Talking Stick Golf Club - O'odham Course
About
The Talking Stick Golf Club features two golf courses designed by the architecture team of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, who created distinct golf courses with enough choices to accommodate all levels of golfers. The golf club sits on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community reservation, a spot that provides the serenity necessary to endure a testing day of golf.
"Talking Stick's O'odham (formerly known as North Course) course, with its broad, angular holes rewards thoughtful play through the rise of its many options according to one's level of skill. Its low-profile, slightly crowned greens and close-cropped approaches encourage running as well as aerial assaults." -- Bill Coore & Ben Crenshaw
The second hole is a par 5 that measures 552 yards from the Black tee and is one of two long holes, with the 17th being a par 5 that plays to 582 yards from the Black tees.
The 18th hole on the O'odham Course at the Talking Stick Golf Club is shorter, relatively speaking, a par 4 that measures 471 yards from the Black tees.

nice experience
The north course which we played is very fair and playable. Greens were slower then expected but putts ran well.
Beverage cart discontinued service just after 4pm which was weird.
Would recommend to play if your in town
Lightning
Almost stopped playing due to the lightning. I was glad we stayed,it sprinkled on us 4 or 5 times. I thought the course was in great shape. Thanks
Good course
Great price, course was in great shape. Worth the money, would recommend.
great golf course, but sloooow greens
Both of the Talking Stick Golf courses are beautiful and always fun to play...BUT, i played there about 4 times between march and June and the greens were always super slow and not really exciting to putt on.
Also bunkers need work...rock hard and no sand at all.
Still a nice course that I can recommend
Great Facility
Great Practice Tee. The greens were great. The starters are a little confusing. Overall a great course.
Great course
Beautiful course with lots of wildlife. I seen coyotes, bobcats, road runners and lots of prairie dogs. I would definitely play here again.
great shape. slow greens
This is a fun course to play for all handicaps. But the greens are to slow.
Great Value from Golf Now
Our foursome played the course in 3 1/2 hours - great pace. Golf staff and restaurant staff (we had a very good lunch after golf) extremely friendly. Played North Course, and it was in very good condition.
Tee time was booked through GolfNow, and, was an excellent value for this course. Would definitely play again if the same offer is presented.
Fun Course
Played a day after torrential rains unusual weather for late May. Course was a little beat up by the rain with a lot of pounding in low areas. Overall the greens crew should be commended for getting it playable. Played on Sat afternoon in 4 hours!
Good Course, bad neighbors
Great deal off Golf Now; otherwise I do not play this or other resort courses as they usually ask a premium compared to other nice courses in the Valley. Was somewhat crowded on a Sat afternoon, which led to a 5+ hour round. "Bad Neighbor" was the Talking Stick Resort Hotel, which, though up to a mile away, played thumping party music audible from every part of the course. Was very annoying.
Talking Stick 1st time
First time at Talking Stick North....great practice area to warm up or work on game....course was in great shape and the greens ran true and good speed. Well worth the money spent. Will definitely play again.
Good conditions, nice course
Golf course is very flat, but in great shape. Some of the holes seem to blend together; somewhat lacking that "wow factor". However, what's nice about Talking Stick - North is the fact that there are no blind shots and what you see is what you get. If you're not right down the middle, be careful though, as balls can easily bounce from the fairway into the desert (no rough to slow your ball down). Great course to begin your trip on. I wouldn't pay $100 to play this course, but for the price we paid it was a good deal. I would recommend.
Missing Info
Highly anticipated to play this course. Disappointed that closing of driving range was not announced during the booking process. Staff snobishly denied allowerence of golf cart to parking lot citing "potential accident". Overall, staffs are cold to patrons. Nice course design, good fairways, poor green condition.
Tricky play with all the bunkers
It was a great experience, we have longed to play this course for a few years; but just never could find a reasonable price. The only thing that was somewhat annoying was the music from the "pool party" at the Talking Stick Resort, it should be turned down somewhat for the respect of the golfers who have aid good money for a nice peaceful round of golf.
must have paid someone for rating.
How Talking Stick gets the ratings it does is a mystery to me. It's a boring course with middle of the road everything. For me it was just a common municipal course with above average amenities. I gave it low scores to try and offset the fake or rose color glasses being used.
Not worth the $
Greens were shaggy & slow. Not expected from a course charging what they do. Pace of play was great . I played early but the bunkers were really wet as well with some having puddles still. Not what I was hoping for from a "known" couse as this one. I'm not going back unless the price drops.
A Round on Talking Stick North
Well laid out, premium on short game, greens can be tricky.
No other place to put in but the South
Course was disappointing in that something was happening with the greens--like fertilizer, or more sand. Everything but everything stopped very short. Is this the one closing in the peak of summer?
Good fairways. Awful greens.
I paid $96 to play and expected much better conditions. The greens were bumpy and almost impossible to putt. I cannot believe could charge this much for such a bad experience. Never again for me!
Nice resort course in Scottsdale
I played the south course in the past but this was my first time on the north. The par 70 layout was lush and green and the greens have lots of slope and elevation changes but were a bit bumpy. GPS on the cart was not active. The are many steep faced bunkers which must be avoided if you are going to score well as many were hard and water compacted. Most of the par 4's played long (ie. 400 + yards) from the back and middle tees unless your a big hitter. A nice practice facility and practice balls included with the round so get there early. The rack rate is a bit steep but if you can get a good rate it is definitely worth a play.
Snakes abound....
Design of course leaves a lot to be desired. There are no memorable holes...just dog leg right, then dog leg left and lots of bunkers (although good sand in them). The course plays somewhat long from the forward tees for women with a mid to high handicap.
There was one very large king snake in on fairway. However when we finished our round all the staff seemed to be up top and I had to take care of getting our clubs to the car by myself. I found everyone gathered around a small diamondback by the clubhouse and having all the staff standing around looking at it instead of assisting players was offensive.
