Editor's Note: Course closed in 2018. See The Phoenician Golf Club listing.

The Desert/Oasis Course was the Phoenician's first 18 holes, which were later joined by the Canyon nine. The aptly named course may have desert surroundings but its numerous palm trees and blooming flowers will make golfers feel as though they've been transported to a tropical destination. Although all three golf courses cover only 150 acres, none of them feel cramped. Any lack of length is quickly forgotten after playing the creative challenges of the layout. The golf course offers plenty of variety that make it appealing to low and high handicappers alike. Dramatic elevation changes characterize the Desert nine, providing the breathtaking views that have led it to be the most requested course. The Oasis nine is memorable as well with water coming into play on six holes and a unique moat of sand on the par-4 finishing hole.

Nice layout but tough to enjoy with cart path only

Course was in really good shape except for shaggy greens. I would have enjoyed it more but cart path only really makes it tough to stay focused, choose clubs etc when I didn’t know the layout. Very friendly staff, would definitely play it again. Waited on almost every hole, a little over 4.5 hrs

Very enjoyable resort course

The course is an excellent resort course, with generous fairways and challenging greens. The back nine had a more interesting layout with a more varied terrain, although it played considerably shorter than the front. We played the gold tees (second longest), but thought we would have enjoyed it more had we played the tips. The course was in pristine condition, and the greens were very fast with lots of subtle movement.

The course is in pristine condition

Scenic landscaping with lush green fairways in a desert setting with mountain backdrops. It was absolutely beautiful. One little drawback was that it was cart path only.

Great conditions, bunkers need work

Great layout and the course was in great shape. The bunkers were nearly unplayable,- hard pan and almost no sand. Cart path only - wish they would have told us. Very freindly and helpful staff.

Nice Redesign

First time back to the Phoenician since the redesign (they consolidated 3 nine hole tracks into one 18). New layout much improved, back nine is very memorable close to Camelback Mt. Fairways and greens both in good condition even right before winter over-seeding.

There are a few very long distances from green to the next tee, but not really a problem in a cart. Only downside was the massive construction of homes on the grounds; this is obviously temporary.

Bring you own booze

Seriously. The prices for drinks out here are insane. $90 for 2 bloodys, a double jemison and 2 beers. I'm fine paying for my drinking at a golf course, but, this is nuts
