Merlot/Chardonnay at Poppy Ridge Golf Course

This is in most respects a great course fun to play always in good condition...it may have just been today, but the greens were so slow it took away from the round, the grass on the greens was starting to flower making it even more slow and grainy...it must be poa anna

Chardonnay is the best 9 imo, and last two outings it’s been cordoned off for an event.

Greens were shag carpet slow, already looked like broccoli crowns, AT 7 am!

Usually excellent, not today.

I arrived for my tee time 3 minutes late and was told by the starter that I would lose my tee time and had to wait until 45 minutes later for the next available tee time. Needless to say I was not too happy to hear that as I have yet to hear that on any other course ( I play many different courses). After I was given the news, I was tempted to cancel my tee time and go somewhere else, but low and behold another staff member came up me to me and offered me to join another 3some on a different tee and drop in the fairway, then I could come back around and play that hole over. Thanks to that staff member, my opinion of the staff and course was changed to the better. Not sure if I will paly here again but it wasn't as bad as it could of been.

Played here the first time on July 4. In addition to the holiday crowd, we followed a very slow threesome that ended up combining with another threesome (they were there together) and we had to follow those six the last three holes. No marshals anywhere.

5 1/2 hours for the round. We enjoy Poppy Hills so we wanted to try Poppy Ridge. 2+ hour drive from home, so we don't plan to return.

good hot deal price, but the greens seriously need to be cut and rolled, they were so long when they cut the holes the hole became smaller than normal because it was not a clean cut...affects the game

This course is pretty nice but really hilly the greens were slow I hear it’s windy a lot of days here as was today. I’d play it again though.

All three nines are great. Conditions are a little dry on some fairways, but all the greens are in good shape.

It is challenging but rewarding when you hit good shots.

This is a challenging layout with elevation changes and prevailing winds. Enjoyable to play but not easy as you must be fairly accurate with your shot placements, greens roll true but are slow overall. We would play here again

This would be a 5 star review if Poppy Ridge would put some time into improving the greens. I play here weekly and have patiently been waiting for them to improve the greens. The course layout is awesome, the course is in great shape, but the way the greens roll makes this course not live up to its value. They are inconsistent, ranging from slow to very slow and from kinda smooth to bumpy. If your play Callippe or Wente be prepared to leave puts short. With better greens this is a 5 star course and a great value if not the best value in the east bay.

Starting with the check in, a bad day. After watching a 10 minute banter with a couple, head pro indicated no reservation booked for me. After showing him the Golf Now confirmation twice on my phone, including PAYMENT MADE, I avoided the $84 per person fee they considered. Confusion remained in confirming which 9 we were to tee off from. Two twosomes were in front of us, and we saw a 6some on the course!!!! as it took 5 1/2 hrs to play. Greens poana, very bumpy 1st 6 holes and inconsistent. Expected so much more from this beautiful lay out. Not to return.

This was my first time playing Poppy Ridge as an NCGA member and I was excited. I was welcomed by the young man at the front desk. Really nice kid. He was able to get me on as a single early in the morning and last minute. I'll say the positive first, the pace of play was awesome, three hours because it was 740 am start. The starter was okay a little grumpy as I did feel like I was in the way as a single. I hurried and wad ready to play even without putting. Poppy Ridge the layout was spectacular and a lot of fun. The greens on Zinfandel side however were not very good as they were bumpy and slow. The fairways were about 3 and 1/2 to 4 stars as far as condition not plush but good, signs of some weeds in areas close to the green and on The Fairway as well. The bunkers were hard in some spots and very wet in othets and others were good. The Merlot side was fun, great layout as well. The greens were better, they were cut but it appeared to have aerification holes in them. Overall I believe Poppy Ridge on a normal summer day could be spectacular as far as the condition. On this particular day it just wasn't outstanding.

This was a great course with beautiful views. The greens are firm with a lot of true break. Trust your reads. The pace was slow because of an outing but I can't wait to play it again.

Nice course but it’s pretty dry and traffic from my house in San Jose.

Have played each of the 3 courses many times. It's always in great shape, fast greens and a great club house/restaurant. Great deal for NCGA members.

Pace of play is pretty consistent. The rough is very penalizing which occasionally slows the pace a bit. Overall its a great track.
