Talking Stick Golf Club - O'odham Course

This was our first time playing this course. The course was challenging due to the depth of the bunkers. I was able to practice using my sand wedge on numerous occasions. The greens were very fast. It was difficult to get the speed right. Played with Bruce and Mike who were there for a convention. Really had fun. Temperature was 93 degrees but comfortable.

Course really busy with lots of local and resort guests playing it. It has very wide fairways that sometimes make it hard to aim the drive to a target. The south course is probably a better choice than the north. Staff friendliness and maintenance management (sprinklers running on driving range just beside people hitting!) could be improved.

No players assistant...front nine 2 hours hit a wall on back 2:40 to play back

Pace of play was terrible no ranger ever came by 5 -51/2 he round too slow with the temp it was today. Also doesn't anyone rake traps and repair ball marks.

Marshall refused to push group in front of us 2 holes open in front and made a 4 hrs round turn into 5 1/2 hour round. No sand in bunkers and why is it nobody rakes bunkers had to hit out of footprints will never play this course again and will caution anybody from playinj

This is a convenient course as it is close to town, scenic and well maintained. The fairways are for the most part wide, the greens roll well, and bunkers are in great shape. The terrain does not allow for a spectacular layout but it makes for an enjoyable round that allows you to be home or at the casino at a reasonable time.

The golf course is wonderful if you can stand the loud music blaring out of the casino over the golf course. At times one can only hear the bass of the music and nothing else. It is terribly annoying especially when trying to golf. They need to turn off that terrible outside music so the golf course is quieter.

The course was in good shape considering it was 105 degrees out. The cart staff was really friendly and the starter got me going (a single) when there was a gap in play before some bigger groups went off. The beverage cart came around several times during the round to make sure all was well and the other golfers on the course seemed to understand that it was hot and kept play moving very quickly. I finished my round in 2.5 hours. Now realize it was the middle of the summer in Phoenix, super hot, and by myself, but you can get around this track pretty easily. The layout was really nice with no major overlap between holes. Some of the fairways are HUGE and didn't have a hard time finding even mis-hit shots. That sped up the round for sure. Overall had great afternoon of golf in the heat and would come back again.

The weather was hot, but the course was great and because of the heat, the pace of play was awesome! This course has some really good challenges and a variety of holes. The pin placements were tough on some holes, but overall, very nice course and fair. When I play it again, I will know better where to hit the ball to keep it in play.

The course its self was pretty good even though the greens were aired one week before. However, the pace of play was painfully slow. It took my group about 4 and half hours to finish simply because we were waiting for the groups in front of us on every shot for the full 18. We did not see a single ranger on the course the entire time and the staff in the clubhouse actually double charged us on the payment when their computers went down.

The yardage makers were not very viewable. It was hard to get yardages to the pin with the second shot.

Great course, well maintained. Only complaint today was super slow play.

It has been years since I played the North Course. What a treat. It was in excellent shape! We finished our round in just over 4 hours. I took a client and he thoroughly enjoyed it. All of your staff members were very pleasant.

Talking Stick playing conditions always live up to the Troon standard for golf. The North course has a bit more of a "desert" feel to it than it's sister South course. Solid layout, with a good mix of risk/ reward, easy and bombers holes. You can't go wrong playing Troon.....

The North coarse was in ideal conditions for summer. Good value this time of year.

Played on July afternoon and got lucky with cloud cover. Course was in excellent shape, played in 3 1/2 hours. Ranger came around with free water and Gatorade, Nice!

The only reason I gave Talking stick one star for pace of play is because I can't figure out how to give them negative stars on this application. I work in the golf business and play a lot. I've never seen a course send out so many twosomes without pairing anyone up. There was no ranger and didn't have any staff that was remotely friendly besides the beverage girl. This course is boring and easy. Do not waist your time or your money on this course.

Overall a good course but played hard. Fairways & greens were very hard. No ball marks on the greens which showed the hardness of the greens. Fairways cut too thin which made it hard to pick the ball off the fairway. But very open & forgiving. Very flat course.

Super slow greens. A good challenge with some tough driving holes. Bring your driver to the green.

The chicken wrap was really delicious. Very impressed with the course conditions. The only change I would make is to add a little more speed to the greens.
