DeLaveaga Golf Course & Lodge
About
Perched in the hills above Santa Cruz, DeLaveaga Golf Course & Lodge features plenty of elevation changes as well as tight, tree-lined fairways making this short layout anything but a cinch. The result of the tight layout, however, often translates into long rounds as higher handicappers look for their golf balls in the woods. Designed by Bert Stamps, the golf course opened in 1970. Conditioning is average, but DeLaveaga Golf Course & Lodge's green fees are a small fraction of its more famous neighbors.

DeLa!!
Love this course!! Never gets old. Great layout. Each hole is unique. Course conditions dictated by the amount of rain Santa Cruz gets annually. The "City" is always concerned about water usage, but the greens, traps, and fairways are always well maintained.
Beautiful course, great value
Love this course. Challenging with moments of “you’ve got to be kidding” to “I actual can par this one.” Starting off with a difficult par 5 starts you off with a bang but makes hole #2 seem easy!
Fun
This course is tough but fair
Played Dela yesterday and was very pleased with the condition of the greens and fairways.
Great value for money.
Will play again soon
Course condetion
This is my ist time played at this course.Im impress the condetion of this course.Althogh some area is in renovation still well keep.So early in the morning when I started playing Do only takes 3 hours and I’m done Therefire I don’t have no idea how fast is the pace of play.I difinately recommend this course to my friend .Place to injoy playing golf.
Santa Cruz Gem!
Course conditions could not have been better in early February. I lived in Santa Cruz for 3 years and played Delaveaga many times. This time stood out, invited a coworker to join me and he was impressed with the value and quality of the course. Pasatiempo gets all the hype in Santa Cruz, do yourself a favor save $150 by playing Dela!
It was nice.
The location was nice in the trees top of a hill. Fair ways were a little tight but enjoyable.
Best Course for the Price.
This place is a wonderful value. Most times you can play 18 holes for under $20. The staff is always super nice, always great deals in the pro shop and you can always hit under a 100.
Nice group
I'm an average golfer and I ended up playing with a group of three guys round my age, mid 50s, who were shooting par for the course for the most part and playing quick. They were excellent players and stellar people, I never felt like an outsider and they brought my level of play up just by being with them, super nice and friendly guys. I got lucky that day. The weather was perfect and the course in great shape.
Buy a lawn mower
Course is super short and will punish you if you are wild off the tee. They desperately need to cut their fairways! There really is no distinction between fairway and rough. The greens are OK. For the price you can find way better course in the area that have better conditions. The pace of play was so slow the day I played, took 5 hours. Although, i believe it was probably due to the fact that there was a tournament early on in the day, so I don’t blame them for it. I also recommend NOT going to their driving range. I think they are still using the same balls from 15 years ago. It was almost comical the condiditon of the balls.
Slow-Veaga
I like almost everything about this course except it's painful pace of play. In an effort to be friendly and open, they allow too many five-somes on this course. The course Marshall's (that you see often) never do anything to push the slow groups along and so a round that should take 3 1/2 to 4 hours to play on a relatively short track inevitably takes 5 hours to play. I once played the front nine in 3 hours... before I gave up and walked off the course. If anyone wants to know the singular reason for the death of golf - it's the laboriously slow pace of play.
