Acacia/Mesquite at Kierland Golf Club
About
Kierland Golf Club boasts three unique nines that are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Acacia/Mesquite Course begins with Kierland's signature nine. Acacia features gently sloping fairways, all of which are bordered by bunkers. The last four holes are the most memorable, particularly the finishing hole, which is the club's signature hole. It is a tricky par 5 with water all along the left side of the fairway to the bunker-protected green. Along the way there are also fairway bunkers that sit just past the water and strategic mounding on the other side. It is a true accomplishment just to make par. Acacia is a formidable challenge but many would argue that the Mesquite nine is more difficult. Its par-4 sixth hole might be the golf course's toughest.

Premium
Compared to other facilities in the area you'll pay a premium to play this course, but I find that the conditions are premium as well so it warrants it.
great facility
Very enjoyable round. The price offered by Golf Now was great especially since I am a resident. I do not like when the rates go up as they do. You would think the courses would give the residents a break during the season since we play here all year round.
Over priced
Very nice course. Good conditions given the overseeding season. Vers good Pace. Just over priced.
Resort Golf
Got paired up with guys playing the tips. While they were fine with whatever box I played from, felt a little pressure of myself to play just one box up from them when my skill level would have indicated 2 boxes forward the better choice. Nevertheless, the course was playable enough for me even though I was a bit beyond my length capabilities while still providing a fine challenge for the 3 guys I was paired with who were very good golfers. Pleasant layout, challenging shots with reward for accuracy. I played it twice this week and enjoyed it both times. Ironically, I was 5 shots lower from the deeper tees...
Great overall golf experience
Kierland is a golf course at a resort, not just a resort golf course. The pro shop, practice facility, and course layout all match up in level excellence. This is the type of course you can mix in to a trip or play three days in a row and enjoy just as much. I will keep coming back.
Nothing but fun.
After all five stars, I've said all that I can say.
Okay course, great experience with Golf Board
Next time I play this course, I am for sure getting the Golf Board again, that was the only factor that drew me out to Kierland.
awesome
The course was in great shape!! will be back. This was an awesome course, the views are great also
nice course
the course conditions were very good to excellent...the fairways were nicely cut and the greens were in very good shape...the course overall is pretty fun and does not beat you up...dont overpay for this course though and look for deals on golfnow....not worth what they get in the winter..
Cart paths and hills
For older golfers there is too much hiking up and down. Paths are too far from greens in some cases.
Great bunkering
The course was in great condition. The greens were rolling true, fairways in excellent shape & the bunkers had just the right amount of sand. played all 27 holes
the ironwood / acacia was my favorite, the mesquite was nice as well.
I will definitely play here again.
Great course overall
Beautiful course... forgiving off the tees and gives you a great chance to score well from the mens tees. Course maintenance is I'm sure a huge challenge during the late summer in AZ but I lost strokes to pooled water in low areas and greens covered in sand. I'll play here again in the fall but for now there are better deals to be had in AZ.
Kierland 81515 review
I believe Ironwood / Acacia provides the best challenge
Met expectations
A last minute decision on a near record setting day of 111 degrees F, found the misters on the carts extremely necessary.
Played as a single and it wasn't until the 15th hole that I caught up with a single player.
Played the course in less than 3 hrs.
Found it a very good layout with plenty of challenges for a 12 handicapper.
I am looking forward to play the course again when it is a bit cooler.
3 Solid 9's
Have played all 3 nines at Kierland several times. The practice facility and general aura of the course are very nice. Always in great shape and rarely slow, as the 3 nines are awesome for pace of play. Similar to the Phoenician in that. Greens roll nice and reads are straight forward. Driver is the club on nearly every par 4 and 5, given you can work it a little bit. Fairways slant inwards! The challenge is really on your irons if you want to score well. Short game areas aren't too challenging, excluding the deep bunkers, but pars are easy to come by. However birdies come with quality iron shots!
Might have to go to the resort restaurant and bar for your 19th hole.
nice resort course
Course is in good shape greens were recently aerated
though and not quite back
no aerification notice
I was very disappointed to discover on our first green that they had just aerified the greens on the Acacia course. When we played our back nine on the Mequite course, although not as bad it appeared that aerification was done on that nine within the last week or two. I had invited an out of town guest so I was somewhat embarrassed bringing him to play these "sub par" conditions as I had bragged to him that we were going to play one of the best courses in the valley, it certainly wasn't on this day. There was no mention in the Golf Now listing of an aerification alert so I thought we would of had better conditions. Playing on days of 105+ degrees one looks for anything to make the day more positive and the conditions of the greens definately did not help and only added to an already less than stellar playing day.
First round
We were not told when booking that the course had recently been aerated. Some of the greens were pretty bumpy because of it. Other than that and the hardness of the sand in some bunkers, the course seemed to be in decent shape.
Great course!
Got a great GolfNow rate ($25) for an afternoon in the summer. Took a half day off and played. Finished in about three hours, with a couple stops. The course was in really old shape. As a newbie, I particularly enjoyed the pretty open fairways on most courses. The challenge definitely seemed more in the approach to the green shots. Either way, had a great time and the scenery was beautiful. Will definitely try to come back.
