Great Eagle Golf Club

About
Great Eagle Golf Club, rated one of the most affordable golf courses in Arizona, is a championship course in the West Valley. Although it has a traditional design there are several unique and challenging elements that come into play such as undulating mounds that cause uneven lies and well-guarded greens. Water hazards also come into play on four holes. The golf course offers three sets of tee boxes so that there is some flexibility regarding levels of challenge, but overall the course is suitable for any player. The Great Eagle Golf Club, in addition to the course, also offers both a chipping green and a putting green.

Great course for the money
Great course for the money and excellent food and the bar grill area. Lots of fun.
Very Disappointed
This course used to be fun for the money but the price has crept up and the quality and upkeep ah e not. They’ve actually gotten much worse. Used to be fun but until the price comes down it’s not worth more than $20-$25. Greens are patchy like the fairways. Cart paths are awful and need major maintenance.
Rough course
I have played many courses across the west, primarily in CA and AZ. The best part about this round was playing with my 16 year old son. Unfortunately this course ranks up there as the top 3 worst conditions I’ve ever played. It just looks like they are completely out of money. Tees were ok. Greens were very rough, very slow, and very wet. One green had gopher mounds crossing the green with a gopher trap set on the green. The maintenance staff hadn’t been taught staff etiquette. (I’m a former GC superintendent). It’s simple stuff, so no need to elaborate. Fairways were terrible. Unfortunately, there is more crabgrass than playable Bermuda. We paid $25 each for 9-holes. If it were $15, you might call it a value. Sorry folks, but the course is just “that” rough. I do believe the restaurant is their biggest draw.
Summer Golf
It's a drive, but the price was right. There was lots of construction, and it was hard to find the pro shop. Everyone but the starter was very friendly. It would help if you talked to or fire the starter that day. LAZY and confrontational. He did not introduce himself or explain anything about the course, i.e., bathroom, location, holes, or water holes when it's 110 degrees out. Other things happen to show his laziness. I don’t want to just ramble on here. But find someone who wants to promote your course.
Enjoyable
Course was good. It was dry and hot so grass needed a little TLC. Overall enjoyed the play and will be back again. I didn’t use any of the off course amenities this trip but last year ate at their restaurant and food was great. There’s a lot of construction happening at club house and buildings so AC was out in pro shop. I feel bad for the lady at the counter cause it was hot in there.
Great Eagle
They denied my 7 year old daughter to ride with me! Even when I offered to pay for the whole cost of a round they stated she couldnt ride with me! Complete bullcrap and wont ever be going back! Sad bcz I have 2 uncles who love there and used to golf this course 2-3 times a week!
5 Hours In The Summer
I was shocked that it was a 5 hour round on this course in the summer, played yesterday on Father's Day with a friend. I have played this course a number of times at various times of the year and I think the slowest round was maybe 4 hours and 20 minutes which is made this 5 hour round so shocking.
The course was in decent shape save for some dried out spots in some of the fairways, but I was pleasantly surprised at the trueness of the greens. They were a bit slow but in good shape.
Just try to have someone keep folks moving along and the round would be much more enjoyable.
Not family friendly
No ride alongs for kids. The course paths need a lot of work. Everyone was nice except the lady that checked us in.
Terrible
This is the second time I’ve played this course. The sprinklers have been on both times. I spent half my game, trying to avoid the sprinklers And the other half washing my clubs off in the lake. Would not recommend!
Crappy course, super strict.
Need a new starter. Very unfriendly. Get a young cooler guy. Starter checks every single receipt as if we would wanna steal a round at this crappy course. You can play way nicer courses that are less strict for the same price if not cheaper. There’s a reason why there wasn’t anyone on the course for 2 holes behind us or in front of us. Cuz it’s terrible. Crap course overall. Save your money.
Don’t waste your money
The pro shop wasn’t anything like I’ve seen in a long time. Ran down and looks like they’re just collecting what money they can. We started just after 8am and by the time we got to hole 10, (around 10:30ish) they were already closed down. Couldn’t purchase any snacks or drinks. The cart paths need to be redone. The cart and my clubs were banging around like I was in a derby. Somewhere around the 12th hole, a guy from the course comes up and just watches up play from behind like we were doing something wrong until we searched for an OB ball and he went up ahead and watched the next group. Very uncomfortable having someone bird dog you while your trying to tee off.
Rough shape
Out of desperation at the last minute we booked to play this course. It was a reasonable deal so we thought until we played the course. This Golf requires a lot of TLC. Most of the tee boxes are in poor shape along with the fairways. The greens were in reasonable condition and that was the only saving grace. Carts are old and in poor condition. Will not be returning.
Horrible course and staff
Would never come back here again. Don't waste your time or money.
The Challenge
The challenge at Great Eagle is to continue improving course conditions. The fairways and greens are much better than in past years, but the sand bunkers need sand, and the grass bunkers need to be mowed. Improvements to the cart paths or natural trails are still needed. With these upgrades, Great Eagle can quickly become a 5-star course.
