Golfer Reviews
Laguna
Nice course... short but will eat your lunch if you get lazy. Grass is very grabby. So make sure you power through your shots. US Open week so all area courses jack prices up.
Beautifully-Maintained and Designed Course!
My buddy and I are down from Tacoma to work the US Open, and discovered this very reasonably-priced track. LSGR has excellent fairways, dramatic elevated tee boxes, sweeping views, and very challenging greens. This isn’t a “Grip It and Rip It” course; you need to think several shots ahead in order to score well.
Positives: Pace of Play (Just over 3 hours with a power cart.); friendly, competent staff; condition of the entire course from tee to green; power carts very well-maintained; overall vibe that this is a special place. (I work at Chambers Bay, where we also strive to provide that vibe.) Restrooms were clean and located conveniently.
We weren’t thrilled by the mashed potatoes consistency of the bunkers, though they are certainly playable.
Bottom Line: LSGR is on my “Must Play” list when visiting the Monterey Peninsula!
Course
The course is in nice condition. Would recommend it to everyone. Enough tee boxes to make is as tough or easy as you want.
Much improved condition of the fairways and greens.
Mgmt needs to clean restrooms facilities on the course. Very poor condition. Also, replace all the sand in bunkers. Current bunkers are compacted, no depth in the sand.
Entire course needs weed and feed lawn application. Keep course well watered. Greens in best shape in some time.
Problem with paying green fee
I booked my time through golf now. When I went to pay my green fee l used my credit card because I didn’t have enough cash. I assumed my card would be swiped so my credit card number would be encrypted. But instead the employee wrote down my card number on a form he had on the counter, in plain sight. I asked him why he was writing down my number. He said that’s the way we do it with golf now. Credit card numbers are very private and personal information not to be shared or left in plain sight due to all the identity theft that is going on. I’m very disappointed in your lack of privacy and will be notifying golf now to make them aware of your procedure.
Jewel in the south
If you have not yet later LS take a little time to explore this course.
Truly a gem.
