Putting on a beautiful green Photo submitted by gordyvon on 09/25/2012
12th hole, chipped for a birdie!
What's special this time around is that I chipped for a birdie on the 12th. Ball jumped up from my wedge and dunked right into the cup. Unforgettable. But this was over shadowed by my playing partners tee shot at the 17th par 3. He hit it fat and it was short but apparently it hit the slope on the right side and took a miraculous bounce towards the cup. It stopped 3 inches from it for a tap in birdie. Plenty of smiles and laughter at the last 2 holes. That's how every golf round should end.
Sporty little course
One of the better bargains in the Monterey area, Laguna Seca offers more of a challenge than reading the score suggests. Many holes, while short, demand a strong drive in order to yield a look at the green for your approach. Most of the course is moderately hilly, and the term "target golf" definitely means something here.
Condition is decent. Fairways are a little dry, but not too bad for this time of year. Greens are excellent: fast but turfy, and they will hold a well-played shot. Bunkers are hit-and-miss: some are fine, while others are ratty and almost empty of sand.
All in all, a fun little course with more than enough challenge for a duffer like me.
GREAT TIME
Did off at 10:30 had a great time foursome maybe had to wait less than two or three minutes on the first couple holes and that was it just rolled through the rest nice Fairways good greens all in all a great time at a great course
fun course, but...
A good trac for the money. Good condition but greens need some TLC
A Round of Gold
This Course is kind of a Diamond in the rough, it is a fun & challenging course, I'll play again as soon as I can, The Bar area is great afterwards, Happy Hour 3-6 Daily
New Management, Great Conditions!!
I have always enjoyed playing Laguna Seca. It is a fun layout and has always been in decent shape, but in the last few months under new management the conditions are the best I have ever seen them. Nice practice facility and a wonderful staff. Definitely worth playing!!
Great course to play.
Laguna Seca Golf is a great place to play. David is a good host and staff is doing a great job keeping the fairways and greens in shape. Love playing here. Recommend to anyone who wants a beautiful setting and challenge. Hole are varied and interesting.
Played the course for 30+ years...
I love the layout of Seca and the xonvenience to my home. After Rancho Canada folded, this has become my default home course. It has many fond memories for me.
My criticisms are that the traps are dull of old sand and rocks. The fairways are mixed with crab grass and other stuff. The greens too are mixed. It needs some love. For the price, it is what it is. At times I feel it is on par with municipal courses, but then I go back to my memories and forget all that. The restaraunt is 50 - 50 open or closed. Dont bank on a snack or lunch. The 10th whole snack shop is never open. Bring all you need with you. Enjoy the views. Work with the afternoon winds. Seca is a local staple. For the price and convenience and memories I will always return.
Good value
Greens and fairways in excellent shape, was able to get teeoff on time, Staff and atmosphere friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had a good time
Laguna Seca Golf
Another beautiful day on LS golf course. The only delay was having to wait for 3 turkeys on the 1st tee box. Great course. Great weather. We’ll be back again and again.
Very fun course in great shape
The greens, tee boxes, and fairways were all in very good shape. Course plays longer than it looks ( to this 14 handicap)...my only complaint is that there are no water stations on the course and on a 75-80 degree day, I was desperately seeking hydration! The soda machine at the turn takes $1 and change, no credit card...don’t know if there’s a drink cart on weekends, but none on this weekday!
Course layout
Enjoyed my play at this course. However the layout could use some help got lost and confused on part's of the course with a few signs that could be fixed
FUN AND CHALLENGING
The course is fun, well maintained. Hole 15 is a bit of a challenge the first time. I would definately play it again.
Coastal Golf
Very friendly staff. Course was in great condition. Got a good price thru GolfNow. A bit crowded but pace of play moved right along. Will play again when I’m in the area!
