short game. There is much to enjoy here. The backdrop of Camelback Mountain and other views of Paradise Valley reveal why this is such a coveted address. Tees, fairways, greens and bunkers are well maintained. The course has a nice variety of hole layouts. Most are about 170 yards but there are plenty of elevated bunkers that protect the greens and require players to make an accurate shot. Even the short holes require skill, placing the greens behind beautifully designed water hazards. Some would tell you to leave your driver behind but if you drive less than 240 yards and can hit it straight, there are three holes where you might pull off your head cover.
When I played early in the morning, the pace was brisk. I left wanting more. You couldn't ask much more of a short course.
Excellent
Great Executive course and very well kept for this time of year in Arizona
Beautiful, fun little course!
Great value, friendly staff, well-maintained. 4-5 very short holes punctuate more difficult par 3's and a couple 4's on a hilly executive course requiring accuracy and putting skill. Fun!
