Mesquite/Ironwood at Kierland Golf Club
About
Unlike many other Scottsdale courses, Kierland Golf Club's three nines sprawl across rolling hills without a single cactus in sight. The nines are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Mesquite/Ironwood Course is has player-friendly fairways that are generous and easy and the green are large but not particularly undulating or fast, which makes the golf course accessible to a range of different skill levels. The course isn't entirely forgiving though. The Mesquite nine may be the flattest of the three nines but it is also the toughest. The par-4 sixth is especially demanding. The challenges of Mesquite are balanced by the player-friendly nature of the Ironwood nine. There is some strategic mounding but overall the links design is very approachable. The golf course ends with its signature hole, a classic risk-reward opportunity with a lake to the right and sand traps to the left.

Resort Course that you pay a Premium for Location
Well Kierland has three nines and is a resort course. Many of the fairways have large mounds or hills that help your ball back into play. Course is ok, but not worth $200 per round. I booked on Golfnow and paid half that amount. Anyway, I'd play this course again. Just be cognizant of the green fees. Driving rain was nice.
This is a great course and in great condition. Great Staff
Everything about Kierland is great except the price. As have other courses in the area they have raised their prices to the point of excluding alot of people. Not necessarily the way to GROW golf
Immaculate Conditions, Beuatiful Resort Vistas
Loved the two courses we played - Mezquite and Acacia. They were both challenging and fair, and both were in excellent condition. Beautiful mountain vistas along the way. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Only the 9th hole on Acacia was a bit over the top. Sharp slopes toward the water and no cart access. You had to keep going up and down from the cart path to the ball. Got very tiring. Added 15 minutes to the round.
Beautiful condition, moderately difficult, exepensive.
The course was in excellent condition and the layout of the course provided for fairly easy play. A tad expensive for an average day out, but worth a splurge if you're looking for a good course close to Scottsdale.
Excellent shape and pace. Could not ask for better.
Acacia on the front, challenging and awesome. Back was the Mesquite side and rather flat but still in great shape. Greens are true, fairways are nice, keeping drives in them is key, longer grass outside fairways adds difficulty and length. We played a combination between gold and black to keep things realistic and fair. Suggest other golfers do the same for pace. Staff helpful and allowed excellent time between groups, no over crowding like the rest of the valley recently. Enjoy a great golf outing,
Very nice tourist course.
The fairways and greens were in excellent shape and manicured. The layout of the holes was good but not memorable or challenging. It certainly meets expectations of an upscale tourist course which was what we wanted for our first round of the new year.
GREAT COURSE
I would rate this course as one of the top 5 I have played in the last 25 years. The shape of the coures was excellent. The deal we bought to play there was also the best in the last 25 years. This course has everything for the beginner to the scratch golfer. The greens were perfect not slow and not pro speed. The practice area was a little small but very well done with yardages and putting green was at the same speed as the course was. The staff were very helpful getting us to the right 9. I will be looking a booking deal to play there again.
Well maintained with lots of beauty from tee to green!
Loved playing the course for the first time, just disappointed that the price is not in my range without a discount deal.
Generous fairways-well protected greens-interesting pin placements.
Beautiful desert course and immaculately maintained.
Had one of my better rounds of the year with friends from Scottsdale.
Found it somewhat pricey compared to other similarly prominent courses that have more character, elevation changes and scenery.
Great layout.
This course has a great layout. You have to work for you're pars but the course isn't so difficult you want to quit the game when finished.
overpriced
basic golf course, tees and greens witrh wide fairways. Far too expensive at 65 let alone the 200 they want to charge.
This course is in excellent condition
Course was well maintained, excellent staff and course marshall did his best to keep pace of play going. If the marsall was not on his toes this could have been a 5 hour plus round.
Well manicured and a great course for every level of player
This was the second time we have played this course. Though the course is enjoyable they overbooked the tee times as far as I am concerned and then the Marshall was complaining about the pace of play. We were chastised for stopping to get a sandwich at the turn and rudely told that he was moving the foursome behind us up. Little did he know that we were with that group anyways. When golfing at a resort of this caliber, you would think that they would make the experience more enjoyable.
Course in great shape.
Good course in great shape. Lots of room to miss in both directions. Good place to start a golf trip or warm up your swing after layoff. Troon, TPC, or Wekopa are better values at rack rate but this is a good play if you can get it at a discount or resident rate.
Course is beautiful
I recieved a great deal for this normally high priced course. For the $69.00 I paid for the round, I thought the course was worth it. Its an extremely beautiful and challenging course. The emaculate and undulating fairways (sometimes perfect drives are thwarted by downhill/uphill lies) made for a challenging day. Staff was profession, eager to help and extremely friendly. The bevarge cart, as promised was seen twice per each nine. I would play there again if the price was right. I am glad I finally decided to try it.
Nice course
Club rental was ridiculously expensive.
Alissa in the golf shop went out of her way to help with all my needs and pro shop purchases.give her a raise
Beautiful Course
We really enjoyed this course and the driving range facilities are top notch! There is a canopy cover that is adjustable for the sun position and a golf pro is available on the range to provide tips for those who want them. We had an excellent experience.
Excellent
12-2-12 was my first time here. Great range area, gorgeous property, and excellent golf. The 2 nines we played were in great shape, with quick greens. We played in 3 1/2 hours (but were the 1st ones out). Now one of my top Scottsdale golf facilities.
You should play this course.
Excellent conditions, very friendly staff, great course to play, a little pricey.
Perfect Day with my Father
Course was in beautiful shape it is hilly on the Acadia course so the cart path only made for some tricky climb down to areas. The couple we were paired with could not have been more enjoyable to spend a day on the links with it was great!
