Rancho de Los Caballeros offers everything from horseback rides through the desert to hot stone massages at the spa. This historic dude ranch is also known as one of the state's most popular golfing destinations. Golf Digest ranked the Rancho de Los Caballeros golf course in the top five in Arizona and nationally, it's ranked in the top 100. The layout sprawls across rolling terrain and incorporates two large lakes into the design. The course climbs up 2,100 feet at its highest point providing stunning views of Vulture Peak to the south and the Bradshaw Mountains to the north. The par-4 13th is the signature hole. It features several changes in elevation and a small, undulating green that is also heavily guarded by bunkers. In addition to the course, the golf club at Rancho de Los Caballeros also has multiple driving ranges, practice putting greens, and there's also a short-game practice area.

Gorgeous setting and course conditions.

Had an absolute blast playing this course. Even though this is part of a development, the houses blend in so well and the lots are so large that they are hardly noticed. We had a wonderful day golfing and being taken care of.

Worth the trip

Very enjoyable course. A great value via 'hot deals', but would certainly say the same thing at the $75 rate. The conditions of greens, fairways and tees were excellent. Course is suitable for all levels. Pro shop and on course staff were very friendly and welcoming. Played as a threesome in less than 3.5 hours. Definitely needed a cart as there is a considerable distance between some holes. We'll be back.

Excellent course

A great course, very challenging, with lightning fast greens.
One has to plan each shot, there are strategically placed trees in many of the fairways, as well as numerous elevation changes throughout the course.
A very challenging yet enjoyable day of golf.

A very fun course; challenging but fair. The greens were in excellent shape and very true.

Los Caballeros is a very nice course. It is challenging without being punitive. The greens are a little tight, but in excellent condition.

Very fun to play....

Great golf, great aesthetics

Course was in superb condition. Greens, fairways, tees and even the bunkers were second to none. And beyond the course the mountain views and frequent changes in elevation made for a rapidly shifting and satisfying golfing experience. And when we tapped in on 18 we had lunch in a lovely restaurant with two working fireplaces. All in all I'd have to say it is one of the finest golf courses open to the public in Maricopa County.

I understand we played shortly after overseeeding but the fairways were very thin and wet.

I didn't like having $10.00 added to my bill, then given a voucher for $10.00. If I want to spend extra money in their proshop or lounge I will make that decision myself.

WOW What a Find

Los Caballeros is a hike from most places in the valley.....BUT worth every mile. It is in Wickenburg which is a neat little town in itself. The course is on a dude ranch which may throw some people off...do not let it. The course is an excellent design and layout. Conditions were very good although the greens were on the slow side. The sand is the best that I have seen in years. Take the drive make it a day.

Worth the hour drive!

Very challenging layout for me, especially playing from the blue tees - 6600 yards. Lots of well placed bunkers and trees, undulating greens. Beautiful vistas from many of the holes.
I definitely used every club in the bag, and the 134 slope rating is well deserved.
Driving range and practice facility very good.
Arrived at 10, teed off at 11, and was done just before 2. Played as a single and no one was on the course in front of me.
Will definitely play again.

Los Cabelleros, great course

Los Cabelleros is a classic (by Arizona standards), has great value for good shotmaking. I played it right after overseeding, but can't wait to go back under normal conditions!

Good layout and in great shape.

In Phoenix area for a guys 1 week golf trip. Had never played before and had booked online before we arrived. Liked it so much went back three days later and played it again. Course was in fantastic condition after overseeding. Greens were a little fuzzy and slow but will be fine in a couple of weeks. Staff were very friendly. Great grill for an after round lunch or snack. Would highly recommend this course.

Nice destination golf near Phoenix

Always intended to play this course, less than an hour from North Phoenix area. Well worth the drive, if you like to play a traditional golf course in desert surroundings.

The course reminded me a Midwestern set-up, with true rough on every hole, ample amount of bunkers and the occasional tree situated in the fairways, which makes you think more in terms of shot direction and trying to either draw or fade your tee shots. The overall layout is challenging, but offers wider fairways, and some holes offer great views of the surrounding desert and mountains.

As of 10/22, you can drive 90 degrees on the fairways after the re-seeding. The course is being watered pretty regularly, so you don't get as much roll, 100 yards in requiring approach shots landing closer to the hole than normal, as the greens are a little shaggy and your ball is not releasing . Otherwise, the course is in great shape and will get better. A good amount of course undulation, especially the greens - they putt very true. Played in just under 3 hours as a single, only played through one group on a early week tee time around noon.

No beverage carts, but no need to drink when you have to drive home. Will definitely make this a 1-3 time/year roadie.

A Must Play

I'd been meaning to play this course for several years but just never made the 30 mile trip. It had just been over-seeded 2 weeks before but it was in great condition and they allowed 90 degrees on carts. Although there had been 3 foursomes ahead of us we never waited on a tee and finished in less than 3 1/2 hours. Play the right tees for your handicap. They recommend the Blues (6626) for 5-10 handicap and the Whites (6277) for an 11-21 but as a 9 the Whites for the slower fairways and greens were just perfect. There is a great dining deck overlooking the range and first tee as well or the full Resort next door. Don't pass up a chance to play Los Caballeros.

challenging, but playable

the course is in beautiful condition for just having been overseeded. greens, of course, are real slow, but will pick up speed as the rye grass matures and can be cut lower. Love the scenery. The staff is outstanding.
