The Desert/Oasis Course was the Phoenician's first 18 holes, which were later joined by the Canyon nine. The aptly named course may have desert surroundings but its numerous palm trees and blooming flowers will make golfers feel as though they've been transported to a tropical destination. Although all three golf courses cover only 150 acres, none of them feel cramped. Any lack of length is quickly forgotten after playing the creative challenges of the layout. The golf course offers plenty of variety that make it appealing to low and high handicappers alike. Dramatic elevation changes characterize the Desert nine, providing the breathtaking views that have led it to be the most requested course. The Oasis nine is memorable as well with water coming into play on six holes and a unique moat of sand on the par-4 finishing hole.

Phoenician
Course in great shape for the AZ summer heat.
Plenty of water and cart service on a 107* day.
One of the few courses with playable sand traps.
The Phoenician
Very friendly staff, excellent amenities, golf carts are first class, bottled water on the course and very scenic views on the back 9, the course was in very good condition despite the construction going on around some areas of the course. Great experience overall.
So many other options
Basically charging 100 for a course that is in absolutely horrible shape. Troon should be fined for this. Greens were in good shape but everything else in course was horrible. Fairways were half dead and there was enough water to save Somalia. So many better options for the price take ride to any other course for $100
Always a fun course
Appears they are letting the fairways die for summer seed. Greens and rest of the course were in great condition though. Love the layout
Great Place to Play
Played with some cool people staying at the resort. The views on the back 9 are amazing. Shot an 86 and made some new friends. I'll play here again.
Mud Bog
I was fully prepared for aeration, but I was not prepared for how muddy this course was. I played at ~11am and you have thought they deep-soaked it 5 mins before I tee'd off. Zero roll out and if you didn't pick the ball clean, you ended up with a huge clump of mud on the end of your club. I realize this is a transitionary period for the grass, but I've never played on a course this muddy during transition. They need to close it down until it dries out a bit or ease up on the water. I've played several courses in transition over the past couple of weeks and this was, by far, the worst shape. Layout was fine, bunkers were fine, pace of play wasn't bad since there weren't many people out there. Nice track when it's dry. If I had paid full price, I would have asked for my money back.
Not in great shape for the price
Not trying to be overly critical because I know it’s that time of year for dry/dead fairways in Phoenix, but for $100 I expected better conditions. Greens were 8/10. Plenty of other courses for half the price this time of year with similar or better conditions.
burnt out fairways and hard binkers
many parts of fairways burnt out and bunkers were pretty hard pan
Round at Phoenician
This is my second time playing this course. I like the old design better especially for the finishing hole. 18 is funky, a fairly long par four where you have to cut the corner over newly built Homes/Condos to get in good position for a short iron in. I'm pretty sure they will put up screens when the homes are complete which will cut off that option. You can hit it straight but your second shot will be 200 yards plus to a peninsula green. We played during the summer reseed and the Bermuda grass was not fully in so there were many wet bare spots that you had to hit off of. We decided to play lift clean and replace since the fairways where so spotty. Overall good course. The men's locker room up-stairs bar are exceptional.
Hot day
Perfectly good day. And course provided enough green-challenges
