The Phoenician Golf Club
About
The Phoenician Golf Club reopened in the fall of 2018 after a massive redesign and renovation by Scottsdale-based architect Phil Smith. The new 18-hole layout replaces the original 27-hole routing. Every hole is new, featuring TifEagle grass greens and tees, fairways and rough that are 419 Bermuda grass. The golf shop has been expanded as well, and the Club Car golf carts have been outfitted with the "Shark Experience" - a new golf technology with a high-definition touch screen and built-in speakers for playing music and watching live sports, news and entertainment, along with GPS yardage.

Canyon Course...tee off towards Camelback Mtn. Photo submitted by u000001276894 on 09/24/2012
Beautiful view
Definitely playing again.
OK but many better choices for same price
Course is short and narrow . A couple of spectacular par 3 holes, but overall conditions of the greens were poor. Fairways were good shape. Not bad for the money, but for this time of year there are many nice courses that are in much better conditions for about same amount of money.
Play it again soon
Fantastic course layout, fairways in great shape, but the greens could use some TLC. Played 18 on a warm June morning, second foursome off the 1st tee on the Oasis course. Expected water coolers every three or four holes, typical for most Phoenix area courses, but found none. Will most certainly play again this summer. Great value for the green fees paid.
Not for beginners
Deep bunkers, some water in play, have to use course management skill.
NOT A TRADITIONAL COURSE
This is a great course, lots of up and downs. Well taken care of. The Phoenician must hold some sort of record for the number of landscape maintenance workers on the course. Every hole I played had some sort of activity with landscaping maintenance. The desert 9 was interesting. The canyon 9 was stacked fairways back and forth up the mountain. Great views and great service but personally would not frequent this course from strictly a golf viewpoint. I kept looking for the dinosaurs and windmills.
Phoenician
Having played the Phoenician several times before, I was looking forward to the round and was expecting good conditions. I am aware that this is a transition time on the course, and expected dried out greens in order to prepare for aerofication. However, I was very disappointed with the conditions of the fairways, with many brown spots. Not worth the money unless you great a good deal under $20.
Arizona Gem
I really enjoyed this course. Great layout, good conditions, interesting scenery. Would play again with the deal we got on Golfnow!
super nice condition beautiful
Always a joy to be on property at the Phoenician almost hate to give it 5 stars cause like it to remain a bit of a secret.
Fun and fair
First time at PGC. Very fun course. A taste of desert golf but fair and not penal like others I've played. Kind of short but bunkering makes up for it. Got great rate on golfnow.
The course has great scenery and views
We played the middle tees (6000 yards), but don't be fooled by the shorter distance, if you are not hitting straight the desert will grab your ball on numerous holes. Due to the slopes of the fairways, they are sometimes effectively half as wide as they appear from the tee unless you can hit a fade or draw when needed. Greens were in good shape excepting a lot of unfixed ball marks. The constant challenge with Phoenician is reading the greens, the Camelback mountain slope makes most balls break away from it, even when it appears the greens are slanting toward the mountain. The cart GPS was incorrect up to 20 yards at times, but did not impact us as we had rangefinders anyway. I always enjoy the Phoenician just for the stunning views, and the price was great at $47. Two months ago you would have paid $150 or more. This course will force you to concentrate on hitting the fairway more than most, but when you go back to a course not as tight, you'll feel like you're playing in a city park.
"A must play"!!!
Fab..very well maintained.. Very pleasing to the eye..greens in "GREAT" shape!!!!
beautiful!
breathtaking views. great conditions. Played in 3.5 hours.
Great cpurse
Challenging layouts. Enjoyed the facilities
Just OK
As one might expect for a resort course, this is 27 holes squeezed into odd space restrictions, which results in too many bad holes. Course is pleasant and well maintained but it is not a great course.
The reason we golf.
The top golf resort in Scottsdale period! ! !
Great Course
Pleasantly surprised at the quality of this course. Excellent condition with very friendly staff. A great round of golf.
Great elevations
This course was in excellent shape. The greens were very fast and the fairways were well maintained. There are some very good elevation changes that gave great views of the valley and city of Phoenix. Staff was friendly and very helpful.
Beautiful course and and in excellent condition
The three of us loved the course and would play it again the next time in Scottsdale. It has challenging holes on it and some easier ones. It was a great experience.
Fun course
Played the canyon/oasis course. The course was perfectly maintained and the greens rolled true. Some blind shots made it hard for a first time playing the course but it is an instant favorite.
Good Coursr
Good course. Need rangers to be more visible
People started slowing way down on back nine.
Great greens am fairways. In a lot of places looks like a living room carpet.
On the short side, but challenged you to place some shots to stay out of the desert.
