Mesquite/Ironwood at Kierland Golf Club
About
Unlike many other Scottsdale courses, Kierland Golf Club's three nines sprawl across rolling hills without a single cactus in sight. The nines are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Mesquite/Ironwood Course is has player-friendly fairways that are generous and easy and the green are large but not particularly undulating or fast, which makes the golf course accessible to a range of different skill levels. The course isn't entirely forgiving though. The Mesquite nine may be the flattest of the three nines but it is also the toughest. The par-4 sixth is especially demanding. The challenges of Mesquite are balanced by the player-friendly nature of the Ironwood nine. There is some strategic mounding but overall the links design is very approachable. The golf course ends with its signature hole, a classic risk-reward opportunity with a lake to the right and sand traps to the left.

Golfer Reviews
Slow and steady kills the pace...
Course conditions were ideal. I've played Kierland 100+ times and I've never seen the greens run this smooth, this fast and be this receptive!
The downside - 5+ hour round with a half-empty course due to back to back elderly twosomes with no marshal moving them along... This part was MISERABLE!! If I paid the posted $200 green fee (which is ludicrous anywhere in AZ...) I would never come back
Not worth the money
Course layout is only average, a lot of holes run back and forth next to each other and next to a fence along the streets. Not very scenic as expected.
Courses in this price range usually have staff that's overly helpful, not the case hear. Cart GPS system not very good. Not even a couple complemtary bottles of water!
Best pace of play
Great course conditions. Staff paired us up with another twosome as requested. Pace of play was best we have had in the time we have been here
Pricey!!!
Nice coarse...pace of play a little slow. For the money I was expecting it to be a little nicer
Staff
Great staff most friendly and accommodating in the valley
Great shape !!
Awesome & fun course !! Very smooth greens
Nice, though unmemorable
Good parking lot to tee service. Highly manicured, it is much like the courses over at Talking Stick- flat, not difficult, a little too much sameness on each hole, not much to remember, seemingly built on inexpensive, leftover real estate. Easy course for tee shots- fairways mostly wide and forgiving. Many traps, sand is top quality. Do like how they keep the vegetation trimmed back so easy to find an errant ball. Greens were well designed and fair, though a bit hard (vs soft). The range is closed to the public unless you're playing a round- grass tees but grass cut too short on them. Practice bunker(s) closed. On course beverage service frequent and well priced, except for the $7 hot dogs and no fresh condiments. Directly under the airport traffic patterns for nearby Scottsdale airport- lots of helicopter and low altitude propeller and business jet noise. In all, a nice choice for under $90, otherwise, not worth anything close to what they charge for "rack rate" in or near high season.
Nice resort style course
Normally I wont play at Kierland because of the cost, but got a really good deal on Golf Now. Couse was in good shape overall and was a challenge for me from the copper tees as I am not a big hitter. Fairways are generous and the greens were in good shape and rolled well. Greens are heavily guarded with sand traps. Highlight of the round was standing over a birdie putt while a bagpiper was playing at sunset.
very nice course all around
I stayed at the hotel and decided to play one more time before go home (played 2 days prior on other courses). Stuff is great, greens are great, played in 3h 15 min, even "cart path only".(1st ttime of the day)
I would come back if only AZ would not get so many great courses that we can play for the 1st time and enjoy it! ( and believe me-we are spoiled and picky with golf courses in CO)
Fun round
Excellent course. Wide open and less mentally taxing.
Premium
Compared to other facilities in the area you'll pay a premium to play this course, but I find that the conditions are premium as well so it warrants it.
great facility
Very enjoyable round. The price offered by Golf Now was great especially since I am a resident. I do not like when the rates go up as they do. You would think the courses would give the residents a break during the season since we play here all year round.
Over priced
Very nice course. Good conditions given the overseeding season. Vers good Pace. Just over priced.
Resort Golf
Got paired up with guys playing the tips. While they were fine with whatever box I played from, felt a little pressure of myself to play just one box up from them when my skill level would have indicated 2 boxes forward the better choice. Nevertheless, the course was playable enough for me even though I was a bit beyond my length capabilities while still providing a fine challenge for the 3 guys I was paired with who were very good golfers. Pleasant layout, challenging shots with reward for accuracy. I played it twice this week and enjoyed it both times. Ironically, I was 5 shots lower from the deeper tees...
Great overall golf experience
Kierland is a golf course at a resort, not just a resort golf course. The pro shop, practice facility, and course layout all match up in level excellence. This is the type of course you can mix in to a trip or play three days in a row and enjoy just as much. I will keep coming back.
Nothing but fun.
After all five stars, I've said all that I can say.
nice course
the course conditions were very good to excellent...the fairways were nicely cut and the greens were in very good shape...the course overall is pretty fun and does not beat you up...dont overpay for this course though and look for deals on golfnow....not worth what they get in the winter..
