Legend Trail Golf Club
About
When the architect Rees Jones created the golf course at the Legend Trail Golf Club, he created a golf course that brings out the Old West-style air of Scottsdale and a fun and testing golf course with greens made of bent grass. It's a premium golf course smack dab in the Sonora Desert.
The golf course at the Legend Trail Golf Club features broad fairways, diminutive bunkering and tees placed on islands, and has been called one of the Top 100 golf courses by Golf Magazine. The magazine also gives Legend Trail 4.5 stars out of five among its
Best Places to Play, and has one of the Top 100 Woman-Friendly Fairways, according to Golf For Women magazine. Panoramas include local sites like Pinnacle Peak, and a round at Legend Trail Golf Club gives all levels of golfer several different shot-making options.
Golf a late-afternoon round on Friday or Saturday, and head back to the Trail's End Grill from 4 to 6 p.m. for specials on drinks and appetizers.

Another Great Hole Photo submitted by mhinkle on 09/23/2012
Very well maintained course
I played poorly but enjoyed the course- bunkers were very different from the Denver area - very little sand .
Marshalls
We played a foursome. All during the first nine the Marshall kept telling us to step it up. We were almost a hole ahead of the twosome behind us and never held them up. We finished the front nine in 2 hours and 8 minutes. At the turn we were told we had to skip 10 or leave the course. We went to 11 and never saw another person ahead or behind us. This was uncalled for and ruined the round for all of us. Frankly, the were unreasonable and I’m unlikely to play here again. Almost every course I’ve played consider a 4 hour 15 minute round to be the pace of play. We did a 4 hour 15 minute round ( we went back and played 10). Their pace of play policy needs some work!
Fantastic course!!
Very nice golf course in the Northwest part of Scottsdale!! We were greeted by a very friendly staff from the get go!! Course was in great shape and pace of play was excellent. Very good course layout!! Front nine gets you warmed up and the back nine puts your skills to the test!! Highly recommend to anyone that would like a great course and super friendly staff!! Oh, also price was very competitive!! Will be going back first chance!!
good track..........
Course in good shape and friendly staff....pace of play was good....only downside is they still have gas carts....not a fan of sniffing fumes from cart in front of me......
Windy Day
Course was basically unplayable due to wind conditions. Overall, overpriced vs other courses in the area.
Fair course, but.....
Played 2nd week of April and the course was in great condition. Having played a number of the more well-known courses in the area, thought I would venture out and play this community course. The course is quite fair from fairway to green and less difficult than some of the more we’ll-known courses in the area. If you are a short hitter and hitting from the Copper tees, the carry on some holes may be difficult to cover. Bunkers were in good shape, but some were a little thin in places. All in all, a fun course with some interesting holes with some character set against the beautiful AZ mountains.
Great Condition & Value
IMO, this is the hidden gem located in North Scottsdale. Course is great shape, greens are fair and all rolled true and consistent. Very enjoyable yet challenging from the tips. Will definitely be back this trip and ever golf trip to Arizona.
nice layout..
good course...a bit of a trek to get there in the middle of housing area but very nice layout and playable....did not like gas powered carts as you breathe fumes all day but other than that a good track to play
Cash grab
My golf partner (wife) shoulder injury so she joined me just to ride and enjoy the weather. Checked in in pro shop - ‘that will be $35 for your rider! You are a 4some so that will be 3 carts in your group’. We discussed - nope! She left ran some errands. So by my tee time (12:54) the range is dead, starter gets me out a good 10 mins early. As a 3some. Couple drives up to starter, they were 12:54 and ended up behind us. So my group and on both sides were 3,3 and 2. Not a 4 some in sight. Starter did a real good job getting people out early and moving. I didn’t think place was terribly busy. So at end of round (3hrs40) talking to cart guys, one says to me ‘yah we’re not very busy, can tee off as late as 3 today and get full round in’. Pro shop knows their starter, had to know there were holes in the tee sheet. Could have easily had my wife with me and not caused any extra wear and tear on the course or extra carts. Looks to be a cash grab to me. If a liability issue, we’ll sign a form or pay $5. $35 = cash grab!
Spring Break 2019
Beautiful desert scenery. Excellent course and excellent conditions. Will play often and one of my favorites.
Another Troon owned adventure
You can’t go wrong when the Troon name is associated with a course.. wildlife including Bobcats birds rabbits very entertaining! The price of a drink is steep but the cart person is very friendly!! Lots of fun and lots is cactus.
Not what I expected
First let me say Legend Trail is in nice condition and a very playable layout. But I have never played a nice course with greens so slow and I mean s-l-o-w. The grass on the green was seeding, something I have never seen before, so obviously they need to be cut and rolled. My opinion would be much different with even medium paced greens and would enjoy the course with fast greens.
I was not expecting so many homes as I was under the impression this was a desert course, but it is more a nice course wandering through homes. There are just too many picturesque courses in the Phoenix area to waste a day on a course with s-l-o-w greens that is crowded between homes. I will say we were paired up with 2 high handicap players that liked the slow greens so take that into consideration.
Solid course. Good condition. Greens good. Bunkers a little shy for sand and lots of grass clippings around the green. All in better than most courses !
Great St. Patty roui
Played in less than four hours. Was a threesom with two players that had played the course before. Only complaint is the bunkers had almost no sand. Hard pack. Fairways greens and tees were great
