Golfer Reviews
Golfing solo in light drizzle
Best day of golf I’ve ever played @ Laguna Seca. Did not see 1 other golfer during my entire round. Played 18 in 2 hrs 20 min. While a storm was predicted for the afternoon, it didn’t materialize. I was very fortunate and made the most of it! Course played like it was dry and was in good winter shape.
Great day in December
Couldn't ask for better weather in December. Course was not full but plenty of people teed off in the the hour after us (11:00a) and pace of play was very good -- 3:45 round. Fairways were firm and greens rolled very well and reasonably fast.
Fun course
Lots of elevated greens. Good time for any level player.
Great Track
The last couple times out I haven't been able to complete the full course due to various reasons. I always enjoy the layout here at Laguna Seca. With all the elevations changes its a blast to play.
Right now the Greens are in the best condition I've ever seen them. Extremely smooth and void of pitch marks. They're rolling at a medium-slow speed which is average for this track. The greens at Laguna Seca are sneaky. They don't look very intimidating but can bite you in a hurry if you're not careful.
Fairways were average. Decent coverage throughout but certainly a notch or two below the last few (high end) courses I played. Tee boxes were in nice shape as well. I was only on one sand trap and it was ok. I was right at the bottom flat spot of the bunker so it was a bit damp and hardback from all the recent rain. Still, it was it was playable.
As for POP I'll post a separate thread on that topic. Once I broke free of the people I was paired with, I zipped around the back 9 in an hour and some change.
Overall, Laguna Seca is an absolute blast of a track. Conditions are as good as ever right now, but still, it's on par with muni courses. Full rack rates are steep but the online rates aren't too bad.
Lovely course
Very nicely laid out course. Unfortunately the pace of play was excruciatingly slow. Couldn't get any momentum and felt the cold more due to all the standing around.
Pace of play - worst it's ever been
Pace of play has gone to crap. 2's in between groups of 4's, seen groups of 6 & 7. Zero attempt to control pace of play. Saturday was the worst I've ever seen. Some sort of group event caused a 3 hour pile up on the front 9. Took 3+ hrs just to complete the front 9. 4 groups waiting on 8. Seems like their letting the course go. Pace of play has gotten out of control.
Challenging course with mountain views and friendly staff, providing for a pleasant round of golf at a great value!
A good days golf on a very nice and diverse golf course.
Have played this 12-15 times. I enjoy every time out as there are enough holes that challenge the average golfer
A scenic and fun layout of a good golf course.
The scenic layout is breathtaking with a fair but unique challenge. Love the elevated tee boxes but get ready to hike to the blue tees. Greens were in great shape and sand traps in good condition albeit some had larger rocks in them. Pace was slow. Definitely a great deal to play a scenic course.
To much fun
Beautiful day for our first time here. Played with two wonderful guys from Canada, they were very patient with my wife’s game. Course is very well maintained. The greens were out standing not to fast rolled very true. If you don’t mind a few planes flying overhead it’s a great experience. My one sort of complaint is the dog legs, if I don’t know to put your drive it could spell trouble. Over all a really fun day.
