Very fun course - just needs some work
I enjoy playing golf at Chuck Corica, it's a good facility with a nice staff. The course layout for Earl Frye is a lot of fun with reachable par 5's, challenging par 3's and some fun looking holes along the way.
The course isn't in the best condition but that's expected in California with the drought. Pace of play wasn't bad at 4:45 for a municipal course on a busy Saturday.
I'll be going back to play due to the fun and the good value at Chuck Corica.
Course dying
I played this course as a Jr. in 1980's and was a great course to play. Today when I played it, it appeared to be dying. There were at least 4 greens that had bad brown spots were half the green could not be used. The other greens were in fair condition. Also we noticed at least 20-30 dying or dead redwood trees. The also seem to be a lot of ground under repair spots, most of them were marked off, but just seemed to be too many at any single time.
used to have very nice greens
Terrible conditions, greens were just awful, won't play again ,gonna wait till jack clark opens
Senior Golf
Great place for Seniors, easy to walk & reasonable rates
Horrible greens
Really nice practice facility. Greens are the worst I have played in the Bay area..unfortunate.
Fairway's condition is good but the greens have uneven patches
It was dusty during we played on the Earl Fry course. Watering the job site is needed under the construction. Should Chuck Corica Golf give some incentive to the golf player for the inconvenience during their course renovation
needs some help
I've played here many times, but it seems like the course is being severely over-played due to the South's renovation. It is surprising wet/soft both on the fairways and the greens. Greens were in rough shape, bumps, slow pace and patchy due to new seeding. Always a moderate wind. Bar has excellent food and the staff was very nice.
I'd play again since it is local, but it needs some TLC
Disappointed
Some of the greens lacked grass. Many greens that had grass were bumpy. Tees and fairways were no better than average. I like to try different courses for the challenge. This was unspectacular. I won't go back.
stay away
The greens on this course are the worst I've ever seen including municipal golf courses. The whole track in general is garbage and I would not recommend it for anybody. It's basically a goat pasture with some flags in the middle of it stay away.
Pace could have been much improved.
The group ahead of us were totally oblivious to anyone besides themselves. They fell at least two holes behind with no effort to pick up the pace. At no time did we see a marshal to ask for assistance. It was a distraction and annoyance to what should have been a very pleasant round of golf. The groups behind us said they solved the problem by playing two balls. Now, I wish I was smart enough to do the same. A marshal would have helped. Maybe.
Slow play
Took 6 hours to play 18. To slow pace. Even for the weekend.
Early fry
Terrible tee boxes. Terrible grass. There was goose feces everywhere.
Great place to spend time with good friends
Everything to me was in great shape from tee to green I definitely recommend to go enjoy a round with close friends cause even if you have a bad round still so worth it
The drought has hit this muni hard
The city is clearly not giving the course enough water. There are brown patches everywhere, including landing areas in the fairways. The greens bases felt firm, but had a lot of soft spots ; the surfaces were choppy.
Slow pace with a Tournament playing ahead of us.
There are two five men team playing ahead of us and it took us wating for 10 minutes every hole before we can tee off. Five and a half hour round is too long for two people. Otherwise the course is good and challenging. There are so many geese and lots of droppings around like a obstacle course.
Under Construction on South Course- Don't Bother
Dirt piles everywhere. Had to wait 30+ minutes for carts to come back before tee off. 25 minutes behind tee time, looked like they let a walk up, without a reservation before us. Horrible conditions for the money. $45 a player, when they should be closed for construction. Fairways are dirt and bounce anyway they please. As a golfer, Please dont waste your time and money on this course. I'm not one to write a bad review, but wait till the course is finished to play.
